Part II is an electroacoustic rendition of fragments taken from »Odyssey To Anyoona« by Jam & Spoon (JAM!/Dance Pool, 1994), fully developed on the harmonium as a sole instrument.

Part III is based on microtonal synthesizer excerpts, whereas Part IV is an unreleased screwed edit of an sample loop taken from a live recording by Margitt Holzt.

This album is a collection of works from the Awkward Geisha 2017 repetoire. Call it a sampler if you wish. Call it a ‘best of’. Call it art.

Awkward Geisha is a free improvisation ensemble with legs firmly lodged in the avant garde and dada movements.
Members of the ensemble vary from song to song.
The ensemble was put together by Harsh Noise Movement in 2016 as a reaction to the mundane and tedious sounds that insult the eardrums on a daily basis.

This is not a live recording and yet it also is. Part of this concert was ‘semi-acoustic’, not going over the sound system, but using separate smaller speakers and radio speakers. The audience was asked to do a recording on whatever means they had with them, which turned out to be harddisc recorders, camera and mobile phone. All of the ones I received afterwards were used to create the music you are hearing, a collage of various recordings from various points in this space. So its live and not really. I mixed it but did not really edit, as in taking out the ‘bad parts’, it.

HUH is formed in July 2007 in Tokyo Japan by Kyosuke Terada (guitar/voice) & Takuma Mori (drums/voice).
They are presenting a new jazz with free improvisation.
They keep looking for the melting point of the groove and the noise, junk jazz, no wave punk by free form improvisation.

Founder of several projects into noise scene [ Nascitari, Psicopompo ] & sound art [ Mare di Dirac, Tevet Icetone Process ].Unconventional methods of composition to generate textures & installations with use of: electroacoustic instruments, isolation from environment, mental sound’s manipulation.

Born in 1977 in the far west of Austria, life for a hungry littlev electronica nerd was hard. My electronic music life started at the day I saw Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy” at MTV. In the next 2 years i collected what I got and also found some really relaxing works from him and other artists. With the purchase of Aphex’ “Selected Ambient Works 2” I jumped into soundscapes and Ambient sounds. In 1998 I started making own noises with a tracker and some free ware sounds. Then some personal problems kicked in 2002 and I did nothing until the winter of 2009/2010. In December 2010 Dabit Vocem Austria was born and 1 year later Mental Escape
Pod followed. And it never stopped until today.

Peter Hope & Charlie Collins have been working together since 1982.

Collins was an original member of CLOCK DVA (White Souls In Black Suits / Thirst) before forming Avant-Punk group THE BOX with the other ex-CLOCK DVA members Roger Quail & Paul Widger. Hope joined THE BOX in 1982 and the band released 3 albums and several singles & EPs through GO! DISCS & DOUBLEVISION.

Collins has continued working in avant-garde, free jazz and improvising bands, trading his arsenal of horns for drums and percussion, both producing and performing to international acclaim. Hope continues to challenge with both collaborative and solo work in numerous guises (pH2 / EXPLODING MIND / SUFFERHEAD / CRIMINAL FACE / plus more)

“ErrorTape”

ErrorTape was an error created when digitising an old tape recording using an ION Tape Express Tape to MP3 converter. It transferred successfully but the tape somehow started playing again from the beginning and started to loop, but it was also very slowly creeping forward so each loop was slightly different from the previous one. The recording is exactly how it was converted, no edits or effects were used. It’s about 9 minutes long but the length of the original sound source was maybe 30 seconds or less. The original sound is from a record made at an auto recording booth.
