about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Jørgen Brønlund Quartet – From A Logical Point Of View

[SCM-1704]

Jørgen Brønlund Quartet

“From A Logical Point Of View”

The sound of melting floe, captured by a hydrophone, crackling under a female enchanting voice that repeats the same words continuously, like a gentle mermaid calling towards fatal cliffs, and whirring sounds rotating like ghost ships passing.
The landscape is white and grey and cold but open to a myriad possibilities of northern lights and very distant fires in the sky.

Haase+Santis – Dos Trazos

[pn126]

Haase+Santis

“Dos Trazos”

The second album by the improvisatory duo Johannes Haase (Germany) and Óscar Santis (Chile), in this work we find two strokes, each one with a particular character and energy, music born from an ambient minimalism of high contrast based on the energy and sonority of each of them, together they create these sonorous images of highly oneiric and aquatic depth, that revoke the dunes, the sea, and the factories near Ritoque.

Trazo uno (Stroke one); of an aggressive character, contained and defragmented, the sonorities created by the electric violin of Haase are hidden between textures blurred by processes and loops, these at moments, contrasted by the electronics of Santis, overwhelming, from aleatoric rhythms and great sonic density, almost pixelated, together they create landscapes that are deconstructed and assembled in an organic way, creating textures of high spatiality.

Trazo dos (Stroke two); a deep and spacious texture, of aquatic time that is constructed of subtle gestures that coexist in a state of contemplation, the temporal absence that they generate immerses us in a very deep listening almost like daydreaming, a continuous variation that little by little comes and goes transforming and giving rise to this fragmented minimalism that brings us back to that which is human.

A disc where temporality and form are given through the organic needs of the moment, which takes us into subtle states of listening, where we can manage to enter the fine interwoven fabric and the decisions through which the music was tacken on, at the personal level, a work of brief landscaping with an occultist essence, two strokes that propose contrasting states from the same nature, listening and freedom.

Slit In Slot – Birthmarks

[mhrk190]

Slit In Slot

“Birthmarks”

“Birthmarks” by Slit In Slot is an emotional, harsh and considered work. A precise, even meticulous amalgam of field recordings, ambient and noise music, the release combines as much as it dissects all of its core components. The resulting music is sometimes drifting, sometimes scorching but always remaining humane. Beneath “Birthmarks” lies a strong and personal concept, a complex understanding of sound and an obsessive desire to transform the sonic ruins of our shared reality into new worlds.

Number Eleven – Strict

[EEM025]

Number Eleven

“Strict”

Damaged with disorders, constant reconstructions, and wrong decisions, while losing the ability to dictate your own rules, Strict falls into a state of attacking everything that could lead to a failure, introducing a crude self-defense mechanism of attacking everything that is interfering with principles of existence. All this has the potential of destroying all bonds and connections, dismissing the opportunities, just to find the cause of disorders, ripping every reason of existence just to have an answer.

Regained, recuperated anger and blasts combined with illogical analytic attacks, resulting in a powerful complex forge of rhythmic structures which are hard to stand and fathom, coupled with the angry synthesis of orchestral and electronic surges of extreme insanity and sadness put at the precision of a scalpel.

Mental Escape Pod
alias: Dabit Vocem Austria; Oni_pelted_by_beans; Das Rheintaler Nachtwerk; Felix Montfort;

Born in 1977 in the far west of Austria, life for a hungry littlev electronica nerd was hard. My electronic music life started at the day I saw Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy” at MTV. In the next 2 years i collected what I got and also found some really relaxing works from him and other artists. With the purchase of Aphex’ “Selected Ambient Works 2” I jumped into soundscapes and Ambient sounds. In 1998 I started making own noises with a tracker and some free ware sounds. Then some personal problems kicked in 2002 and I did nothing until the winter of 2009/2010. In December 2010 Dabit Vocem Austria was born and 1 year later Mental Escape
Pod followed. And it never stopped until today.

ref/inter – /inter

[EEM024]

ref/inter

“/inter”

/inter is an album based on a certain visuality of sound. It has various sounds in it (field recordings, instrument samples, pure frequencies, and glitch/feedback noise), however, the core of this album was an experiment – an analog connection of sound and image. By sending a sound signal to a screen in such a way as if it were visual information the screens started to show imagery and by testing four different approaches towards using sound and testing how they look in this particular connection /inter was formed.

Onde Poussière – Vague Seconde

[Eg0_169]

Onde Poussière

“Vague Seconde”

Vague Seconde, the second album of Onde Poussière, documents the group’s evolution since their beginnings and their first album Silent Rain. Doedelzak now plays interconnected analog synthesiszers, and Kecap Tuyul has dropped the guitar and uses a “no-input mixer” with effects. Their improvisations are based on the creation of unstable situations in which some accidental sounds might happen at any time…

scmute – Sumic Semurnb

[mn007]

scmute

“Sumic Semurnb”

The structure of nature.

Nature expresses itself through its structure, it has no function or intention to communicate feelings or ideas. If nature speaks to us, she does so through her relationship with us, since we are part of her. The music presented by Marcos Bernabé (aka scmute) in “Sumic Semurnb” is like nature, its structure is algorithms, instructions for its generation that resonate us by its relation with our psychology of attention. The game with attention is the key, as a vehicle to enjoy the sounds, the dynamics and, ultimately, to provide us with a singular perceptual experience.

scmute gives us, in addition, an extra gift in track number two, because it gives space to the silence that we so much appreciate in this netlabel.

Palm Era – Gimo

[M025]

Palm Era

“Gimo”

Palm Era – Gimo

Palm_Era (Claudio Cisterna) is a chilean producer from Santiago. A long-standing electronic music producer, he had been publishing under the netlabel Impar and the record label U-Cover from Belgium under the alias Flipper, a project that is closer to IDM. Later under the alias ‘Chiodata’, he immerses himself more into the experimental side of music and releases some of his works under the Irish record label Fort Evil Fruits and Cocodriller. He has also developed other projects such as ‘Jon Claudio’, a fusion between electronic music and Krautrock. Palm_Era released his album called ‘Coincidental’ under the record label Illuminated Paths from Florida, USA in 2015. He has also collaborated in compilations that have been released by the netlabel Modismo and netlabel Epasonidos. These days, he is presenting ‘Gimo’, his first publication under Modismo which travels between diverse rhythms built with complex and yet innovative structures. ‘Gimo’ essentially takes us into a profound and flavorful trip where basslines and synths that are analogically worked combine. In this work, Palm_Era reveals his good taste and skills. The way to approach percussion in this record excels due to its production duty and Latino sense. Samples lead to a trance that is hard to get rid of and melodies gleams at the right time, as well as the details in experimentation. All this results in a very refreshing and futuristic album that will stand out in time without a doubt.
