z(xW+yW) is a solo project of Kecap Tuyul started spring 2018 while experimenting different ways to generate low volume feedback with small gear : for instance with one contact microphone and one 1W battery-powered amplifier. It was initially thought as lo-fi version of the “Failure Circle” project work with chaotic feedback system of the no-input mixer in a more portable way, but finally took a quite different direction, with a more tactile & acoustic dimension.
3×2(1W+18V) is the first published album of this project. It was recorded in june 2018 with lo-fi means (cell phone and a cheap digital recorder). Each track is a mix of two improvisations played with the most primitive form of z(xW+yV) : one contact microphone, one 1W battery-powered amplifier and two guitar effects (overdrive and equalization).
M.A.K.T. Sono (Magali Albespy and Kecap Tuyul)’s second album « 11 songs » is made of selected and edited improvisations recorded during the “M.A.K.T. Sono (sans sono)” residency at Le Magasin – Laboratoire de permanence chorégraphique (Mathieu Heyraud) – Saint-Etienne – November 4-9 2018.
Since their beginnings in February 2018 the duo has been working with modular set-ups that are likely to provoke unstable situations (like the soundbox, analog synthesizer and no-input mixer used in their first album “If you were a clarinet”). This time they played with microphones, voices, analog synthesizers, and small battery-powered amplifiers, forming a modular set-up whose elements can be interconnected in various ways. They also experimented the integration of some song-material in their improvisations.

“The perfect failure (?) vol. 6 : Imperfect failures”
Even bad things come to an end! This is the 6th and last volume of the perfect failure (?) / l’échec parfait (?). I must admit I failed to find any real or perfect failure among all the sounds submitted. Each of them inspired me for building interesting sound blocks, imagining new composition tactics, blurring the distinction between what I can find “good” or “bad” – although I won’t deny that many of these sounds were somehow headache-inducing when played on repeat while working on this 5 hours long mix. Will you love-hate all these “Imperfect failures” as much as I did while patiently gathering them during 7 years?

The Two Thousand Eighties is a collection of song created between 2016 and 2018 by Demonic Sweaters. They range from ambient, chiptunes, experimental, rock, pop, and features live drums on several tracks, and plenty of synths.
Tay_ploops is a solo project of multidisciplinary Canadian artist (painter, performer, puppeteer, musician) Jessica Gabriel. She initially conceived Ta_rot as a concept album of sad experimental songs to be released on 30 november 2018, for the international remembrance day for lost species.

Ayato & Naoki Ishida have been working together via file exchange since the early 2010s. 3 years after their album “Red_control rec.played” , they offer us a split album recorded between 2015 and 2016 : Tapes Outtakes. Here, as the title suggests, the 2 artists have both worked with magnetic tapes. Ayato has used an old Revox reel-to-reel tape player to create evolving loops of various instruments, while Naoki Ishida has used other (undisclosed) methods and material. Two ways to use the tape as an instrument and tool for experimental composition.

It is with great pleasure and eagerness that Recycled Plastics is able to introduce the listening world to Demi Odessa, a talented young man who has managed to create one of the best Summer albums we’ve ever heard. BODY MEMORY is notable not only because it is the first RP release to feature vocals, but because it embodies a beautiful confluence of youthful melancholy, seasonal playfulness, lo-fi charm and incredibly measured restraint. Elements of Demi Odessa can be traced all over the place, from warm tape-decked house music to minimal techno, from 1990’s trip hop records to classical synthpop – it’s all present, natural and unforced. Body Memory sounds easy, accessible and plays to both down and up moods at all the right points, still never letting the curtain pull back so much that we ever get a clear picture of the person behind it.

Pierre Guilhem il faisait des dessins mais aussi de la musique alors voilà son album de Dub qui date de 2005, il l’avait fait en CD et Claude Biscuit en avait un exemplaire qu’il a maintenant égaré. Mais Reno Leplat Torti nous en a retrouvé un que voici, la pochette scanée est à venir, car voici une detestable miniature qui a pourtant son charme. Un album réalisé avec un synthé (Casio, il nous semble) et qui a été composé à Nîmes. Il a d’abord été promu sur la page de Nunu Editions, autour de 2005. De la dub pour plage à savourer entre amis, avec un pastis, dans la mesure du possible.

Stillborn Blues‘ 3rd album (originally released on cd-r in 2010) has the same old typical style : plaintive melancholy, detuned guitars, lo-fi recording, awkward playing muffled by the abuse of reverb and delay – all the ingredients for a low-profile soundtrack for lazy dreamers and restless losers in need of a pretext for spending the day watching the ceiling.
