about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Sevensy – Reinvention Of The Sacred

Sevensy – Reinvention Of The Sacred
[mhrk300]

Sevensy

“Reinvention Of The Sacred”

“Reinvention of the Sacred” is a musical consideration of the after-effects of the ‘god is dead’ idea on Western society. Nothing has replaced the ideals represented in the best of spiritual thought, and our behaviours have changed as a result. For some, there is no longer any reason to behave in an ethical manner, nothing to live up to. The vacuum left by the decline in the perceived importance of the spiritual search calls for a reevaluation of what has meaning, what is important.

The music that comprises “Reinvention of the Sacred” is very minimalistic, almost ‘not here’ at times. This approach was taken in an attempt to aurally depict a non-dual continuum, wherein there is no separation between matter and Spirit, profane and divine.

Brainquake + Sven Phalanx – From The Oblivion Lounge

Brainquake + Sven Phalanx – From The Oblivion Lounge
[mhrk299]

Brainquake + Sven Phalanx

“From The Oblivion Lounge”

Mahorka is more than a label, it is also a place where artists meet and collaborate. Sven Lemke (Sven Phalanx, Andreas Davids + Sven Phalanx, Schattenspiel, Schwarzwald) and Marc Ceulemans (Brainquake, Zonevreemd, Toxic Derwish, Psych Krist Kastrator) have both had already outstanding contributions to the catalog when Marc was invited to remix Sven’s “Klangtherapie” for the special remix album (mahorka.org/release/288) and they got to know and meet each other. Since they had many similarities in background and musical preference, they decided to compose and produce something together. This collaboration worked just perfectly and soon they suprised the label with the ten tracks of “From The Oblivion Lounge” album as presented here. From desolate ambient and rough rhythmic experimental to technoid industrial, they made this all sound very different but coherent. We can hear a lot of both of them here, but also something completely different, befitting the harshness of today’s society.

Hypnos – Vindictiveness

Hypnos – Vindictiveness
[mhrk298]

Hypnos

“Vindictiveness”

With his third album Hypnos drives us on a journey of sonic invasion, a journey into the personal ways of the artist in dealing with narcissistic and vindictive behavior in our society, where we are constantly exaggerating our life stories and achievements in an aura of overinflated importance, to the point that we become defensive when questioned or when someone challenges our conscious or subconscious idea of superiority.

“Vindictiveness” is Hypnos’ most structured, most complex release to date, revealing yet another side of the project, inspired by club techno aesthetics, with constructions derived from and building on early rave music rhythms and sequences and everything merged into swathes of ambient fields of long, calm and heavy drones.

Boban Ristevski + Philippe Neau – 21
[mhrk297]

Boban Ristevski + Philippe Neau

“21”

released February 2, 2022

Few of the music projects of Boban Ristevski (also known as Lefterna) are concentrated and based on exploring mostly the ambient / drone and industrial / noise related kinds of music. With elements of minimalism / improvisation / abstraction, etc.; the music is balancing between the more structured forms and the improvised approach.

Philippe Neau creates mental landscapes (“mental-scapes”, if you want). In his music he makes them up of non-narrative sounds, atonal melodies, worrifying glitches, organic textures, hollow field-recordings, abstract notes, abyssal echoes and whispered distant voices. A “disturbing” atmosphere, tinged brightness and darkness, takes shape and enfolds the listener / viewer.

“Boban contacted me for a collaboration. We exchanged files over the Internet and worked on our own, knowing each other’s work, with the idea of creating something that mixes our sound universes. Maybe some sort of stormy, industrial landscape.

In my head, this collaboration could bring more industrial sounds to my interior landscape, take on a more noisy, metallic dimension.” –Philippe Neau

Dolphins Of Venice

“Mutuals”

The Dolphins of Venice resurface to allow a rare glimpse into the inner workings of their collectively shambolic yet soothing soundscaping. Drums clatter and disjointed voices echo in and out of fashion. Synths pulse and ebb to a timecode never known above the salty waves. Will you join the dolphins for some brief relief from gravity and bipedal pressure – sink beneath the water and float weightlessly if only for a short time.

Autonomaton – The teknoiz commitment

Autonomaton – The teknoiz commitment
[mhrk294]

Autonomaton

“The teknoiz commitment”

“The teknoiz commitment” is Autonomaton’s second full length on Mahorka, coming out 7 years after his debut “Polarsternritual” from the start of 2015. In between we have continuously collaborated, having him featured on the “Music for elevators vol.5” and “Eastern Depths IV” VA compilations, remixing krāllār, Protuberance, Teeth of Divine, Sven Phalanx, collaborating with Abu Ama on his recently released “TOTEM” album, and releasing 2 EPs – “Picture in Picture” and “The Underwater Fires”. This new album also features collaborations with Abu Ama and (a very rare occasion) label manager Ivo Petrov (under once upon a time artistname skylined), sampling of Bryn Jones (a.k.a. Muslimgauze), a Vangelis tribute/rework and opening and closing tracks from the very personal alter-ego Tribes of fishes.

But what is teknoiz? “It is universal (in relation to the universe) electronic music. It is the teknological sound of the movement of all particles in their dance through the cosmos. The movement is chaotic and in all dimensions of space. It is not controlled and does not come down to point movements, it is just there, in the whole evolution. The sound comes from each atom and its subparticles after the big bang, the music is an echo of the creation of the universe. But why teknoiz? Because it before everything is tekno, think of the teknological process of creation and, of course, of the term techno. Noiz – because it’s not crystal clear, it’s not and cannot be explicitly defined in spectral and time domains, its roar comes on all frequencies from all angles of the known and unknown cosmos. Set your receivers and hear it all – a convolution of the crazy dance of the particles around and throughout us as living citizens of the universe, an obscure long delayed echo of the fanfares of creation and the symphony of drones of existence.”

Abu Ama – TOTEM

Abu Ama – TOTEM
[mhrk292]

Abu Ama

“TOTEM”

“TOTEM” is Abu Ama’s most personal and most varied release to date, a heavy trip through his musical ways, moments and directions, a stunning album that has been in preparations and waves of reiterations for almost as long as the earliest incarnations of some of the songs were done and, finally, towards the end of 2021, reached the stable form, monumentized on a limited edition of two c90 tapes.

released December 24, 2021

“Abu Ama’s new album TOTEM is a feast for the ears and eyes. Abu Ama, the driving force behind Arabxo, brings dub, experimental, Arabic and Sufi dub in one. On this beautiful double binding he gives an overview of his work. A beauty of an album. As I have known Abu for a long time, full of dedication, always innovative, he takes this album to an amazing height.” — Pedro Maras a.k.a. BedouinDrone

“Abu Ama is an uprising worldwide artist in dub kind of music but presented in his very unique way and style. He’s giving it many names. Lets point out “arabxo”, as an abstract mixture of futuristic middle eastern scapes, voices and instruments with subsonic echoes of dubbed out bass. Sound manipulations far beyond the known in all its features. New and retrospective sounding at the same time. Messages in pads and atmospheres brought in a dub manner. All tunes recorded in one shot, one version at a time. Far further and further in dub science innovation his own way, Abu gladly represents his gypsy roots and creates his own roots mixture of beats and sounds that takes you on a journey with each tune. Each track has individual soul that can be literary felt from the speakers. Each tune carries different specific message, either spiritual, soul, social, ecological, political or related to many different things of today’s earth life he cares about. Abu is displaying a channel of communication between his soul and you, the receiver, whose radio is set to receive this frequent waves of music. Music at its best. Music representing earth and universe at the same moment. All computer made, all dubs and overdubs compiled and arranged as perfect matter wall of sound. Welcome to the world of Abu Ama and dance till you get excited and incredibly overjoyed with warmth and wealth.” –esoundc a.k.a. Autonomaton

Bobby Jewell

“Songs to the cistern”

Bobby Jewell is a musician and ambient dj/radio show host on Resonance Extra and elsewhere and “Songs to the cistern” is his artist debut on Mahorka that was assembled and finalised during the last year specially for the label and also comes out as special limited cassette edition.

“This EP is made from scraps of sounds from various harddrives, phone videos, field recordings and youtube links over the past eight years. Stitching these parts together was just as much down to chance as it was intent and any additional music made to accompany serves sunderpin the found sound or sample. Though I hesitate to say ‘scrapbook’ or ‘collage’ hopefully these tracks point more at importance of wearing your influences on your sleeve working with the media that surrounds you rather than stressing your own individuality against it”

Reina Luisa

“Compilado Yapo / Social Club”

WUKIR SURYADI

“Menolak Tunduk”

Instruments:
Kentongan serie A and B,
Guitar, Industrial Mutant, Solet, Senyawa x Benchlab Pedal serie R prototype

Recorded in Senyawa Mandiri, 2021
Mastered by Joseph Lamont

Sikap menolak tunduk.

Per Scelstak – Tentativas Frustradas

Per Scelstak – Tentativas Frustradas
[mhrk289]

Per Scelstak

“Tentativas Frustradas”

TENTATIVAS FRUSTRADAS (Failed Attempts), Sept. 18th, 2021

“Sometimes you get bored with yourself and, simply, want to get rid of your old life. In pandemic times, such thing is easily possible when you feel in such a bore in lockdown, in isolation. Per Scelstak came into existence when George Christian felt disgust with himself and, also, with the way virtuality has become something exploitative in his life.

In fact, Per was born only as a pseudonym when he sent a concert piece for a competition (for which he didn’t win or earn anything). The secret behind his name can be found in contemporary classical music composers: Per Nörgard, Giacinto Scelsi and Walter Smetak. Influential to the mind behind Per, a certain guy whose last name is Pereira? Quite possibly. Per has only gained an image, though, when his creator felt in a real distress, in his personal life. Per killed the past social profile of George Christian, which was too revealing of his thoughts, too personal, too disastrous to be reached, too naïve. Per is the result of George’s anger against the way personal life is treated in the virtuality, by the social networks. Nowadays, Per is in conciliation with his creator. But not for so long.

Per is different. Per never talks in 1st person. Per is never personal. Per can be read here, or not. You might not understand why such distance, but probably you are closer to him. More than you imagine. Per is another face of reality that wants to be in the realm of different senses. And the reflection of such persona is in his music.

It took a long time to George Christian figure out the existence of Per. But Per has been following his steps since the days he decided to experiment only with electronics in his 3rd album, Three Dimensions of Unrecognizement and Other Unknown Reaches. Maybe he can be found in Exílios 3. Per can also be found in Secretos Universos. His real debut, though, is with two other crazy fellows from India: Hatiyar and Hazardnaut. Per is George into electronic extremities.

TENTATIVAS FRUSTRADAS is the first album under Per’s name and a sum of principles that have been guiding his electronic experimentation. In fact, this principle is just a single surrealist one: automatic writing. Per is completely ignorant concerning on how a machine language operates. Per IS a machine. Per IS a computer. Per IS nothing.

These pieces can be understood as inner failures. No songs, no hooks, no melody that can be easily sung. It requires a real deranged mind to deconstruct and build another world. Per is no strange to post-minimalism, post-spectralism, post-jazz, post-rock, post-psychedelia. His electroacoustics comes from the inwards of MIDI and tone colors’ researches to the spontaneous structural architectures.

Per is NEVER quiet. His brain listens to several voices and do not find peace in a single one. Per embraces all the voices. Heaven, hell, purgatory. Per has been in all of these places. He invites you to dance with your wrist and dry yourself into the waters. His manners may be of electronic, artificial gestures. But what he delivers is plain and pure reality. Cruel REALITY. Your nightmares should be dancing.”

Ilsól – Sarmata

Ilsól – Sarmata
[EEM062]

Ilsól

“Sarmata”

Sarmata is an analysis of emotional concepts that do not give in to any intuitive format of explanation.

A few years ago close members of my family had tragically passed, several dear relationships had been severed and multiple toxic ones established eventually leading me to a complete breakdown.

With nothing else but wonky synthesizers and impractical sound design choices to keep my company an idea to rip out the heavy emotional background noise that I experienced daily was born.

Through audial exploration I managed to return to my child-like self, along with values I thought I had scattered along the way.

I leave this with you as a monument to the time I believed to be the dawn of my being.
