about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Hello, I have made a few changes to the site. Unfortunately, I am not quite finished yet, but it should continue without interruption. I hope you find the changes useful. Stay tuned. Konrad

This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge you and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms.

Will Bangs

“Stay Golden”

In 2011, No-Source Netlabel kicked off a remix contest for Will Bang’s album Stay Gold. As you may remember, Stay Gold was created as a starting point for musical collaboration. Now that the initial contest is over, No-Source brings to you the remix EP “Stay Golden”. The EP contains five tracks, remixing four of the songs off Stay Gold. These five tracks come across less as remixes and more as a compilation of songs by different artists. Interestingly enough all five tracks share a similar indietronic bond with each other. Ilona from Switzerland adds kick drums, effects drenched vocals and a wave of synths. Harvey Kreepar takes his remix to post-progtronic territory with an immense build of layers. Ford Madox Ford, a mysterious project from the mind that brought you Full-Source, takes on three tracks with reverberated vocals and distorted, arpeggiating synths. Stay Golden is a great way to wrap up the 2012 release year for No-Source. Enjoy!

Electric Mirrors – Unlimited Dream Company

Electric Mirrors – Unlimited Dream Company
[NS060]

Electric Mirrors

“Unlimited Dream Company”

Electric Mirrors is an indietronic project from musicians Derek Rutter and Eddie Palmer. They collaborate entirely online, crafting electronic experiments. Once a structure forms, live instruments and vocals are added, steering their songs in a direction closer to the boundaries of pop music. There is a decidedly Americana element to their laid back vocals and dusty sounding lyrics. The vocals are paired next to instrumentation of the downtempo synthpop variety. The end result on “Unlimited Dream Company” sounds like The Flaming Lips remixed by Portishead. Electric Mirrors expertly molds electronic experimentation into layered hooks and song structure. “Unlimited Dream Company” is a great album that needs to be listened from start to finish. Electric Mirrors is definitely a band to watch in years to come.

Cocolixe – Doméstico EP

Cocolixe – Doméstico EP
[NS059]

Cocolixe

“Doméstico EP”

Cocolixe brings us the new EP, “Doméstico.” After Cocolixe’s first EP “Futuro”, the Barcelona-based artist delivers us a more personal and song-oriented work. The longing for the past and puzzlement in front of the future coexist in these four warm electro-pop songs, leading us step by step from melancholy to enthusiasm. Referring to European 60’s and 70’s cinema and music, “Doméstico” invites us to enjoy cosmopolitanism quiet into our private space. “Le futur qui avance” starts off the EP with a trip-hop vibe, a slow beat, hushed vocals. and some nice guitar work. “Giving Myself To You” picks up the pace with a infectious electro beat topped off with a playful little lounge melody. The beat continues strong with the head nodding “Mai” and its guitar driven chorus. The final track, “Swing Low” was originally featured on No-Source’s 50th release compilation, “Another Day, Another Way.”

All It Takes

All It Takes
[NS058]

Multi-Panel

“All It Takes”

“All It Takes” is the third album by Multi-Panel, the solo project of Ludo Maas. Native to the Netherlands, Ludo has been perfecting his style of loop based electronic music pared with vocals and acoustic guitar. On “All It Takes”, Maas blends Lo-fi IDM with Americana, creating a decidedly cinematic experience. Each track blends to the next like scenes in a movie. Nostalgic guitar rifts become the canvas for the synthetic flourishes and expressive synth work. Drum beats and vocals, come and go, on a tidal schedule. The end result is a rich and complex suite of songs that demands to be listened to from start to finish, like a good film. The album was inspired by Maas’ new found love for the cinema, and accompanying soundtracks. Notable inspirations include Tangerine Dream’s Risky Business, Howard Shore’s After Hours, Jon Brion’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Patrick Leonard’s At Close Range, Ennio Morricone’s Days of Heaven, and Jon Hopkins’ Monsters. Maas’ musical influences include Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens, Múm, Colleen, Fennesz, Boards of Canada, Neil Young, Four Tet, and Postal Service. Support the artist further by purchasing this release through Multi-Panel’s Bandcamp Page. http://multi-panel.bandcamp.com/album/all-it-takes

“[MotNiM]”

[MotNiM] (short for Mystery of the Ninth Morning) is a new EP of music by dmyra. At only three songs, these are some of dmyra’s longest and deepest tracks to date. As the album and track titles suggest, this musical work is shrouded in mystery. Each minute is just as cryptic as the last. The final track, a complete epic, will still leave you wanting more. More music and more answers. dmyra told me that “interpretation is everything.” Perhaps that is the key to the meanings within. “goodbye parks and gardens…”

Background Radiation

“False Start EP”

No-Source Netlabel is pleased to bring you the re-release of Background Radiation’s debut EP. The amusingly titled “False Start” was originally released in 2008 on Jog/Shuttle. The 2012 version has been recently remastered and contains a previously unreleased bonus track. This new track, titled “Recovery Basin,” is based upon elements from their 2010 track “Discovery Basin.” “Discovery Basin” can be found on No-Source’s debut compilation “Hey You, Choose Your Own Adventure.” Like Background Radiation’s second EP, “Moot Point,” “False Start” combines acoustic instruments with downtempo electro-pop experimentalism.

Ross Baker – Photographic Reflection

Ross Baker – Photographic Reflection

acoustic, ambient, field recording

[NS054]

Ross Baker

“Photographic Reflection”

Ross Baker has been composing electronic music under the name Second Thought since early 2000. His recent musical endeavors under his birth name have taken a more acoustic path. Ross Baker’s new album, “Photographic Reflection,” is as an electro-acoustic journey through fields and time. The style is in many ways similar to Ross’s previous efforts, “The Blackbird’s Revenge” and “Revolution 2.” The album starts with just field recordings of birds and field work. “Holly Blue” pairs the sound of rain, birds, and an acoustic guitar. “Sleepers Made of Stone” showcases guitar and reverberated vocals in a more traditional folk song structure. “Field’s & Valleys” juxtaposes the sound of birds and a small trickle of water with that of lush ambient textures and grandiose chords. The contemplative title track is a peaceful instrumental with guitar and synths that makes you sit back and daydream. “Song Thrush”, another ambient piece on the album, is coated in distortion. “Clockwork Wasp”, though less traditional, shares similarities with “Sleepers Made of Stone”. “Spires” is an amazing, repetitive, instrumental guitar piece with spoken word dialogue. “Grandpatients” is a lovely reverberated ambient piano piece similar to some piano pieces by Second Thought. The album closes with “Sundown Over Farmer’s Field”, a darker version of “Holly Blue” that fades out in field recordings similar to the opening track. “Photographic Reflection” is an album of contemplation over nostalgia. It makes you want to dig into your past, unearth old photographs, and pour over those memories with a cup of tea.

Apsis Lappet – The Fear of Farewell

Apsis Lappet – The Fear of Farewell
[NS053]

Apsis Lappet

“The Fear of Farewell”

“The Fear of Farewell” is Apsis Lappet’s third release and second full length album. These nine songs are nothing less than face melting, tripped out, synth infused, pop music. Apsis Lappet has always been experimental in nature. Fans will be happy to know that “The Fear of Farewell” pushes new boundaries, contains many catchy hooks, and experiments in pop song structure. This album shares some sonic similarities with Apsis Lappet’s debut, “Suite Happy Sweet”. The track “Quickly Slow Me Down” has an infectious chorus, and an excellent keyboard solo outro. “Orgy” is a mellow, distorted fusion of heavy guitars, piano, and far-off vocoded vocals. The title track is builds with a simple chant into an instrumental crescendo. “Rejected” is a remixed version of an unreleased track. The Jenova 7 remix gives the track a heavy does of downtempo breakbeats. The album winds both up and down with “Anaerobic”, a short musical track with a long outro of static, radio hiss, and experimental electronics. “Hidden Track” closes the album with a melancholy piano ballad. “The Fear of Farewell” is Apsis Lappet’s most cohesive and mature batch of songs yet.

Sergi Boal – Nylon & Turtle

Sergi Boal

“Nylon & Turtle”

Sergi Boal (from Barcelona) is an accomplished classical guitarist. No-Source and Acustronica are pleased to bring you his debut album, “Nylon & Turtle”. This album contains nine original compositions that solely focus on Boal’s acoustic guitar playing. Plucking and strumming fight for dominance in each of these dynamic tracks. Boal is quoted as saying that he is influenced in some way by the music of Baden Powell, Brad Meldauh, Radiohead, and Jose Gonzalez. Tracks like “Yorke (to Thom Yorke), directly reference Radiohead, While “Is there anybody out there?” might be a nod to the Pink Floyd track of the same name. Cover and design by Josep Maria Poch / Elisa Llorens. Photo by Isabella Antonelli. This release is a joint release with the wonderful Acustronica.
