about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

– Catalina Villegas-Burgos. (album artwork artist)

///

It felt unlikely that this recording session would actually happen in Sofia, Bulgaria, but I am really happy that it did and I can share this moment in time. I had played a concert in Sofia that same evening hosted by Tsvetan Tsvetanov of the experimental Bulgarian National Radio program Alarma Punk Jazz. After the show finished I rushed over to the basement studio, AD 57, just before midnight. Sound engineer Yoncho Pavlov generously agreed to record this session super late and we recorded until just before 2 am in the morning. After the session I ran back to the apartment where I was staying with Canadian activist scholar Ezra Winton, packed my bags and rushed to the airport for a flight to Berlin that was set to depart at around 6am.

Despite all the rushing around this recording, the mood and feeling of the sound reminds me of the stars. In certain parts of Sofia there aren’t a lot of street lights and the sky feels close to touch. The mountains that shape the Bulgarian landscape also hold a presence and vibe in the capital city. While playing piano I was thinking of the sky above, the stars and the lands around Sofia and the Balkan region. This project is important to me because of my Bulgarian roots, my father is Macedonian Bulgarian. It was a long road from growing up in Canada to finally making it back to Bulgaria and to finding a path to work on this recording and music in Sofia. I hope that you can feel the emotional resonance in the piano tones.

Another layer to this recording is the fact that recording took place in the context of the Israeli state’s military attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza. The recording took place in November and the horrifying news coming out of Gaza spanked an intense need to take action around the world. In the week before this recording I had been with friends at protests and events to mobilize for Palestine in Montréal, Amsterdam and London. I was often thinking about Palestine during this recording session and the critical importance of sustaining an involvement and finding ways to support Palestine throughout my lifetime. Walking with and supporting the Palestinian struggle for freedom and against colonialism is one of the essential progressive causes of our time, we must never be silent and always find ways to stand up when Palestine is in the headlines and critically when it is not. I certainly was thinking of my Palestinian friends and comrades around the world who have played such an important role in my life over the last decades throughout this recording, that is the honest truth. I hope that you can hear the sense of commitment and urgency around supporting Palestine that I have carried and acted upon my entire adult life.

Thank you for listening to this solo piano recording from Sofia, it means a lot to me, sending love from Montreal.
– Stefan Christoff.

Andreas Davids – Weltraum

[mhrk437]

Andreas Davids

“Weltraum”

released April 6, 2025

Andreas Davids is maybe best known for his electro-industrial project XOTOX with albums released since 1998 gaining quite some attention in his native Germany and around the world. In 2023, for the project’s 25th year anniversary the “Ich Bin Da / Ich Funktioniere” album was released.

On Mahorka Andreas appeared first as one half of the Natura Est dark ambient duo with British electronic producer Tony Young (Autoclav1.1). After their self-titled monolithic debut on Ant-zen in 2018, Mahorka released their “Second” album, a new chapter of colossal, brooding ambient, where light is slowly crushed by shade, within a multi-faceted arena of sound.

In 2020 Andreas Davids released on Mahorka under his real name “7 Jahre vor der Gegenwart” – an emotional rollercoaster running from dark ambient and broken structures to technoid rhythms and sequences, and “Isolation” – his deepest and most personal solo album, also on in a beautiful cassette edition. In 2022 the label also published “Space Ambient Pop”, the genre-defining collaboration album of Andreas Davids + Sven Phalanx, also in cassette edition.

With “Weltraum”, his new solo EP on Mahorka, Andreas Davids deals with one of his favorite motifs: Space. Since his early childhood he has been fascinated by science-fiction and adventures in space, either in books, comics or movies. Somewhere between Ambient, IDM, Berlin School and Electronica, he created a place for the listeners to experience their own adventures.

Created and mastered by Andreas Davids in 2024 at Separate Room, MTH.

Xu + Oberlin – Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment

[mhrk435]

Xu + Oberlin

“Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment”

Oberlin is the musical project of Alexander Holtz from Koblenz (Coblence), Germany. The centerpiece of his instruments is a modular eurorack synthesizer, which he often combines with guitar, piano and field-recordings. His music invites the listener to contemplate, it often is developing quite slowly, it never demands to be in a certain focus of attention, but it never tries to fulfil any ambient-clichees in the sense of creating just an aural wallpaper either. It is musical improvisation maybe in a more subtle kind of way. Oberlin has released music on Handstitched*, cosmic winnetou, Thirsty Leaves, Vaagner, Hibernate, Secret Press, AOsmosis, some tapes and downloads by himself and, notably two beautiful cassette albums on Mahorka.

Xu is Nicola Fornasari from Cremona, Italy. He began his musical career in 1995 as the bass player and singer for the hardcore band Entropia. Starting in 2007, he began exploring new musical projects, including Xu(e) (a duo with Andrea Poli), Xu (his solo project), La Petite Vague (a duo with Diego Balconi), and That Which is Not (a duo with Pier Giorgio Storti / Belaqua Shua) in 2020. His music has been released on a variety of labels, including Fluid, Whitelabrecs, Shimmering Moods, Slow Tone Collages, Krysalisound, Eilean, Flaming Pines, Rottenman Editions, Rohs! / Lontano, Twice Removed, Cathedral Transmissions, Triple Moon, Thirsty Leaves Music, Audio Gourmet, Tessellate, Haze, Many Feet Under, Subterranean Tide, and Laverna. He has collaborated with artists such as Darren Harper, Bill Seaman and Francis Gri.

“Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment” is the third collaborative album between Xu and Oberlin. For this project, Oberlin provided acoustic guitar sketches, asking Xu to process and transform them into the foundation of the tracks. The recordings were then manipulated through a modular Eurorack system or altered using the Samplr iPad app. Oberlin handled the final polishing and mastering. This work marks the first chapter of an ongoing experiment. In the next chapter, currently in progress, it will be Oberlin who develops everything, starting from the material provided by Xu. Stay tuned.

Released March 23, 2025 as free (cc) digital download and beautiful limited cassette edition.

Recorded in the Summer of 2023 in Koblenz, Germany and Cremona, Italy

Fabien Robbe – Skeudennoù

[mhrk436]

Fabien Robbe

“Skeudennoù”

Fabien Robbe is a composer and multi-instrumentalist (notably piano, trumpet and synthesizers). Established in the heart of Brittany, France, he rose to prominence with traditional music dance ensemble Menestra. He has transposed elements of this background in ‘trad’ to an eclectic mix of jazz, free improvisation (under the guidance of François Tusques) and experimental electronic music.

“Skeudennoù” is his debut solo album on Mahorka, after 2 collaboration albums with Julien Palomo on the label – their “Feeling for the latch” debut as a duo from 2021 and “Miniatures” from 2024. Julien Palomo is also present here on this album, the last track being an eclectic abstract ambient collaboration with him.

Released March 30, 2025 as free (cc) digital download and in beautiful limited Digipak CD edition.

“Skeudennoù” is perfectly showcasing the notable jazz, traditional music and free improvisation composer and performer’s diverse approaches to the experimental electronic music world, providing for a strikingly fresh and unique listen, a milestone album for Fabien we will be definitely returning to.

Recorded in Brittany between 2020 and 2024 by Fabien Robbe.

Joachim Stiller – Music For Wireless Telegraphs

Joachim Stiller – Music For Wireless Telegraphs
[mhrk398]

Joachim Stiller

“Music For Wireless Telegraphs”

Two one hour sound works inspired by and based on, and I quote: “the ominous feeling of winter, dark clouds, the fear of getting lost – and nesting somewhere that feels safe”.

Influences include the soundtracks of Petscop and Nier: Automata, Autechre, 7038634357, COIL, ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’ (The Knife, PlanningToRock, Mt. Sims) and a recurring nightmare.

Released on Mahorka June 17, 2024 as free (cc) digital download and limited double cassette edition.

Commissioned by Sanneke Kleingeld, one of Radio Tempo Não Pàra’s curators, for their ‘ik houd het nest warm’ radio program that aired on the 15th of December 2023.

TNP’s curator Kleingeld had heard an episode of Sounds Between Here and Nowhere (a radioshow by Luca Heydt and Mees Joachim) on Big Toilet Radio and proceeded to discover the artist’s Paradise Mixes made for the 2023 Birds of Paradise exhibition – which featured many unreleased tracks made under Mees Joachim’s Joachim Stiller, Absolute Candor and Zalmroze monikers – and proceeded to commission the artist to create a special mix for the radio station.

The sound work began to live a life on its own – becoming a sound collage of self-sampled unreleased works and new recordings centered around, but not limited to, synthesized sound.

As a fairly ambient / new age sound was warranted for the occasion, Mees Joachim took on their Joachim Stiller moniker to create two entirely original 1 hour sound works, with ‘Radiophonic Sound bath #2’ being the selected piece to be aired on Radio TNP.

The Stiller moniker has been around for a while, albeit used for art / karaoke performances, installations and video works prior to 2023, when it was first used for a music release: ‘And The Overstaying of Welcomes’ in collaboration with Absolute Candor.

Joachim Stiller’s debut album, ‘In Shallow Water’, was released by Bad Boy Jesus Tape Club in April 2024. With these two sound works, released on Mahorka in May 2024, expanding the sound of Joachim Stiller even further.

Credits:
Performed, Produced, Recorded, Mixed, Mastered, etc. by Mees Joachim as Joachim Stiller in 2023, with some recordings dating back to 2021.

Featuring several synthesizers, sequencers, guitar, harp, trumpet and a Nintendo DS.

Synth by Joachim Stiller
Drum Programming by Absolute Candor
Guitar, harp, trumpet by Zalmroze

Special thanks to Ivo Petrov, Sanneke Kleingeld, Cara Mayer, Luca Heydt, Mitko Mitkov, ambient overlord Brian Eno and Birds of Paradise Festival.

Somnoroase Păsărele

“AUTO[2]”

Released May 5, 2024 as free (cc) digital download and limited cassette edition.

“From the get-go, it’s been pretty obvious that there is no set formula or path to Gili Mocanu’s Somnoroase Păsărele project, with no strict rules that would block off one approach or another – just a commitment to working in the moment and staying open to whatever signals are there to be channeled. Frans de Waard summed it up quite well in his notes on the first ‘AUTO’ installment, saying “It is a bit of everything; one can hear the influence of techno music, industrial music, minimalism, and cosmic synthesizers […] and while they are finished as compositions, I don’t think these pieces are to be understood as pop songs”, adding that the vibe is more about stimulating the mind than moving the feet.

This collection brings together a different set of pieces into the self-contained system that is ‘AUTO’, weaving them together into a new whole possessed by the same spirit, where unusual sounds are rejuvenated, recycled and transmuted into a resonant landscape that feels like it has a life of its own.” –MMercury

Lezet – Meld 8
[mhrk390]

Lezet

“Meld 8”

Lezet is an experimental one-man music project hailing from Pozega, Serbia and releasing music since 2006. Being an avid music fan in love with many different styles, genres and approaches in music, Igor Jovanovic tries to explore and incorporate many of them into the sound of Lezet. Igor sees music as an artistic practice which should be fun and exciting for those making it, and feels fortunate enough to have many friends and fellow music makers allowing him to grow artistically by collaborating with him.

After more than a decade since the previous “Meld” album was released, Igor decided to revive the series where each song in the album is made with a different collaborator.

The previous volumes were the albums that Igor loved making / being part of more than any of his solo endeavours. The “Meld” series galvanised his venturing in producing music in duos and groups since.

“Thanks to all the artists who collaborating with me on “Meld 8″ and for making the album as brilliant as it is!”

Collaborators featured on “Meld 8”:

RDKPL – “Czech noisound maker. Aural manipulations within the borders of power noise, experimental electronica, downtempo glitch to electroacoustic industrial.” RDKPL.bandcamp.com

Wilfried Hanrath – “I am 66 years old and a happy father and grandfather. I learned classical guitar, and taught myself bass, drums and percussion, and keyboards, synthesizers. And, like I like listening to different styles and genres in music, I play different genres and styles. Solo works are one branch in my activities; more fulfilling – be it in live situations or in the studio, is to come together with others in collaborations.” wilfriedhanrath.bandcamp.com

Kleshas – Christopher B. Arnett’s recent moniker exploring melodic experimental and classical music even further than the music he released under his own name.

Dj Odraz – Ken Willbond started the project after a decade and a half of making music as Protecious. The music is influenced by metal, hip-hop, funk, horror movie soundtracks and many other styles and genres. facebook.com/Protecious

Particules

“Escape Path”

Particules is a collaborative music project between Victor Prodanov (xDEx) and Tsvetan Momchilov (Chillov).

Occasionally rhythmic and highly processed, yet remaining evolving, immersive, and meditative to some, the Particules project started as non-formal jam sessions and later evolved into a full-scale live performance act.

The most challenging task during the recording of their debut album “Escape Path” was to capture the unique and spontaneous live act synergy in the studio. All tracks are recorded live, with no editing and minimal mixing in Varna’s hot and foggy January 2024.

Vanishing

“Corridor Vanishing Corridor”

Vanishing Corridor is the synthesis of American sound experimenters Kingo Sleemer (Western Maryland) and Chris Campbell (St. Paul, Minnesota).

Campbell has been recording dark ambient/sound collage/field-recorded soundscapes as The Creeping Man since 2017, both as self-releases and on various labels (Hrea’m Recordings, Mono Time, Dub Cthonic, Veinte 33, Preston Capes Tapes, Wormhole World, and Shady Ridge Records), most recently finding inspiration via collaborations with like-minded artists.

Kingo has been part of the experimental music collective Halaka since the late 90s, with whom he’s recorded and released many albums in many formats; he has recently recorded and released music as Allele Cog Experiment, HOZ and Experimental College. He is also a co-founder of Pile Records.

The two share an affinity for the absurd, the obtuse, and the off-kilter.

Vanishing Corridor started as a back-and-forth exercise of sound sharing and manipulation, without preconceived themes or intentions.

The project debuts on February 18, 2024 on Mahorka with a beautiful self-titled cassette release.

“We are all deaf”

“We are all deaf” is the third full length album by ЧЕРНИХОВ | CERNICHOV, a noise/ambient duo based between Brussels and Milan, of US (David Gutman) and Italian (Marco Mazzucchelli) nationality.

“The album’s concept gravitates around the deep and actual contraposition given by the human strive for exploration: on one hand there is the total deafness towards the heartbeat of planet Earth, from a vibrational perspective expressed by the Schuman frequency, a sub bass frequency that can be resumed as the intimate physical expression of how our ecosystem relates in its environment. On the other hand, the exploration’s focus is monopolised by the infinite horizon that the eyes define. The Sputnik satellite becomes the first extraterrestrial exploration means, kept in contact with signals emitted at 40Hz. On these two main frequency inputs, the first as carrier for cross-modulation treatment and the second as a BPM driver, we explored a possible scenario of sonic interactions, ending with what we see as the soundtrack of our personal existence in this 4 dimensional world.”

“in the beginning of the summer i acquired a broken electric organ from the 70s. after renovating it i fell in love with it’s raw sound. it was alive and it had a story to tell.

later i got the chance to travel trough central europe. it was an almost non-stop journey. travelling at time more than 15+ hours a day. your body stops feeling the motion. the landscape became a moving decor. a peculiar soundtrack started to form from all the road noises, the static of the radio and the low chatter of the other passengers. time became irrelevant and abstract. my thoughts formed a stream, shifting from sleep and wake. detached form the outside world nothing truly existed.

when i got back home i wanted to experience this state again – this constant moving, this silence that was never really silent. a place outside of time.

the organ + some field recordings done on the go formed a huge mass sonically inspired by this trip but also by my search of a sanctuary.

омайна тишина, погълни ме! (bewitching silence, swallow me whole!) is an album dedicated to the need of nothingness and the passage of time. as anxiety saturates our everyday life we find ourselves struggling to find space. this album provided me with the space i needed and i hope it will do the same for you.”

Philippe Blache – Across the Silence and the Shade

Philippe Blache – Across the Silence and the Shade

Philippe Blache

“Across the Silence and the Shade”

With a sense of musical introspection, incantatory melodicism and cinematic dread Philippe Blache (from Day Before Us) goes back on the forefront with a highly thrilling melancholic drama for sonic driftscapes and devastating walls of power electronics tempered by organic ethereal vibes. Detached and evanescent melodies are battling against the obscured, unsettling, stormy and weary industrial atmosphere. Powerful internal narrations and incantatory voices at distance occasionally come into the mix. With its performative bitter anthems, its ritualistic then almost religious nature, the album invites the listener to be progressively mersed in a netwok of allusive images, investing pagan mythologies, poetical escapism and christian symbology. This is the second musical offspring signed under his own name after a prolific production under the moniker of “Day Before Us”, veteran project in sorrowful dark wave neoclassicism. «Across the silence and the shade» is an essential and mournful post-ambient journey which involves an emotional catharsis.

Released November 17, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and beautiful limited digipak CD edition.

Cognition Delay – Mostly Dreaming

Cognition Delay

“Mostly Dreaming”

Cognition Delay is a duo of US artist Jeremy Rice (Abdicant, Curious Inversions) and UK artist Paul Alexander (Pandacetamol, Fluffy Inside) who as Kahvi Collective label mates admired each other’s contrasting approaches in music and felt compelled to collaborate. Their defining “Strange Sedatives” album (from 2022 on Rednetic) continues to amaze and has shown that Cognition Delay is a unique meeting of musical mindsets. While they have never met in-person, Paul & Jeremy have found a collaborative sweet spot that melds their respective solo projects into something new and shiny. A refined sound, within an undefined genre.

It is with pride and delight, for both the artists and the label, that their new “Mostly Dreaming” album appears on the Mahorka imprint, released June 17, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and beautiful limited digipak CD edition with outstanding artwork by Jeremy Rice.

Analog layers, hypnotic passages, half-heard conversations, morphing rhythms, fuse with thrilling bursts of unexpected melody. The experience is deep, immersive, ethereal, even vaguely nostalgic.

Repeated listens will yield hidden sonic treasure. Truly a soundtrack for your dreams.

Adriano Cava – Lineology

Adriano Cava

“Lineology”

Adriano Cava is an artist based in Turin, Italy. He is part of the New Weird Italia collective and co-founder of the “screw wave” label Riforma. Adriano plays with tape, electricity and various sonic masses to explore sounding environments.

Adriano Cava’s debut on Mahorka was finalized under the name “Lineology” after a few iterations of the sonic contents, names, sides order and design in discussions with the label.

“These tracks originated from a basic approach to sounds. Focusing only on the frequencies’ “mass”, I warped and sculpted it following irregular imaginary lines.

When some granular samplers, a digital delay and a synth got stuck in a circular resampling chain, they started generating feedbacks, saturation and clipping. Listening to and contemplating this “sonic stalemate” I began to deepen it by stretching and pitching down each texture and each note.

The “magnetic” side replays the same game using an old magnetophone (a Castelli tape recorder borrowed from a friend). Each “digital” track is overdubbed in a singular reel loop and then expanded again, adding few new elements.

Both processes were dark and unconscious. The eight (4+4) tracks, split in two sides of a tape, are still open, intentionally released without a final edit.”

Released March 25, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and limited cassette edition.

Teeth Of Divine

“Струиндол (soundtrack Sessions)”

This EP was conceived during the recording sessions for the soundtrack to the short film “Струиндол” (“Struindol”) of the director Zornitsa Georgieva. The recordings are, again, completely spontaneous, following the ideas from Teeth of Divine’s previous album “Act I – Genesis” regarding the “presence-happening-reflection” process.

Recording artists:
Boyan Avramov – vocals, noises, dvoyanka, bells
Alexey Nikolov – electric cello
Asya Andonova – vocals
Yasen Penchev – guitar, drones, mastering

Released March 18, 2023
