Curious Inversions returns to Kahvi with a new six track ep called ‘Standard Deviations’. Back with his usual swirling arpeggios and Tangerine-Dream-meets-Lackluster feel, this is the ideal release to while away a long rainy autumn afternoon.

Unlike his previous release Schoolyard Crows, Curious Inversions shows us a bit of diversification with a couple of tracks that aren’t unlike Boards of Canada or Arovane.

Very detailed, descriptive but with a sentimental edge. Acceptance Criteria and Interlope are good examples of this, with the former progressively building into an epic track that will have you re-listening.

Definitely favourite track is the very addictive Acceptance Criteria with Interlope coming a close second with it’s Mellotron inspired flutes :) Enjoy!

‘BRidGe,’ Nen.T.E.’s latest offering and the first one on Sucu Music out on July 14th, 2015, for the Netlabel Day 2015 special event, is based on two live performances recorded between October 2014 (tracks one to five, as part of a live installation at ‘Scritture Mobili’ – Mobile Writings – an exhibition by Sicilian artist Michele Lambo) and February 2015 (tracks SF one to five). Both performances were held as a single stream-of-consciousness-like improvisation for electronics, guitar, rhythms and effects, in a way not so dissimilar to what the likes of Tangerine Dream used to do way back in the early seventies, but with a psych-droney-ambient feel that is third millennium to the quick. For this release, however, Nen.T.E. chose to dissect their jams into proper tracks, which on the one side makes the production more accessible to a lot of people, on the other side leaves out nothing of the essence and the beauty of their music.

A special release this month. To coincide with Netlabel Day 2015, we welcome back our very own Faex Optim.

Known otherwise as the missing third member of Boards of Canada, Optim’s works build on the same sentimental, atmospheric and detailed style and methodology yet he goes just that little bit further with this eight track EP entitled ‘Mercury’.

Building up from Cyclemagic, which is a fantastic introduction to the whole EP and taking us on a dreamy journey from one textured masterpiece to another, with epic tracks such as Thanet Well and Atlas 9, mixed in with smaller teasers to keep you waiting for more.

Extra credits for this release: Mastering by Mnemonic Studios, and superb cover artwork by our very own Anto whose artwork has appeared on many Kahvi releases over the years.

Favorite tracks: Cyclemagic, Atlas 9, Middle moon. Well, all of them really. If you’re a Boards of Canada fan, you’re going to love this amazing EP!

Life swirls and twirls without an end to infinity, and so do we… There’s nothing stable and coherent, as much as we’d like to believe that divine lie. The best, perhaps most creative, example of this perception is the stupendous cinematic experience – Holy Motors (2012) which demonstrates exactly that – the infinitude of roles, masks and scripts we follow daily – who to a radical degree and who moderately and consciously. This album speaks of this and more so; it is a transitional passage for me, an omen of an old-new beginning – the transformation of my long-awaiting master-plan from abstract theory into practice. Meaning, creating my own brute universe of otherworldly classical music, which is loosely based on pseudo-coherent ideas of sound, rhythm, motion etc’. But at the same breath is second to none in its far-out bold vision of what an alternative universe of music could be.

Happy Puppy is pleased to add the music of Taker 51 from Spain to our little home on the net. It’s the personal project of Raul Díaz, where he blends an organic mix of electric and acoustic sounds, ranging from ambient to industrial.

I supposed it would be labeled as ‘post-rock’ (a term I’ve never really understood), but there’s also some nice progressive rock elements, as heard on the opening track “Supercell”. It’s got lots of cool synths, guitars and drums. It’s nicely arranged, produced and played and we hope you enjoy it as much as we.

After a significant break from Kahvi shores, Boelex is back with a fantastic six track ep with his latest work.

Back with his trademark booming basslines, detailed percussion and moody melodies, amongst the goodies in the EP are Swamp Gas Part 2 rework and a guest appearance by Data Rebel, with a remix of New Beginning.

Listen, and drift off into the depths of one of the greats of electronic music. Tracks of choice for this fan: Galaxy Black for the definitive Boelex sound and New Beginning with a refreshing lemon twist thanks to Data Rebel.

t’s difficult to put this next release in any words, something quite so unique hasn’t appeared on Kahvi shores before. Trev Wignall is an accomplished ‘foremost pioneer of electric violin’ and his tracks are probably the best definition of how an electric violin should be used. Those of you remembering the good old 8 bit home computer days, can probably recognise the lead appearing in many of these tracks the same as me – as soon as I heard the tracks I thought ‘that sounds like a 21st century c64 lead’.

Some of the chord changes and dynamics of these tracks are quite something, with the sublime Dark Priest beginning the EP, to Vindicator that takes you underground and out into the daylight again. Ending the EP with the 16 minute masterpiece ‘The turning of a stone’ with delicate plucks of the violin strings. I think you’ll agree that this is probably one of those releases that will go down as the defining sound of a genre. Enjoy this amazing example of digital meets analogue!
