about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Superfreak

“Explain to me your meme”

It had been a while since Superfreak had started pretending to understand what everyone was talking about. He looked at the memes and smiled just for fear of being left out. At that point he decided to update himself by opening the semiotics manuals.
This album is on his journey between the generation of meaning and the memetic irony. A failed journey translated in music in a cheerful but melancholic Casio tone-saxophone-drums weird pop.

Superfreak quote: “Special Thanks to Lexia. Rivista di Semiotica Viralità. A book that turned me on Memes, semiotics and all that boring stuff that I put in the lyrics. Music, English, Theories in this album are wrong or imperfect, as imperfect is my life”.

Various Artist – Nostress Netlabel Anniversary Compilation Vol.10 – A.A. VV. Lazarus’s indifference to the miracle of resurrection

Various Artist – Nostress Netlabel Anniversary Compilation Vol.10 – A.A. VV. Lazarus's indifference to the miracle of resurrection
[NN_Comp010_03_23]

Various Artist – Nostress Netlabel Anniversary Compilation Vol.10

“A.A. VV. Lazarus’s indifference to the miracle of resurrection”

Tenth and last Anniversary Compilation with 8 unreleased tracks.

Entrano a far parte della famiglia Nostress due novità musicali che si presentano con brevi ed efficaci parole: WIRES ON MOON è un duo livornese di musica elettronica composto da Isabella Mentessi e Massimo Ruberti. Dreampop, synthpop, psichedelia:

“…ci piaceva l’immagine dei cavi sulla Luna intesi come il groviglio di cavi audio ed elettrici che invadono ogni studio di musica, che strisciano sul suolo lunare e alla Luna si collegano; c’e’ quindi l’ elemento moderno che si interfaccia con l’elemento arcaico (la Luna) e con tutti i suoi miti, inclusi quelli della fantascienza moderna”;

e FANGU ovvero l’alterego, produttore di musica elettronica sperimentale, di Leonardo Vetrano (già chitarrista di: The Brilliants At Breakfast / Cinema noir / dasES):

“…l‘idea si è sviluppata a cavallo tra il 2020 e il 2021, quando in pieno lockdown, vietato qualunque tipo di aggregazione, ferme prove e concerti con la band, non si fermò la necessità di creare e soprattutto la voglia di farlo con gli amici, anche a distanza. Per questo FanGu, anche se nasce come progetto solista non lo è mai stato, sono così nate le collaborazioni con: Il mio Giardino Prensile (Varcocu); Ottica Siluraro Project (A Tia Taliu); Less (Lù RE); Roof Size (IOCU); Mammut nel Caos (Mantra). Il singolo incluso nel decimo volume della Compilation, “Beddu Cottu e Cataliatu” è stato ideato insieme a Mauro Maniscalco “Maniscalco”, fondatore ed attuale bassista dei dasEs. Infatti la linea di basso elettrico è protagonista del brano, con il suo insistente incalzare, che ne caratterizza la melodia;

Arabia Saudade – Estudando a América do sul

Arabia Saudade

“Estudando a América do sul”

PLOT
The third and last album of ARABIA SAUDADE completes the sad story of their Arab Character. Arrived in Brazil with big luggage full of Saudade on the first album (Americ) our character started loving the carnival frenzy of its new home (Le Petit Senegallia) and now is ready to discover all the countries of South America. His trip driven by Wikipedia info leads him to unconditional love for the continent. But when the joy reaches the apex it is time to go back home. As Joao Gilberto taught us: joy has an end and sadness doesn’t.

ALBUM:
The 12 new tracks recorded by ARABIA SAUDADE are one for each South American country (except Brazil which was the main theme of the previous albums). Each lyrics is focused on something taken from the Wikipedia page and then explored live by the Italian band. It took four years to check all the news with real intercontinental trips. During these trips Arabia Saudade embedded Cazzurillo because their Portuguese was still translated with Google Translate, and she was the only one that could understand our sad guys.

REFERENCE:
The travelling helped Arabia Saudade to discover tons of new music and evolve their arabpunk sound. We can sum up in these references:

Downtown Boys, Gal Costa, Bad Bunny, Gong, La Tigresa Del Oriente, Wendy Sulca

Enrico Falbo

“Arunachala”

A Netlabel Day 2022 Release

Despite its electronic undertones, Enrico takes more of an explicitly classical direction with this subtly dark orchestral piece. It evokes the impulsive journey from languishing in the shade beneath the voluminous leaves of a sacred fig tree to keeping apace with the torrent of a stream by horseback on a baking hot day, from anxiety to a disquieting abandon.

Downtown Deceit

“Live At C L U B D E A D”

FAKE jazz FAKE visuals FAKE venue FAKE live FAKE spoken word FAKE sax FAKE AI FAKE timeline FAKE cyberpunk a e s t h e t i c s HYBRID lyrics

Album includes cyberpunk ramblings and 3 visuals, including the descriptions used to teach Midjourney AI to generate them:

(Front) Heavy distortions, jazz club collapsing over the immense weight of its own free jazz orchestra’s talents, players smoking, late night, 1950s downtown music club feel, black and white film, high contrast, overexposed over cosmic radiation, elegant and doomed, instruments in hand they keep doing what they do best, cursing at the night away with out-of-tune saxophones, guitars, drums, bass, all sweaty, curved, ties loose, the audience crushed by rubble.

(Back) The night of the murder, 1950s downtown street at night, crisp photographic black and white film, overly realistic and lurid, almost tabloid-like, people running away from the gunshots, blood drops on the floor, a faceless victim, the murderer spitting on the cadaver just before walking away and a cool and cursed free jazz band playing furiously over the whole scene while smoking narcotics-laced cigarettes, intoxicated and indifferent, as if nothing in the world mattered but their own jam.

(Inlay) The city’s fast asleep, the insides of smoky club, underground, illegal dealings happening as cops turn a blind eye, spoken word being enunciated hastily over an open microphone in front of a half-asleep audience of nighthawks, pimps and tricksters and past-their-prime drugged up whores, indifferent, palpable weight of numerous broken dreams, rumor has it that no one should walk outside, or else… black and white scratched up Kodak film, 1950s feel, dimly lit, cigarette smoke envelops, heavy radiation, both outside and inside equally dangerous, the man keeps talking as no one even tries acknowledging the truth, its harbinger, jazz band lazily playing along, desecrated, defeated, lightyears into the past.

Music For Sleep – Esaminazioni Cosmiche

Music For Sleep

“Esaminazioni Cosmiche”

Andrea Porcu is a composer and producer from Sardinia, Italy, most notably known for his project Music For Sleep and as the mastermind of ROHS! RECORDS, a label that has done great in the international music scene, including with the very dear sublabel Lontano Series.

First through Dub, Reggae applied to techno, and in recent years dedicating himself exclusively to experimental and ambient music, Andrea’s intense and prolific work as Music For Sleep has resulted in sorts of a personal and intimate music diary of over 60 albums since 2016. His output, both as artist and label manager, has been a huge inspiration for us and a source of numerous favorite albums through the years. So we are really happy to welcome him with a special Music For Sleep debut on Mahorka!

“Esaminazioni Cosmiche” was written and composed between January and February 2021 during a period of introspection, about the world I lived in (and still live in) all through an external, cosmic gaze.

This album is dedicated to the Italian ambient minimalist movement of the seventies and eighties.

Released February 3, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and a limited edition cassette on Mahorka.

Jacopo Buda

“light experience”

Composed, recorded and mixed by Jacopo Buda between October and December 2021.
Jacopo Buda: modular synth, efx, voice.
Mastered by M.qr at RagnoStudio, Italy.

photos by Jacopo Buda
design by EMERGE

The album is a journey to the discovery of light through the exclusive use of modular synth and effects – this time the trumpet is absent.

I am personally fond of this work, its realization has only been possible through a deep meditative process that manifested itself during the effects manipulation game. This is where the silence appeases the mind that instinctively connects and roams to the listening of the present moment.
