‘Quirky & Perky’ is exactly that. It’s an eccentric, ebullient set of sounds from staccato synthesisers and old electronic toys, with quaint and peppy peculiarities, a modicum of metallic percussion and lots of bubbly, unconventional cheerfulness.
Toxic Chicken is the main solo project of the prolific but always inventive multimedia artist Kai Nobuko.

The original invitation for this project:
“Choose an acoustic instrument (preferably a traditional one of your region or one that is used in your area’s traditional music) that you have not learned to play. The more alien it is to you the better. You are not allowed to play any instrument you feel comfortable with.
Make a piece for it that does not use any electronics. It must be exclusively acoustic (it must be possible to play it in a place where there is no electricity).
You can use a computer to record the piece and even for multitrack recording (the piece could still be performed without electricity if there were enough musicians).
Just remember the two main guidelines: “Make it as hard for yourself as possible and try all the things you usually avoid” and “the piece must be performable without electricity”.

An over half an hour long harsh noise navigation with definitely atmospheric, hypnotic and dark approach slightly marked with traces of distorted ambient, far from violent sonic abuse typical for the genre. A psychedelic, noisy journey with the Illinois artist.
GoH-838: Polarlicht – Search for All Viewers
A haunted industrial ambient navigation, where pulsating sound waves of distorted heavy drones evoke the dark, dreamy atmosphere. A soundscape of a nightmare, in which you dwell in the everlasting confusion. Truly a disturbing work!
GoH-837: GIMLET – Harming One or Another, Who is Keeping Count?
MGI’s side project GIMLET strikes back with a crushing work of ultimate harsh noise brutality including metal junk abuse and violent blasting suddenly sinking into the blurry, dark ambient drone parts filled with sampled spoken word material to comment the present reality of war, violence, addictions and cultural decay of the western world. All this concluded with final opus of dark cinematic ambient. A masterpiece not to discuss with.
GoH-833: Ritual Heaps – Deep Harm 4 Masterless Hearts
Two flowing smooth but often transforming industrials full of pulses and machine-like drones mixed with blurry ambience and oniric melodies. Like a soundtrack for a dream, where pleasant parts shift with disturbing tension. Another unique work of high artistic value from New Zealand’s Ritual Heaps.
