about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Javier Moraga – Violence is in the air

Javier Moraga

“Violence is in the air”

In times of social revolution against an abusive economic system, in a Valparaíso that does not yield to brutal police repression, there is also a strong cultural response to this unpopular government that does not listen to any slogan. The artistic expressions that confront this whirlwind of state violence are varied, contributing with creative beauty influenced by the social movement, and it is there where electronic music is also present.

Javier Moraga is one of the most important representatives and diffusers of this musical style in the Valparaíso region. Week after week he delights us with records on his radio program “Sala de Máquinas” (Room of Machines) on the radio Valentín Letelier, broadcasting on the modulated frequency of the “V Costa”, new albums by producers of national and international electronica. His musical knowledge is vast, he has publications in the most important Buenos Aires netlabels such as Modismo and Epasonidos. Furthermore, as a sound technician, we can affirm that his new album “Violence is in the air” leaves no doubt about his great musical experience. We will listen to nine songs that cross the sounds of ambient, glitch and experimental, with great sonic amplitude, expressive frequencies, varied and enveloping samples with a clear avant-garde tendency both musically and conceptually, understanding that, in Chile, today more than ever there exist winds of profound social change.

Joan’s Diary – Vargtimmen

Joan's Diary – Vargtimmen
[IYE37]

Joan’s Diary

“Vargtimmen”

Born in 2011, JOAN’S DIARY made their debut with the ep HYSTERIA for Toten Schwan Records, followed by the album AND OR NOT (Toten Schwan / ® esisto) and HELLO, BLOODY SISTER also on Toten Schwan (which will make use of graphic works by the master Sergio Padovani) and in 2015 TSUCHIGUMO (latest release for Toten Schwan Records).

They partecipate in several compilations and a 4 way split with Luciferi, OV Temple and Inghippo. The latest album was called SINDROME VAUCANSON and was released on Tu-Fa Records in Palermo. The group is made up of Davide Rossi, Luca Rossi and Eleonora Frascatore.

This is a tribute to the memory of DAVIDE ROSSI who in September of the year 2019 had decided to end his existence by giving us an appointment somewhere else.

The tracks that make up this album are drafts of what could have been something new for JOAN’S DIARY and which I found in a forgotten folder on my computer.

I completed them myself, trying to keep faith with Davide’s approach, as far as I could. They represent one of the many ways that I put in place not to forget him and to alleviate the pain still alive for his silent escape.
If he had had them in his hands they would certainly have been different, probably better, but I am not and will never be like him, so take them like this, as they came out.

It is an album that does not seek glory or complacency, but which only aims to keep his memory alive.

Many Thanks to Marco Valente of Toten Schwain Records, and Anime Nere.

“El Color que cayó del Cielo”

[pn151] 03.04.2020 “El Color que cayó del Cielo” by F600 feat. Mauricio Garrido [Chile]

REVIEW By Vicente Ruiz.

Collaborating is a contemporary exercise. Authorship in art through a common creation outcome dissolves the limits and merges personalities. “The Colour out of Space” has H.P. Lovecraft as the first collaboratorby creating the literary work in 1927. A story that describes the fall of a giant energy like a meteorite from outer space to planet Earth; the energy stains the place where it has fallen with a colour that is just the opposite, in fact it is the absence of colour and which is non-existence itself, capable of corroding the living forms of a palpable reality, although the confirmation of the birth of a proper field of subjectivity as well. Mauricio Garrido interprets the text and transfer it to collage (122 x 69 cm. Expo LEER 2018) where is possible to see a column of colour vibrations that upon reaching the earth enters nothing less than to the heart of the Pantheon building, iconic place precisely for its opening in the dome – The eye of God?- sweeping with a force of abduction simultaneous to the one that invades, so everything he finds begins to rise to infinity, bringing at the same time materials from space to establish them as a conjunction of materials and souls.

From the original text and the collage, Miguel Conejeros creates a musical composition that reflects the journey of a monstrous force that is falling from the sky in a sharply way. A voice recounts the events of the impact that is gradually transforming the landscape, giving birth to a gray wasteland which expands precisely in the space and life of the protagonists. This is described through Garrido’s voice, who is a central character in the story acting as a bridge between literature, sound and the visual workthat he himself gave birth to, coming to occupy the place of a mediator who glimpses within creation the possibility of magic.

The musical work manages to fully capture the terror that Lovecraft has put in the literary work. The different moments are shot in a kind of futuristic fictionthat takes the classic aspects of an audio work and at the same time brings them together to make way for a creation that reaches the human, not only for its ability to generate realities, but also by proposing a sound certainty which multiplies in different but harmonic directions, where the intimate structures of music are moved in community with the lyrics and the plastic creation.

Contemporaneity is manifested in the artistic collaboration of these three creators: Lovecraft, Conejeros and Garrido. The mysteries described through the audible are part of the world as is seen today: large devastated territories that move like a destructive plague where there is usually nothing or very little left to restart life or at least continue it. Spaces where the sinister rises with ominous aims. And the journey manifests as displacement of forms and senses.

However, pleasure prevails, one that arises from within the sounds and their relationships. One that drags Mauricio
Garrido’s visual work and passing through the sensitivity of Miguel Conejeros and gives way to an inevitable torrent of lights in the midst of shadows, the non-existent confirming the existent, what is destroyed as part of the shapeand emptiness as a symptom of the universe.

Seuil Optique – Les Habitants

Seuil Optique – Les Habitants
[Eg0_228]

Seuil Optique

“Les Habitants”

Seuil Optique, duo of Sig Valax and Nicolas Tourney, offers a unique experience of listening to music in the dark. Immersing the stage and the public in constant darkness, Seuil Optique creates soundscapes where electronic transmissions, acousmatic landscapes and refined drones intersect. By jostling the boundaries between listening, blind manipulation of machines and immersive experience offered to the audience, the two musicians explore new sound tracks, in permanent dialogue with hybrid musicalities and the practice of singular instruments: persephone, field recording, electro-acoustic devices, matrices and samples.
On stage, they use deliberately “open” improvisation strategies and defeat the boundaries between manipulating machines in the dark, harmonics tinged with noise-producing materials and the “eyes closed” hearing experience offered to the public.

Seuil Optique’s third album, Les Habitants, focuses on the practice of electronic improvisation. Recorded in three days and three nights, in Paris, in total darkness, Les Habitants aims to be a place of recognition of gesture as a creative act. No preparation beforehand, no benchmark, no intro or climax, only the interaction between two ways of producing spectral imprints. In this sound dialogue, electronics are the vector of total sincerity: the inhabitants target the listener, bringing them to live the experience of the moment that guides the “non-idiomatic” music of Seuil Optique, in which each sound, each transmitted waveform is dedicated to the inhabitants of the present.

Cyff Gwawd – Cyff Gwawd

Cyff Gwawd

“Cyff Gwawd”

Cyff Gwawd is Stuart Estell, a piano, and a couple of barely-functional tape machines. The project draws on his love of Satie, Cage, Feldman and Basinski while also being a logical step from his compositions for drone/doom tuba outfit ORE, which he left in 2014. Cyff Gwawd is named in tribute to Mark Hollis. It means “Laughing Stock” in Welsh.

The pieces on this release started as miniatures, some of the material freely composed, and some of it restricted to sets of just four pitch classes. In performance, however, they took on a life of their own and didn’t seem to want to be constrained to what had been written down — resulting in what might be better described as planned improvisations.

The same side of the same C90 — an old and far-from-clean TDK SA90, naturally — was used to record all four pieces. The older cassette machine’s completely unreliable motor and faulty tape head resulted in some happy accidents (speed changes, incomplete erasure) that would be impossible to reproduce. Apart from EQ, some additional reverb and the occasional overlaying of additional tracks (from the same source material), the only editing here has been structural. Other than that, what you hear is how it… more

“re”

t16c is a duo formed by underground Slovak musicians. Two friends, Peter Kudlička (16 colours, EGA) and Andrej Nechaj (Tatratank) have been making music for over 20 years. t16c is a natural result of their unceasing commitment to diverse sonics.

“re” is a debut collaborative album of t16c. Post-apocalyptic space exploration, transmitted over lo-fi radio signal back to the Earth. Grid-less, yet pulsating culmination of eerie field recordings, samples, and electronics. Alluring melancholic glimpses of an unclear future.
