about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Jimmy Watt – Capture Emplace Recovery

Jimmy Watt – Capture Emplace Recovery

Jimmy Watt

“Capture Emplace Recovery”

Stato Elettrico presents a brand new release by Jimmy Watt from Santiago, Chile. His work methodology focuses mainly on the capture, extraction, editing and storage of audio samples from different sources:

records on the street
dialogues extracts
audiovisual edits and converts of radio signals
uses a shortwave radio to capture foreign broadcasts
uses EVP
911 calls
Transforms, relentlessly, curtails, beheads and sews sound works from different backgrounds and authors, providing the glue that comes from analog-digital instruments and audio processors and resulting in a “sound narration” split into parts.

His sound works do not drop below 20 minutes for just such narrative, where there is a development from defined introduction to epilogue.

Detests the “digital finishing” of sound with a computer. For that reason dirty, gnawing and saturated sounds prevail (but without spoiling the record), thus achieving kind of a sound archeology.

His creative concepts pursues mysticism, the occult, time, religions, the process that leads to contemplation, the silence, the pause, the suspension, death and upstarts.

Abuse of rhythm and melody is a necessary evil for those who can not handle a drift.
It’s like being in a large room without light. You need to touch the walls and artifacts that fill the room to feel welcome in the position and perspective.

About mini-album: “Are two works from 2014 which were remixed to form a single track. In both works the main concept was the phenomenologies of the suspended, the aural and the paramelodics.” Jimmy Watt

David M. Paganin – Pointless Orbits

David M. Paganin – Pointless Orbits

David M. Paganin

“Pointless Orbits”

This debut full-length release of original experimental electro acoustic music is perhaps best described by the very broad range of musical influences from which it draws. These vary from from old-school industrial to musique concrète and contemporary classical, from kosmische musik to minimalism and dada, from power electronics to any form of genuinely experimental music. This ultimately uplifting album explores a range of themes pertaining to human freedom in a postmodern world. Such themes include alienation, psychological repression, the existential vacuum, obsession, rage, absurdity, mourning, regret and the concept of self.

Safe Place – Lifecutter

Safe Place – Lifecutter

Safe Place

“Lifecutter”

The music for Safe Place was initially written for accompanying a video project by Iztok Klančar. It evolved over time through cooperation with sharing different ideas, visions and video material. It was written and made to mimic the same lurking darkness that both artists, Lifecutter (Domen Učakar) and Iztok Klančar are familiar with through different relations to their own existence. It was written to intensify the murky atmosphere somewhere beneath and to give extra weight to images that convey the inner anxious conflict states. The images are clean, realistic, yet shot so that one would think that someone has staged the entire nature. It seems as if Klančar filmed imaginary moving paintings set to push the spectator into his inner hidden places.

Iztok Klančar’s words about Safe Place project:

»I retreat. I do that whenever external forces act on me. I create a mental space. There, I can play.

It is when you have a bad dream, a violent one. It is not the one when you are being chased into an abyss by all sorts of beasts. It is the one when you have to defend yourself, when you strike back and crush somebody’s scull. Or just shout back until there is no voice left in you, when your throat gets soar, when your tears are gone because you’re dry on the inside. Or just destroy things around you. And there is blood. Until you see only blood, only red.

At the moment, my core is so intense that I feel I might have a breakdown. I feel my nervous system is over capacity, burning, heating up. Again, I observe the world from within, from a hidden place, unaffected, not wanting to be affected. Darkness has always been lurking deep in my mind. This darkness inside me is merging with that of our current world.

I am at a threshold. The world seems to be ripping apart and shredding itself. And I simply try to be a neutral observer of it all.«

“Fields”

Here at Kahvi we’re exceptionally proud of our yearly compilation release – and here, finally, is the VA release for 2016! It’s been a mammoth undertaking, collecting tracks, compiling the release, mastering, creating the cover artwork but finally we can announce that “Fields’ is here!

This year, we have 40 of the best tracks from some familiar faces, along with many guest artists that submitted their tracks for inclusion. We’re especially proud to include a track from the legendary Richard Devine!

Some really amazing talent is out there with very little exposure, and the VA is our chance to redress the balance.

Fantastic cover artwork is created by our resident VA artist ‘Anto’ and mastering is by Mnemonic. Enjoy this years VA and Merry Christmas!

Glenn Sogge / Boson Spin – Thoughts Becoming (Other) Things

Glenn Sogge / Boson Spin

“Thoughts Becoming (Other) Things”

Even though they live on continents around the world from each other and have never even talked, Boson Spin (Stan Magendanz from Brisbane, Australia) and Glenn Sogge (Illinois, USA) have managed to forge a strong collaborative connection. With many dozens of tracks under their belts — ambient, experimental, dark ambient, and poetry-inspired challenges like the Naviar Records Haiku and Renku ones — they have developed a working relationship that fits like a glove even when it goes in unexpected directions.

“Thoughts Becoming (Other) Things” grew out of the beginning tracks from Boson Spin (a series titled “Thoughts Becoming Things’ that Sogge (without warning) then embellished. As the series continued, it became like a game of chess. Who was going to be surprised or challenged by the next file crossing the aether?

Juan Antonio Nieto – ISOLATED

Juan Antonio Nieto – ISOLATED
[PT044]

Juan Antonio Nieto

“ISOLATED”

Isolated is the logical continuation of Static, the previous record that Plus Timbre release in 2015.
Isolated base remains in the idea of combining percussive sounds with dark drones. If for Static sounds were recorded in public spaces, in this new record all the sounds have been recorded in my own home, pens, knives, brushes, and any subceptible objet, beaten or rubbed over different surfaces, glass, wood, metal, sand in order to get a unique sound (avoiding the can add effects) this sounds combined with each other, were able to form a special feeling. Drones were created to finish adjusting topics. The result is an album that can be heard both environmental manner or in a deeper listening. The multiple sounds have been treated one by one, in EQ and volumes.

почему коммутатор молчит

“топорная работа”

About:
«Третий альбом писался довольно долго. От него отсекались куски, которые в итоге перекочевали в анонсирующие ЕР “это нужно видеть” и “машина”. Титульные песни будут на “топорной работе”, остальные держались в секрете до последнего.
Как всегда, незримо участвовал Рома Белоусов, основатель проекта, которому в день выхода альбома, 26-го ноября, исполнилось бы ровно 40 лет. Следующий альбом будет содержать песни Р. Белоусова и совместные с А.Марабяном.»

Credits:

Lingua Lustra

“Slow Time”

“Slow Time” grew out of some slow arpeggiating tracks, of which one remained, I looked at some unreleased tracks, tracks that I couldn’t place yet and all came together in a picture as one. Experimenting with classical influences, as I do more often, mixing it with psychedelic and drone elements. The result I think exists in its own bubble, I hope it gives the listener a different sense of time. -Lingua Lustra

Cousin Silas – Transformations

Cousin Silas – Transformations
[CAAM0008]

Cousin Silas

“Transformations”

Cousin Silas returns with his fourth release on CerebralAudio: Transformations. This release centers on shifting minimalist patterns that constantly evolve and transform from beginning to end. These pieces were composed using ebow for the loops and pads and guitar for the patterns that subtly shift and change over time, creating a hypnotic soundscape for the mind.

This release is as abstract as several other releases on CerebralAudio, including The Sky Road. It’s a calm and serene set of pieces that have an implied rhythm, while using an actual percussive instruments, or specific elements within them. Whether it’s music you need for meditation, or to help you focus on a task, this is the work for you. Indulge yourself in eighty minutes of the constantly evolving and transforming soundscapes of Cousin Silas.

NOTE: For the first time we are offering 24bit, 48Khz FLAC encoding of this release!

Daniel Robert Lahey – Iterations

Daniel Robert Lahey – Iterations
[CACL0002]

Daniel Robert Lahey

“Iterations”

Daniel Robert Lahey makes his third appearance on CerebralAudio with Iterations. The idea behind much of this work is based on the repetition of phrases while subtly changing them over time. It’s the basis of what became known as minimalism in the hands of composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

But, with the iterative nature of these works is apparent, Daniel couldn’t leave could just write a set of derivative works that mimicked contemporary composers. Instead he reaches back into the world of serialism for a couple of these compositions. The density and complexity of these works belies their roots in the concept of minimalism.

It’s the sharp contrast between modern composition styles that makes this work interesting. Daniel has found a way to move between what many would consider to be ambient music and the most challenging classical music without finding any lines. He is an explorer of all ages of music.

Vinze is dead – Corse1993′

Vinze is dead – Corse1993′
[376]

Vinze is dead

“Corse1993′”

A curiously named guest artist again for October. Vinze is dead could be the sign of depression or sentimentality, and the 12 track album ‘Corse1993’ twists and turns in all directions, giving you a nostalgic vibe similar to Boards of Canada, with subtle sounds your ears yearn to hear, to detailed drum tracks – nothing too heavy, just delicate percussion to complement the otherwise sublime tracks.

Perfect for that autumn afternoon in the last of the warm sunny days, or enjoying the crisp approaching winter (as we do here in Finland). All tracks have some great feelings and warmth, but a couple stand out for this fan: Veshangree (very BOC influenced) and Theme from pursuit of happiness which reminds me of ‘Nannou’ by Aphex Twin.
