about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

chicago modern orchestra project

“nappy hair’s best friend”

renée baker’s chicago modern orchestra project is revamping the traditional concert going experience by programming an eclectic genre mix, crossing grooves and roads where least expected. they look to build bridges between audience members of different backgrounds. part of their organizational mission is to adjust and transcend global viewpoints through ethnic human experimentation. to this end they seek out unusual and completely innovative scores from every genre of music – focusing on living composers.

nappy hair’s best friend, their first album for pan y rosas, is a document of a performance in lakeside, michigan in september of 2012. the album captures the performances of two pieces of conduction/comprovisations by aacm member renée baker.

V.A.

“Please Welcome”

please welcome Sonambient and Noizyknobs! These two artists are the brand new signings of Starquake Records team and, in order to introduce them, we decided to release a 2-singles-compilation. The Noizyknobs come from a side project of Brandumize, and disclose their pounding “Kaskad Groma”; Sonambient, who comes from his astonishing debut album on Megaphone Records, shows off his dancefloor skills with “Reiterate”. Two very different projects, but both quite danceable and with a tasty old-school flavor. Welcome both of them!

Karma Dub – Samadhi

DPH007

Karma Dub

“Samadhi”

It all started with a midi keyboard he received as birthday present back in 2012. The young producer from southern Germany was always influenced by the vibes of Roots Reggae, Dub and as well Jungle and Drum and Bass music. It was merely a matter of time until he started producing his own sounds. Nothing is stronger than an idea, whose time has come. And the time for Karma Dub’s first release has arrived.

Karma is an ancient concept, a Sanskrit word meaning ‘act’, ‘action’, or ‘word’. The law of karma teaches us that all of our thoughts, words and actions begin a chain of cause and effect, and that we will personally experience the effects of everything we cause. It is clear that Karma Dub is deeply influenced by the eastern cultures and their music. Nevertheless he successfully manages to incorporate in his work heavy basslines and irie melodies, elements rooted in the Jamaican music.
Karma Dub’s first album is a higher level of concentrated musical meditation. Each tune leads to the next state of mind. It is therefore important to listen to the tunes in the correct order. Just press PLAY and close your eyes.

Imagine yourself being a wandering monk, who has chosen to live a life apart from or on the edges of society. You travel from orient to occident, gathering knowledge as you meet different cultures, practicing your musical spirituality. Being conscious about your environment, you let your environment assimilate with your I and I. The stillness of your mind enables you to observe and gain insight into the changing flow of your experiences. As you arrive to the western world, the music changes, the bass gets heavier picking up the frequencies of your heartbeat. Keeping your eyes shut, your mind is still consciously receiving every vibration of your surroundings. What is happening to you is actually very easy to explain. You are experiencing Karma Dub’s vibes on your everyday life. It’s your Karma to be hypnotised!

MANJA – Shine pon mi

dubbhism 017

MANJA

“Shine pon mi”

CODE RED… CODE RED… MANJA is shining sweet like a morning sunrise. A wonderful tune, originally released by Rebel Liberation Records as part of the Nairoberry riddim album, the Dubbhim remix extends the tonal palette with lap steel guitar (Marcus Hillman) and sax (Ital Hans). Tony Dubshot added the dub for good measure.

Soul is the main ingredient of all vocal tracks released by Dubbhism, and Shine pon mi is no different. Even the lyrics are too big to fail. We love MANJA and we’re quite sure that you will love her too.

Tom Woxom – Gleichtakt,

D!HR-21

Tom Woxom

“Gleichtakt”

With Gleichtakt, Tom Woxom guides you to the shimmering arpeggios and creaking squarebass order of two good old nintendo gameboys. The synchronized machines are building up a space of digital rhythm and 8-bit sound. Mr. Woxom’s clubsound continiously switches between low and hi-fidelity atmospheres using the simple waveforms from the DMG-01 classic clean and sharp pixelsoundfx to raw and screaming dancefloor bass.

Sweet audio filtering and endless delays take you on a technotic trip back to your handheld years and fast forward on a journey to the green grid of a monochrome screen world.

Listen now to Tom Woxom’s third album, straight out of Germany’s capital of lowbit music : Wuppertal.

reid karris is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound experimentalist and improviser hailing from chicago, illinois trying very hard to get all the music stuck in his head out for all the world to hear. after spending years as an odd guitarist trying to fit in with the world of rock music reid shifted his focus towards improvisation and noise. his primary instruments for doing so are prepared guitar and drum kit sent through electronics. he performs with various groups with guitar including set self on fire, hkm guitar trio and the chicago scratch orchestra. he also plays drums in the experimental duo step slow.

his first album for pan y rosas, creatio ex nihilo, is a series of percussion improvisations that reid created using his drum kit, little instruments and a guitar. he manipulated the drums with electronics in the moment as he improvised. the sound is: sub thunder radio explosion. psyché-bell tone. pitter patter. reverse. emergent rhythm. sonar search guitar fragment in the white room.

NKS prod 122

PSYKOXXX

“Dee mon”

10 trax album – ogg 350 zip + mp3 320 + full stream
out 2013/09/29

“Psykoxxx is Batard Tronique’s hard & dark drum’n’bass project.
His 3rd album on NKS shows us how his music is getting better and better. We can hear some old dnb vibes mixed with new style : heavier, darker, with more breaks inside. Enough variations in each track & from 1 track to another, not to be bored with repetition, as some can be with dnb. 3 trax made with his friend Z, 1 remixed by Porion, clean production as usual.
High level dnb free album for sure. Enjoy & share Deemon’s good vibes.”

Yimino – The Tide Reveals Your Bones

Yimino

“The Tide Reveals Your Bones”

If you’re a follower of the Kahvi facebook page, you’ll know that we love this particular artist and the works of art they create. So I’m extremely happy to present the latest EP from the one and only Yimino!

If you’re a fan of Boards of Canada (if you aren’t why not?) then you’ll recognise some of the qualities from two of the tracks (Joseph and the title track). Sentimental atonal keys in the traditional Boards of Canada style, sweeping analogue warmth and melancholic feelings.

Check out Yiminos latest album Throwing Shade for more fantastic tracks on Bandcamp.

Track of choice has to be Baby BC3’s Ascent with its progression, curious choice of samples used for the percussion and subtle pads and epic bass.

Mike Cooper and Yan-Chiu Leung – Right (H)ear Side by Side

LOR043

Mike Cooper and Yan-Chiu Leung

“Right (H)ear Side by Side”

Linear Obsessional is delighted to release this exciting collaboration between the great British maverick slide guitarist Mike Cooper and the Chinese Sheng virtuoso Yan-Chiu Leung.

“We had never met each other before this concert. We had exchanged a few mp3s to give each other an idea of what musical oceans we both float in and then attempted to navigate our way together by free improvisation toward some distant shore. I think we arrived at a beautiful island together finally. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Many special thanx to Yang Yeung, Alice Wong, Yuk Mui Law, Edwin Lo and to everyone who came on the Lamma Island soundwalk”
-Mike Cooper July 2013

Recorded January 26th at Youth Square Dance Studio by Anthony Yeung as part of the Around Sound Art Festival 2013 organized by Soundpocket.

Mike Cooper played an F1 Resophonic Tri-Plate guitar / Zoom Track Sampler / Kaos Pad / Boss Pitch Shifter-Delay pedal / Top Gear Fuzz Box and Harmonica.

Yan-Chiu Leung played a variety of Sheng ( a free reed Chinese wind instrument)
