about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Dominik Vogel

“(how to avoid) common mistakes in your divine creation”

Feet fidgeting in Sunday restlessness,
reality blurred in hypermathological impressions,
let’s hack autonomous vehicles!

From chillax to 100+% now. It’s relatively rare to find techno
or acid on Phonocake, but Dominik Vogel’s work also brings
melodic electronica and an experimental approach, especially
through the production technique with the modular synthesizers
and unusual control devices, basically tearing down the
style boundaries here.

Dominik Vogel has a history as a drummer, songwriter,
percussionist and synth player in bands and ensembles
and has been into electronic music with a focus on techno
since 2000. As an “old school musician” he believes in analog
instruments and hardware, with which he also plays live techno
sessions. You can find his analogue passion withdemos and
tutorials on modular musical instruments on YouTube. He
also uses these instruments, mostly with the help of
unusual control devices or random voltages and modulations,
for the creation of his tracks. In the course of time, he
has released a number of albums and other releases all over
the world, including Der kleine grüne Würfel, RotRaum Music,
AcidWorx, Overdrive and FullHouseMusic.

Shortcuts – Maldonado

Shortcuts – Maldonado
[djummi.028]

Shortcuts

“Maldonado”

There are 13 songs on an album! And it only takes one take to record. Well, let’s say two! But then it’s done. On a left-handed guitar, the high strings are at the top, did you know? By the way, Depeche Mode would be even better if they counted like the Pixies. Playing on mobile? No, you don’t do that. Real men (and certainly real women too) always have a games console with them everywhere. By the way, you can also use it to build great beats!

Andreas and Jule recorded the record “Maldonado” in a relaxed manner one evening in the rehearsal room with half a handful of microphones. Always one song at a time. Of course, a maximum of one or two takes and beyond (see above). Beats and electro sounds come exclusively from the Nintendo Korg DS-10, the legendary plug-in card synthesizer for the legendary Nintendo DS. Just Gameboyboogiewoogie!

Sebastian then dragged the songs through his very own cocoa again and swung the egg shaker. Just Alternative Ohrwurms!

A record about football, interpersonal relationships (love), deep sea adventures and party visions. Well-chosen words in German, English and gibberish. Music with waving guitars à la The Smiths and pop appeal in Belle & Sebastian style. Then again punk as we know it and techno as we don’t know it.

Yes, Mr. Schulze clearly has principles. Fortunately, kin of unconventional ones. That’s a good thing, of course. For example for his music. It is always straight forward, without repetitions, short and to the point. When everything is said (and played), everything is said (and played). One album, 13 tracks and xx minutes of playing time. Just Shortcuts!

And the boy on the cover? Yes, that’s Rolf. He looks at his star. “Ein Stern namens Rolf” is the name of the little children’s story that Andreas wrote and which is available in a stylish edition, wonderfully illustrated by Susana Luis, together with the CD for the album.

Geert & Hvorfor

“13 Gyldne Hits”

In a smoky Danish jukejoint I discovered the band Geert & Hvorfor (Geert and why) Geert sings and Hvorfor is his automatic keyboard presets it seems? Clearly the band aimed for 70’s/80’s style Dansktop or Schlager music, but their zany lyrics and weird phrasing reminds one more of Wesley Willis and Eilert Pilarm than James Last. Lyrics are in Danish, and for the non speakers, know they are sometimes explicit

The newest one by Ljdb was created in the dark hours of January 2023. Every track is either directly inspired by a person known to Ljdb or a quote by them / an inside joke. Other influences include industrial hemp, electric shavers and the cashiers at the supermarket chain Netto. But i digress…

Inspired by horror and fantasy computergames of the 80’s and 90’s comes the newest in a long stream of albums by LjdB. Mostly with sounds reminiscent of the MS-DOS games (depending on what soundcard you had in those days) but also inspired by movie soundtracks (the attentive reader may notice the titling on the album is a small tribute to slasher movies aswell ; Black Christmas,Abducted, and Galaxy invader as well as the very obvious one) Merry Xmas Everybody

Luke Lund – Bride Stones / False Vacuum

Luke Lund – Bride Stones / False Vacuum
[TERR116]

Luke Lund

“Bride Stones / False Vacuum”

TERR116: “Bride Stones / False Vacuum” culls two new electro-acoustic works by Luke Lund.

The idea of sonifying events occurring over geological and cosmic timescales unites the longform soundscapes of this double header. From the sense of tectonic mountain-birthing forces and gentle millennia-long microscopic erosion of rock formations in “Bride Stones,” to “False Vacuum’s” mental imagery attempting to fathom a theoretical collapse of the universe and death of time itself, they serve as entry to an extraordinarily vivid yet alien soundsphere.

“Briganti,” the first section of “Bride Stones” is a slowly evolving, poetic journey performed in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. Created live, although largely airy and ethereal, its delicate synthesizer movement is combined with a dynamic and unpredictable generative technique that completely disintegrates environmental recordings made around the craggy peak of Snowdon and rocky beaches of Llandudno. Together they create a narrative of deep naturalistic planes that penetrate each other and metamorphose into thick swells of tonal, near melodic vapor; the hush of air and rain sculpting rock over eons; vistas of isolation on desolate tectonic plates of stone grinding and crashing into sonorous metal… The later-recorded second and third sections employ the same approach but in studio.

Next to the triptych piece sits the volatile two-part “False Vacuum.” Created from synth parts based off a performance at New River Studios, it is fused with abstracted urban London field recordings, dissociated spectrally to maximum extent. The dread-raising pendulum-like drone pushing and pulling sets up a menacing pulse within which fluid interweavings and manifold clusters of textural apparitions burst and dissipate. A sensory overwhelming, dense mesh of haunting crescendos of discordant howls and a vicious microscosm of screeches darting through the stereo field and the human audio range.

Two dramatic narratives — both highly dynamic and abound with precise details of psychological subtlety. Both engrossed in wayward energies and wilderness of pure sound.

“Trivia”

Minimalism | Pattern Music | Automatic Composition | Modern Composition

The 1st Album of Udiv project introduces a new automatic composition algorithm. Throughout the lengthy track we can hear a gradual transition from single-note patterns to standard ones, consisting of six notes within the given pentatonic row. In addition to the usual instrumentation for Djezmusic projects (such as chromatic percussion, piano, bass, bassoon, guitar), the cello and viola are used for the first time.

Luke Lund – Vaporous Passage

Luke Lund – Vaporous Passage
[TERR115]

Luke Lund

“Vaporous Passage”

TERR115: “Vaporous Passage” is a ruminative distillation of Luke Lund’s hypnagogic drone guitar and obsession with fx, dedicated to exploring textural properties and limitations of the EBow.

Inspired by revisiting recordings from 2011, this hourlong improvised guitar journey harkens back to his EBow worshipping “Infinite Sustain” albums from former ambient project Light Overhead, but importantly bears no efforts to purely retrace those recordings a decade later.

Split into two contrary forces, the album opens with bittersweet, swirling vignettes saturated with ferric fuzz — the dreamlike, chiming breeze of “Deliverance From Doubt” arcs to elegant organ-like tones before dissipating away into the glistening, soporific kaleidoscope of “Far Peripheral” — A reprise bridges the warm soundscapes into a despaired flipside of unholy drone — The depleted discord of “First Encounter” paints a monochrome, void-staring picture — The churning phantom rhythm of quasi-industrial “The Ache Beneath” crushes across spiraling walls of doom — The searching album finale floods over with a heart-stricken motif as a closing gesture…

“Vaporous Passage” is a vehement step forwards, revitalising his relationship with weightless guitar by a more mature approach.
