about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

morgen wurde und tis – zeitigt

morgen wurde und tis – zeitigt
[134]

morgen wurde und tis

“zeitigt”

Solal – Litanies

Solal

“Litanies”

Glitch, digital accidents or acoustic samples, the musical atmospheres that Solal creates with Joseph underline by their theatricality the dark and inexorable destiny of the heroes. Adolescent incantations, ecological stories, the interpretations of the young artist pay homage to the great epics of literature such as Dune, the ancient tragedies, or to the tradition of oral tales.

Konejo – Snapping Back In

Konejo – Snapping Back In
[LCNLP115]

Konejo

“Snapping Back In”

The Necrophile Hummingbird presents : a dream.
This album is such a joy because there has been no sampling album release on the netlabel since Size to Seizure 3 years ago. Mostly because the analogic side is growing out of control… and perhaps because turntablism is more fitting to that. Beyond the necessary struggle to an equal access to sample for everyone doing free music releases and not only the artists signed with major record companies, coming first is the right to use anything released in the public sphere as a right to answer with plunderphonics. The sampling art is more related to cut-up techniques and philosophy. It’s a way to re-interprete one’s reality. The same way that dreams are remixes of our waking lives. Perhaps this Snapping Back In is more a kind of art therapy to exorcise a nightmare. Whatever…

Here is Konejo presentation :

Recorded at home between June 11th and August 17th, 2020. About 150 sample sources were used in the making on this album (most of them from beloved movies from the 60s/70s), plus some cheap online apps and a Maschine MK2 for live beats and basslines. I hope you’ll find your own meaning in this deeply personal and haunted copied/pasted storytelling so it’ll have been worth the stealing.

Same as every previous release, this was already kind of a tribute to Ennio Morricone before the Maestro passed away. “Snapping Back In” is dedicated to him, like most music from the 21th century should be. RIP.

Artwork by B-Maltais & Konejo (first EP together coming soon).

Kindly and brilliantly mastered by Anatoly ‘Tokee’ Grinberg

Thanks to La Loupe Satanique for unknowingly helping me get my hand on most of the sampled sources.

Castro & Margherit – Efimero Perpetuo

Castro & Margherit – Efimero Perpetuo

Castro & Margherit

“Efimero Perpetuo”

When preparing a record, collaboration often presents unexpected signals for people who decide to do something together. These can be extremely varied signals, ranging from a sign of our society’s predominantly authoritarian leaning, to the expression of alternative ways for meeting and getting in touch reassured by practice.

This album by Jorge Castro and Nico Margherit discovers two people coming together because of their friendship – a personal, affective bond, which mutates throughout this work, realizing their mutual admiration in the process.

Intuition prevails in this album soundwork, following affinity and taste, but far from a free improv album. While this is present at the beginning – and the material they recorded is huge, enough for a ten-record-box set – the result is not a faithful delivery of it, but the starting point for a true immersion on it, generating new recordings to rescue some ideas that gradually appear as islands in this sea of early intuition.

What are those islands made of? Jorge Castro’s subtle rhythm work on the elements arising from Nico Margherit’s tonal and compositional ideas. Between tracks, like under the islands, there is still drifting, because there is time, listening and sensitive experiences about the world it embraces.

The album was recorded before the pandemic, during successive meetings at La Cúpula studio, in the heart of Mercado Norte in Córdoba, Argentina. But editing and mixing were carried out during months of strictest quarantine that area went through. That may be the reason why Track No. 6, the one closing the album, is the most noisy of all, remarkably evoking the mind-blowing silence experienced then, now stepping aside and welcoming the rumor and buzz those who’ve been through a lot of silence long for.

“Colla (Double Album)”

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night, looking outside the window and noticing that something has actually changed. The world is still there, it sleeps but it is present, mocking you constantly and slowly showing itself .

Anyway now something seems to cover reality with a thin layer of bright glue, an ambiguous material that hides the features of things and that unfolds the world under a different, bright light.

You walk, this concrete is soft, the walls of the houses are covered with morbid, viscous, beautiful materia.

This world speaks to you, it tells you a different story. You could stay here forever and forget an imposed, harsh past. In this new vision, however, the past coexists, it lives and it embraces you, forever wrapped in a flaming rodeo loop. A giant puppet show put up by family and friends.

“Colla” is a metaphor, a hope for a different dimension, where thought generates tangible content without too much effort.

The streets of Sant’Angelo are now populated by… more

Nicolas Tourney

“Gloucester”

Nicolas Tourney is a french experimental musician and sound designer, also owner of the label Snow in Water Records. His new album Gloucester consists in 23 experimental compostions based on a precise methodology, gear and sound material.

As the artist says himself “For Gloucester, the device used brings together a 1/8 violin, a viola, a pure data processor and a ring modulator.
It is a work of sound evocations around Charles Olson’s Maximus Poems. I use a projectivist method, freely inspired by the theoretical work of the American poet. In the field of possibilities thus opened, this research allows spatialization in a neutral listening space.
This work was developed during a stay at the Performing Arts Forum, a kind of European Black Mountain College.”

Janne Nummela

“Preserve Energy Because the Struggle is Long”

IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH GRASPING THE DIVISION OF LABOUR BETWEEN MAN AND MACHINE

“There are obviously various musical directions and techniques going on in this album. A variety of sound sources and instruments are introduced. Abandoning specialization and sliding towards universality produces thriving musical diversity but also easily ends up to the dilettantism, which I have not been that much afraid of.

How many instruments I really played on this album? The answer is unambiguous. I am a guitarist, so I play guitar (on tracks 1, 2 and 10). Track 8 is played on the guitar, but the sound source is a virtual instrument violin (Embertone’s Joshua Bell violin by guitar to MIDI, no Max/MSP involved). Playing gestures of violin (sampled) and guitar (played by me) are entirely different in nature. So what is the point of playing violin by the guitar? Just to have fun.

This is an album about wanting to travel more and see new things. I’m shy as hell and bad at talking to people and I’ve been unhappy for ages because of it. I need to just say yes to things it’s so easy to say no to. This album is for that ✨

M=W – Años Luz

M=W – Años Luz
[M040]

M=W

“Años Luz”

Review:

The earth is located nearly 8 light-minutes from the sun; that is what who are supposed to know say. How can this be swallowed?
Of course our condition of ordinary human beings aims to define and calculate it all to give sense to our brief passage in this dimensional plane. And yes, we are lost for words most of the time.
The new formula M=W is a way of teaching that spoils and grabs.
>From the numerical perspective M=W solves its own encapsulated time, in theorems related to exoplanets located within vertigo distances, and as the time passes, they move in a means recognized as «the void», a place where its magnetic permeability is hold onto, among other characteristics connected with the most intimate astronomical phenomena.
Its most frequent paradigms correspond to the subtle modifications of this void; M=W presents this theorem as curve spaces with thermal populations in the presence of external fields; that is to say, and so that doña Juanita gets to understand: the speed of light depends on the density of the energy in that precise void.
M=W does not hurry up; it has calculated every metric tensor with its perfectly calibrated sextant, as it knows that the journey is eternal and internal, and that these three sonorous pieces begin to fall in a unique continuum, as they were three concepts inextricably connected to one another.
It is very interesting to confirm through this release that the cosmonaut Jáuregui Arévalo manages to confirm the existence of a gravitational dilation of the alleged sensed space-time reality; speaking in human: something like the sweet trill of a particle inside a rotating system of reference, which is not plane, and in which there is no tension that may core it.
This could be interpreted as if the time has been slowed down for the clock of your microwave; but that is only truth in the context of the observer’s reference system. Locally, and as it is well known, this time is always running as the same rhythm.
The time dilation phenomenon is applied to any process that reveals changes through time space; and precisely by reaching that point is when it gets crystal clear that this alleged reality gets frozen in a generous net, perfectly designed for the total escape; something like the starting point for the big take off.
That said, M=W wave at us, and the consequences of the alteration that occurred in this plane is on Modismo.
And, of course, we are the lucky ones who gaze at the stars with the sound volume as the lightspeed.
