about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Art & Technique – 071617182018

Art & Technique – 071617182018
[D!HR-39]

Art & Technique

“071617182018”

For its 39th release, Da ! Heard It Records gives birth to a new alchemy.

As an emblematic figure of the French alternative scene of the 70s and 80s, Bernard Filipetti has been heating up his analog synthesizers’ circuits within the band Camizole along with Dominique Grimaud, and with his solo project Art & Technique. Raw, industrial, and without concession, Bernard’s recordings of that time resonate among those of a new generation of mavericks, whom he discovers with enthusiasm at the heart of the Parisian musical network of Rue des Gardes. He then surrounds himself with Mathieu Habig, the energetic drummer of Guili Guili Goulag and Spoliature, to fire up his machines during the Merguez Electroniques festival in June 2017. This memorable concert is the origin of the present cassette, born from the spontaneous invitation of the Da ! Heard It label and the arrival of Ravi Shardja, (GOL Couloir Gang) into this new formula.
For three days, after strategically placing mics and ventilators in an overheated cave in Porte de la Villette, the formation of varying geometry cans nearly 12 hours of material in July 2018. From these largely improvised sessions arise unpublished sonorous structures, marked by the canicular atmosphere of the place.
A true celebration of the alloy of complementary personalities, the saturated cloths gradually ignite the speakers to reveal the sustained play of Mathieu Habig. Synthetic volutes briefly appear and melt into these long compact shores, as if shaped directly in the material. In two of the four tracks on the album, Ravi Shardja’s bass brings in a krautock flow to add to these stretched out compositions, extended and forged compulsively in the heat of this underground studio. Reminiscent of the various sonorous strata machined at the forefront of this percussive assembly, the sleeve that accompanies this production was conceived with precision by Pia Mélissa Laroche. Inside, the magnetic tapes that capture the vivid energy of these sessions give a fair idea of their concerts and invite to a collective frenzy.
Thirty years after its debut, Art & Technique reinvents itself with tribal rhythms, obstinate bass lines wrapped in a dense, psychedelic, and perpetually boiling electronic.

071617182018, the 39th release of Da ! Heard It Records is distributed under a Creative Commons BY_NC_ND license. The album is fully listenable and downloadable at the following address : https://www.daheardit-records.net/en/discography/dhr-39

Doedelzak – P8 phase 3
[Eg0_197]

Doedelzak

“P8 phase 3”

“P8 phase 3” presents another side of the work of our regular contributor Doedelzak. This time he used an hybrid methodology of improvisation, generative music and post-production manipulations. The 3 phases indicated in the title refer to the three main stages of the creative process used here :
phase 1 : improvisation on MIDI piano
phase 2 : extension on multiple virtual instruments, using aleatory distributions
phase 3 : superpositions, accelerations/decelerations, volumes
The result is multi-layered composition which is in the same time easy to the ear (thanks to its smooth sounds and melodic components) and very complex and ever changing. It could be enjoyed as background music but is also fascinating for a more focused listening which will let you discover many details and subtleties of the piece.

Limbah Berbunyi Project & Potrobayan Jam

“live at Ritual Dekahan Bumi”

This release is a live recording of the collaboration of Limbah Berbunyi Project with Potrobayan Jam at the peak of the series of Ritual Dekahan Bumi in Potrobayan Village. Ritual Dekahan Bumi is a representation of the gratitude of the Potrobayan community along with several Eling Project teams in completing a series of workshops, one of which is making sound sources or musical instruments from existing resources. The resources used in this workshop came from waste and used goods around residents’ houses such as glass bottles, remnants of house floors, barrels, or used pipes. In this workshop, the Potrobayan community was facilitated by Limbah Berbunyi Project with a taste-based improvisation method. In this workshop also was born an art group from the Potrobayan community named Potrobayan Jam.

Whether meditating on a roll of amplified packing tape or instructing an audience to fill Crank’s pants with water, the result has been a double-decade odyssey of noisy mishaps, inflatable parades, and accidental theater; feats destined for the shelves of ever-grinning and mesmerizing obscurity.

Chris Silver T + Mauro Sambo – …che il sapore dell’aria possa appoggiarsi alle labbra
[pn138]

Chris Silver T + Mauro Sambo

“…che il sapore dell’aria possa appoggiarsi alle labbra”

“In un arco temporale molto breve” (a Chris & Mauro).

Quando Il corpo si separa dalla mente e nuovi spazi si formano

Tu respira…

lascia passare l’aria e inoltrarsi l’ombra…

…aria

Tu respira…

“del_din04”

After a web collaboration (album Imperceptible,) Onde Poussière return to free improvisation with their 4th album del_din04, made of sessions recorded on 25th and 26th september 2018. For this occasion, they once more experimented with new set-ups, this time with a focus on lo-fi sound. Doedelzak played laptop amplified with cheap computer speakers and occasionnaly flute, while Kecap Tuyul used his z(xW+yW), a low-tech modular system based on tiny battery-powered guitar amplifiers and contact microphones. Through this new change they continue to explore sonic material and techniques that are likely to cause various accidents and usually unwanted sounds, which are an essential part of the ground on which the band build its improvised soundscapes.

InO – Magali Albespy – 2017/2018

InO – Magali Albespy – 2017/2018
[Eg0_191]

InO – Magali Albespy

“2017/2018”

InO is the acronym for “Interpenetration and non-Obstruction”, one of the principles that John Cage used to create music that was anarchic (against the structures of most of musical traditions) and in the same time encouraging new possibilities of coexistence. Magali Albespy, a french artist rooted in dance and performance, took inspiration from this for a methodology of real time composition dance practice focused on sound. “2017/2018” is made of excerpts of the sessions recorded during the first year of these weekly events.

These recordings can be considered as documents of this practice. Indeed they are such documents, especially for people who were involved in the sessions. But we think that they also have a fragile and surprising beauty of their own that deserve an independent life for your listening. This unexpected musicality has been discreetly stressed by the editing choices, which we can consider like a delicate work of “a posteriori composition”, a work made with respect for the uniqueness of each sound event and their kind of abstract narrative power. That’s why we hope that you will enjoy these atypical works.

Magali Albespy is a dancer and performer. She likes to question the borders between formats and artistic disciplines. She explores real-time composition with body, video and sound. As a musician, she also plays in M.A.K.T. Sono and Mesce Basse.

“Realtime Experiments (2018)”

There are occasions when we are jamming together without presetting any genre or style. In real time we choose the wave synthesizer, samples or connected microphones. On the fly we modify the source sound adding equalization, effects chains and compression keeping in mind the arrangement of a noisy musical flow and interacting with each other. We record the master mix and then cut the best parts out of many hours of raw jams, sort them and cut out odd sounds, re-compose track, equalize, normalize and finally publish an album. Proud to share with you selected experimental electronics of 2k15-18 period by 303 / “Trio Three”.

NODOLBY

“live in Augsburg”

live @ villa, Augsburg, 29.06.18
recording, mastering, photography and design by EMERGENodolby is the stage name of Michele Scariot (b. 1974), sound enthusiast and noise performer from Italy.
Before Nodolby Scariot was known as the founding member of experimental electronic duo ENT (1999-2008).
Since 2007 Nodolby has made several releases on international labels from USA, Japan, Australia, Europe and Italy.
Nodolby’s live-sets constantly shift between the rhapsodic and the minimal, organized and destabilized sound flow. The sound sources are old, broken and bented devices – the aim of the process being the search for musicality in the most abstract sounds and explore limits and opportunities of control and interplay between the performer and such equipment. Over these years Scariot had the chance to play gigs across Europe and Japan, as well as the opportunity to play live improvisation with Fukte (I), NRYY (JP), Claus Poulsen (DK) and Yoshihide Otomo (JP).
In 2018 nodolby release his first sound design piece for the animation “Aperture” of visual artist Emanuele kabu.
In 2007 he founded the independent label DOKURO, releasing cassettes, CD-Rs, CDs and vinyls of experimental music by Howard Stelzer, K2, Mike Shiflet, Antony Milton, Magneticring, To Live and Shave in L.A., J. Soliday, Pax Titania, Fumio Kosakai, AMK, and many more.
