about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Gaetano Fontanazza

“Music For Toys Meditation”

Gaetano Fontanazza, a.k.a. Pseudo, guitarist and musician extraordinaire, offers his first release on Sucu Music, the beautifully entitled “Music for Toys Meditation”. As usual, he explores all of the most extreme and fantastic territories his guitar and his array of effects, musical skill and inventive, can take him (and us) to.
It is a short-length release, clocking off at 25 minutes, where ambient, glitch, noise and soundscapes create a unique aural and emotional experience in the listener. Not to forget some acoustic moments which, unexpected as they may sound, given the profoundly electronic feel of the work, do not appear strange or gratuitous at all.

Mood481

“Nothing to Fear”

Nothing to Fear is the 8th Mood481 album, composed and produced entirely on a pair of iPads.

Nothing to Fear brought a marked departure from the space-themed ambient compositions of previous Mood481 albums, moving into the realm of abstract, dark ambient exploration that has become the cornerstone of Mood481’s sound. Like many previous works, the majority of the tracks on Nothing to Fear find their genesis in algorithmic and physics-based generative composition techniques.

Former Descent

“The State Of In-Between”

Former Descent is the new Electronica project of Bas Welling, best known for previous works under the names Neurobit, R10T33R and Rioteer. Bas Welling created loads of chaos the past few years with his label Crackbeats wich has a focus on the extreme side of Breakcore, Noise and Digital hardcore. Some might know him as Neurobit who released quit some 8 bit mayhem on labels like Enfant Terrible and Retinascan. But he is also known as a producer and remixer for artists like Ra-X, The C64 Orchestra, Deathmaker, Meldy Peaches and Maurizio Bianchi. With Former Descent his music goes in a new direction, with strong influences by his aliases.

After releasing the debut 12inch “My life in the box of ghosts” on Shipwrec Records and recording a track for the soundtrack of the movie “Exploitation” by director Edwin Brienen, Former Descent is back with his first digital EP. “The State Of In-Between” contains 5 personal ambient tracks all recorded with a Yamaha Tenori-On between the 24th and the 28th of January 2013.

Wirewound vs. Datacrashrobot

“Xylogic Splitter”

Machines Collide
Coming from the recesses of an obscure computerized coding mechanism, the impossible has happened!
Forget about Cyberdyne Systems taking over the world, the machine onslaught is happening now, in the shape of proto beats emanating from Bucharest’s own Sorin Paun.
Yeah, you guessed it: the electro bursts of Datacrashrobot have probed the aggressive electronica of Wirewound, merging amorphous glitched up machines and obscure textures, struggling against some of the heaviest beat work he’s produced. It’s an always intense, gripping experience through the realms of abstract and thought-provoking electronic music, the binary codes have taken over and all we can do is to allow these electro shocks to please our ears and mind as they see fit.
Prepare not to feel human for a while. Get ready to experience the cyborg transition through the simple click of download. (F.G.)

“Second”

Artist : Cryptic Mao
Title : Second
Catalog # : TXR058
Duration : 41:42
Date of release : November 06, 2013
Genres : dark ambient, drone, noise
Format : digital (FLAC and MP3)
This is the second independent release from France’s drones creator after a multi-year hiatus, and while it offers no surprises, Second still yields plenty of satisfaction. It may seem strange to categorize an album of noise-tinged drone as “dark ambient” but Cryptic Mao has been working for several years now, and it continues to perfect what has become a well-established musical recipe: sweeping synthetic and electroacoustic sounds, slowly moving frequencies, distant pulsating noises. Each element is here to construct a description of a pure mental landscape.

SmiteMatter – Technopolis Lost

SmiteMatter – Technopolis Lost
APP13001

SmiteMatter

“Technopolis Lost”

A melodic and liberating instrumental journey through audio scenes that were created to inspire the imagination, while also telling a story unique to each individual song. Combined inspiration from nature and technology blend seamlessly in a soulful expression, providing a getaway from most daily boundaries and stresses.

Originally released in 2011, Technopolis Lost is one of the very first (if not the first) full albums of ambient electronic music created entirely on iOS devices. No computers, hardware or dull dark studios were used in any way to produce and record this album. All of the music included here was made using an iPod touch and an iPad. Often the songs in Technopolis Lost began spontaneously while playing virtual instruments and synthesizer keys on the tablet’s glass touch screen. Other songs were made while in city and/or state parks, or in a forest under a dense canopy of trees, all in the Tacoma area of Washington state. Sometimes even capturing the sounds of rain, crowds, or other ambient noise, from rural to crowded areas, was a part of the music-making process.

This special 2nd Anniversary reissue includes the previously unreleased bonus track, Time On A Leash. Downloads also include a high-resolution version of the album artwork.

“treading”

these are the darker sides of justin james a.k.a. drmlgcc: atmospheric and dense, yet spacious at the same time. three tracks, located somewhere between musical architecture and spontaneity, are the building blocks of “treading”. justin guides us through sounds as diverse as can be. they are at times repetitive and minimal, ambient and floating, experimental and playful. they are organic and synthetic, wild and fragile, and occasionally steeped in krautrock improvisation.

all of this forms the basis for drmlgcc’s sound stories – his slowly evolving, acoustic tales.

it took him quite some time to complete this release, let us spend all the time necessary to be taken away, to experience the three tracks thoroughly.

Tetarise

“Orange Mood”

The following EP appeared in my mailbox recently, and so impressed with the tracks that the VA for 2013 has now been moved to a later release date. Tetarise is the artist, you may be familiar with previous releases on netlabels from him. Every release is extreme high quality with some of the finest sounds I’ve heard from a long time.

Orange Mood is a six track EP of such epic quality, I think this will be on your permanent playlist for years to come. Amazing arpeggios mixed in with epic pads and basses create a feel good and certainly mindblowing sound we’ve not heard at Kahvi for quite some time (I think the last EP to do this was Plokcity by Berestez which everybody was taken with).

Track of choice for this new Tetarise fan is most definately Aquamarine, which is just.. fantastic. Enjoy this release and see you next month!

Telegraphy

“Grey Matter”

The mysterious nature of some matter has captivated inquiring minds as long as there has been instruments of micro foresight. Elusive substances make their appearance only to offer conjecture on a theological context, where by attuned idealist can perhaps make a assumption that they exist at all.

Characterized has being here nor there, the escape artist of the material world evades understanding and discovery. Iono-15 “Grey Matter” by Telegraphy, though mysterious, it can not be understood in the traditional sense. Serving as a barrier of acoustic knowledge, sounds are ether here nor there, and at the same instance (there nor here).

Rhythmic guesses of deeply fluctuating vibes coming and going is a scientific hypothesis of how Telegraphy’s “Grey Matter” materializes in this reality.
