Noční pták (Nightbird) was formed ten years ago as a project of Luboš Fidler and Zdeněk Konopásek. Luboš Fidler is one of the most important and uncompromising performers of the Czech alternative scene. As a bass/acoustic guitar player, he was founding member of alternative rock groups of 1970s and 80s, such as Stehlík or Švehlík, he played with MCH Band, Kilhets etc. In early 1980s he was involved in the minimalist-experimental trio Janota-Fidler-Richter (together with Oldřich Janota and Pavel Richter). Zdeněk Konopásek was drummer of the early and late 1980s band Dvouletá fáma. He also played, e.g., in the Dr. Konopný Quartet (together with Joe Karafiát, Jan Štolba and Radomil Uhlíř) and also collaborated with Oldřich Janota. Currently he is involved in theatrical-musical performances of Divadlo Vizita and, as a second drummer, in the band Fish, Flesh, Field & Henry $. Occasionally, he plays solo on his drum set. The two are joined, in recent years, by a “permanent guest” Štěpán Pečírka (Vyšší popular, Kolotoč theater, Richter band).

The album “I am healthy and things are going well” is based on live recordings from rehearsals and home concert that took place in summer 2019. These recordings were revisited and reworked into original compositions by Luboš Fidler in early 2021.
Fidler explains the title of the album as follows: The phrase “I am healthy and things are going well” (or: I am healthy and fine) was pre-printed in all languages of Austrian-Hungarian monarchy on postcards sent by soldiers from the trenches of the First World War. This album can be understood as a flare fired from the trenches in which we have been for more than a year in 2020-21.

Having already released a series of introspective and thought-provoking tracks, Bon-Psy continues chipping away at his unique style to unearth new ways of presenting his sources of inspiration. Shauni returns here fresh off the back of ‘Disappear’, once again embellishing her R&B infused vocals in a stand out performance.

Inspired by the life of a flower, Bon-Psy navigates varying emotional states that capture the essence of the journey through existence. Joy, grief, despair, love & hope. Blüm depicts what it is to be alive in movie esque fashion, with singer Shauni providing a poignant narrative that unifies the lifecycle of a flower with our own lives as human beings.

Blüm is once again a stellar release for these two artists who work in synergy to translate the journey of life into music.

Ecléctica es la entrega de Chango Dadá para Pueblo Nuevo. Dividido en tres tracks, el álbum “Trimate” navega entre aspectos afables y otros misteriosos o incluso ásperos en cierta medida. El track de apertura de carácter textural, hila los sonidos y gestos de manera cinemática, transitando entre texturas electroacústicas y motivos instrumentales de piano y clarinete entre otros. En cambio, en la segunda pista, aparecen materiales cercanos a una ‘indietronica’, donde el lenguaje se sustenta en lo tonal y teclados melódicos. El track final vuelve a los ritmos constantes a través de formas y colores cercanos a un IDM donde se superponen voces y colores a veces desde sonidos connotativos y otras desde texturas más abstractas: aquí las grabaciones de campo cumplen un rol timbrístico y a la vez de signo, especialmente las voces y el contenido semántico presentado.

Eclectic is the delivery of Chango Dadá for Pueblo Nuevo. Divided into three tracks, the album “Trimate” navigates between affable aspects and other mysterious or even rough to some extent.The opening track,with a textural nature, threads the sounds and gestures in a cinematic way, moving between electroacoustic textures and instrumental motifs of piano and clarinet among others.On the other hand, on the second track, there are materials close to an ‘indietronica’, where the language is based on the tonal and melodic keyboards. The final track returns to constant rhythms through shapes and colours close to an IDM where voices and colors are superimposed, sometimes from connotative sounds and others from more abstract textures: here the field recordings play a timbristic and sign role, especially the voices and the semantic content presented.

This soundwork’s starting point is in the heatwave evenings of June 2018, in the south of France, when the heat made sleep impossible.

It is constructed like a soundtrack for a video movie where a narrative process is directly generated by airport public cameras. Timbres, intensities, pitches and rhythms « drop shadow on airport runway » and offer a perceptual immersion, guided by microphones, open to our habits and our dreams.

“…¿Es posible condensar 15 años de historia de Pueblo Nuevo, en apenas tres minutos y medio de música? Tal como un mago que generosamente enseña sus trucos, en las propias notas de programa el autor entrega interesantes detalles de cómo logró dicha hazaña, explicando de manera exhaustiva la metodología utilizada, la cual demuestra una planificación rigurosamente intelectual y, sin embargo, sugiere una apertura y disposición a dejar que el “azar” intervenga de manera libre y espontánea en el desarrollo de la obra. Lo que a primeras luces pareciera ser una evidente contradicción entre intelecto e intuición, resulta más bien ser un perfecto equilibrio entre mente y corazón, lo cual me lleva a pensar en el hecho de que el azar, como tal, no existe en ninguna experiencia de vida, si no que en realidad los hechos se suceden en un devenir de sincronicidad, en donde, a un nivel más profundo, todo está conectado de alguna forma invisible pero claramente palpable. Con esa disposición en mente, Gerardo Figueroa Rodríguez estableció un método de trabajo en el que dejó, de manera consciente e inconsciente, espacio para que la propia obra, en definitiva, fuera mostrando la pauta de cómo se iba armando a sí misma, convirtiéndose el autor en un instrumento o canal, más que un creador de “pleno derecho”. De esta manera Figueroa busca llevar al mínimo su propio sesgo personal: es como si intentase dar un paso al costado, actuando de manera casi invisible. Aún así, el sólo hecho de adoptar esa actitud constituye un sello en sí mismo, ineludible y propio del autor, lo cual entrega a este mixtape la categoría de obra musical autoral en sí misma…”

Like a magician who generously teaches his tricks, the liner notes provide interesting details of how the auteur accomplished this feat, exhaustively explaining the methodology used, demonstrating a rigorously intellectual planning and, yet, suggesting an openness and willingness to let “chance” freely and spontaneously intervene in the work unfolding. What at first glance seems an obvious contradiction between intellect and intuition, turns into a perfect mind and heart balance, leading me to think that chance, as such, does not exist in any life experience, but facts happen in a true becoming of synchronicity, where, on a deeper level, everything is connected in some invisible but clearly palpable way. This willingness in turn allowed Gerardo Figueroa Rodríguez to establish a working method which, consciously and unconsciously, left room for the work itself to portray its making patterns, becoming an instrument or channel, instead of standing as a creator in full force. Thus, Figueroa seeks to minimize his personal bias: trying to step aside, almost invisible. Even then, adopting this very attitude constitutes an inescapable hallmark, typical of any author, giving this mixtape itself the category of auteurial, musical work…”

Viajamos hasta un lugar sin carteles, ningún cartel en el camino ni en los costados, sólo árboles y de vez en cuando un auto estrellado. Seguimos la señal hasta una montaña de ventiladores y ventanas. Trepamos como pudimos, algunos se quedaron abajo esperando. En la subida vimos un brazo de muñeca y algunos alacranes espiando. Vimos un cuchillo en un cuaderno y también vimos una sombra cantando. Ya caía el sol cuando llegamos a la cima y lo encontramos: tenía una luz verde titilando. Conectamos nuestros cuerpos al aparato y algunas voces se presentaron, una a una dijeron sus nombres y comenzaron a sonar. Pasamos la noche escuchando y a la mañana bajamos. Era un día festivo y decidimos festejarlo. Nos conectamos al resto y les contamos lo que habíamos escuchado. No eran los mismos sonidos, era nuestro tributo a esa cima oxidada y a ese camino y a ese día festivo. Volvimos caminando de noche y no paramos hasta ver un cartel. Pero seguíamos conectados en el camino y en la cima y en la música y sonando.

Five tracks that involve a different vision, a new way of relating to the world around us, based on the essence of everyday environments soundscaping.
Hence the title of the ep, Panorami Verticali, intended as a new interaction with the context, no longer ordinary but translated into a different dimension, perpendicular in this case, like the imaginary line that from the ground, passing through legs, reaches the head : the noises are rhythmically and harmonically autonomous, self-celebrating, free and dancing in the sound space and from the earth they rise to be recoded by the mind of the listener.
Disconnected from the normal cultural classification, sounds acquire an independent meaning, result of a different elaboration in each one, making the passive routine become presence and the ego, the individual, the listener, more than ever collective archetype, one with the sound context.
The sea (“Osservazione partecipata”), cars on the street, a train station, but also the sound of a gate and the empty garden of a school (“Troppe trame”), the interiors of a steel factory (“Basta che poi ci ricordiamo dove”), are the result of elaborate, dilated and intertwined field recording sessions, played with an ‘organic’ synth (Lyra 8, Soma), drones, tape loops and modified keyboards sequences.
