Alternatives, autonomy and love, this is all about it.

The internet spirit was first this and not that control freaks product where everything is censored. That’s why you can get the english version on bandcamp and here the version with french lyrics on the Necrophile Hummingbird archive. In any case for both there is only the track “In Phase with Intention” which is with different lyrics. Also I think that spending more than two years to write down the illumination’s synthesis instead to just let the instrumental version tells a lot about what matter between the music and the message. And what message ? Is it really something to take as it as information or more something to think about. How on earth is it possible that such accident happen ?
From the first step, thinking that it was a very long track so being able to host a quite long spoken word speech. What a quirky idea to add a full operating system to a song ? And next being stuck with a so hugge task to check and fix these lyrics, and finally after recording them, it needed to double the track lengh to be able to host them. I mean do you think anybody not insane would have done it ?
I don’t think so. In any case now you can listen in french or read it in english. I’ve done a fast trad (that you can find at the very end of the presentation) and I may improve it at some point… but do I need to say that I’m not sure that anybody should care about this ?
As I always say it’s better to build each your own solution, and there will be far more chances that several of them help to fix the global earth shity situation.

Because I’m not the first one, I’m just one of the insane humans on a very long chain thru time, space and dimensions.

Last I think this album is linked with films like Ordaly Found Footage, The Hands Revolution, Pikadon, The world is over! and Necktar 2017… And with this last one it may be more easy to guess clearly the meaning behind. At least for the french natives because they can read all my writings in the akashic record on yoshiwaku’s bandcamp profile…

The voice would explain how most religions are fundamentally biased, established among other things to address all kinds of fears, particularly the fear of death.

So can we begin the time of synthesis, a new age that is not a new age, just what things could always be if we remembered who we are and how far we can go.
And why everything matters, when everyone matters. All this and more.
Everyone can bring their own material, mutate, transform, try all things.
You have in your hands one of the fruits of free culture. The art of sampling, of making loops with your thoughts to achieve trance. Collectively creating a dream that resembles us, intertwined, an amalgamation of all our dreams, this third step is our future.

The story of this record begins with its end, the day I was looking at photos of the triops and fairy shrimps that had hatched at Burning Man in Black Rock Desert, while I was listening to the Electronic Quicksands tracks that my long time collaborator Ethnomite Pux sent me in July 2023. After I did it, I remembered that Psy Shepherd sent me a track to collaborate after Nahel death in July too. So I had no other choice than to manage my time and take a few days to create my part of this split album. So this album seems mostly about how discomfort in music could be enjoyable, same way lead can be turned in gold. The way you look at everything changes everything. A french noiser a few weeks ago posted on a network that perhaps his music was junk, but it’s ok, he can deal with it. If you love it fine, if not he will not force you to listen. So as the AI disruption overturned the chessboard, It pushes us to find what ‘s make the difference between human music and AI music. Where is our humanity ?
As audience when You listen such works like this album, could You imagine for example that I can do the sing of the nomad robot blues and at the same time have no room to play it at home or only when I’m alone. Because my heart family think my music is junk. I deal with this hostile environment because it’s my choice. Life matter more than art, although art sustain my life. And I may not be wrong when I think that it’s the reality for most of the noisers.
I think noise is precisely this resilience. To refuse to follow the mainstream. To refuse the seduction lie, when it’s more about to negate yourself to fit with the norm. This resilience of humanity against all forms of control’s got a side effect called Solidarity. The more you suffer, the more you want to avoid this to the others. So what ? Each album is an act of resistance, like sending codes by radio wave during the WWII from london to each isolated sound creator. Keep your freedom, grow up your vegetable garden, you are not alone.

Where is our humanity ? It’s also the question we could ask if we were cops, but happily we are not. Of course In Memory Of Sahel is a variation, indeed a track done in memory of Nahel a 17 years racialized teenager killed by a cop in france in July 2023.

A thing about the form is that the tracks are shorter than my usual improvisations, being cut out in smaller parts, more set to electro ethnic trance and hard techno industrial styles. More than to provide comfort to the listener this is a way to build a serial music structure. Going back to a track, so close to another that your brain think it’s the same, but in reality it is modulated, it’s a variation, something about the nature of reality flux, this coil which come from well known fractal spiral structure…

Also if anyone is curious about were did come from the triops minimal rhythms, they are improvised with an electric frequencies generator.

Because whatever the distance the desert ears can hear. This album is dedicated to all the victims of the earthquake in Morocco & the floods in Lybia and all people dying because of global warming too.

Bien que moins souvent à l’honneur dans nos pages que d’autres projets du New-Yorkais Eddie Palmer (citons Cloudwarmer, Aries Death Cult ou feu The Fucked Up Beat en plus de ses albums solo), ce duo plus acoustique et psyché qui l’associe à la multi-instrumentiste et vocaliste Christine Annarino fait preuve d’une belle constance depuis une dizaine d’années d’existence, avec une quinzaine de sorties au compteur, pour l’essentiel en long format.

Déjà auteurs cette année de l’excellent “Valkyrie”, typique de l’univers des Américains entre trip-hop mystique aux accents world music, downtempo-patchouli densément arrangé et touches electro hédonistes, on imaginait les Fields Ohio persister et signer dans leur admirable pré carré Ninja-Tunesque (de la belle époque) avec cette suite. Loin s’en faut ! Si “Don’t Stare at the Sun When Your Hands are on Fire” se décline au gré de la double-hélice d’un ADN désormais bien connu, il donne également l’occasion aux deux musiciens de se réinventer avec subtilité. Les rythmiques ici sont souvent plus feutrées, les textures plus oniriques et gorgées de reverb au diapason des nappes de synthés scintillantes d’Eddie, les lignes acoustiques et vocales de Christine fondues dans l’ensemble avec une homogénéité toute particulière, les mélodies presque serpentines et d’une fluidité qui évoque l’eau, élément omniprésent sur le disque.

Souvent inspiré par la contemplation de la rivière Hudson que surplombe son appartement new-yorkais ou par ses sorties au bord de l’océan, Eddie Palmer y trouve en effet matière à se concentrer sur le présent, autre thème central de l’album. “Don’t Stare at the Sun When Your Hands are on Fire” sonne ainsi comme un rappel à l’ordre que l’on se fait, dans ces moments de chaos que la vie nous réserve : affronter les problèmes un à un, un jour après l’autre, sans se préoccuper de trop d’un futur encore lointain et abstrait. Autant de sensations – ligne d’horizon, impermanence et abstraction – qui président à cette superbe collection d’instrumentaux au groove impressionniste et hypnotique.

Although not featured in our website’s columns as often as other projects by New Yorker Eddie Palmer (including Cloudwarmer, Aries Death Cult or the late great The Fucked Up Beat, in addition to his solo albums), this more acoustic and psychedelic duo associating him with multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Christine Annarino has shown great consistency over the span of its ten years of existence, with about fifteen releases so far.

After dropping earlier this year the excellent “Valkyrie”, representative of the band’s signature sound somewhere between mystical trip-hop with “world music” elements, densely arranged downtempo psychedelics and hedonistic electronic touches, we imagined that Fields Ohio would go on with that “great Ninja Tune era” trademark with its follow-up. Not exactly though ! Even if “Don’t Stare at the Sun When Your Hands are on Fire” remains consistent with that henceforth well-known DNA, it also gives the two musicians the opportunity to subtly reinvent themselves. The beats here are often more subdued, the textures more dreamlike and bursting with reverb in tune with Eddie’s scintillating synth pads, Christine’s acoustic and vocal lines melt into the whole with more homogeneity, and the melodies’ fluidity evoke water, an omnipresent element on the record.

The contemplation of the Hudson River from his New York apartment or his outings by the ocean indeed help Eddie Palmer to focus on the present, another central theme of the album. “Don’t Stare at the Sun When Your Hands are on Fire” thus sounds like a reminder, in these moments of chaos that life has in store for us: facing the problems one by one, one day after another, without worrying too much about a still distant and abstract future. So many sensations – the horizon, impermanence and abstraction – which preside over the impressionistic and hypnotic groove of this impressive new collection of instrumentals.

Also this is perhaps the very last recording of Multiple Personality 3, that’s why it sounds sometime closer to PIRATE Tapes

*Halas it was a so small cellar to host five people like us inside without to be a total mess. It could be our worst improvisation session ! Like 5 elements unable to play together… till the last track when we remain only 3. I apologize I should have read first the combo name “Multiple Personality 3” and understand that to play in trio is the best line-up for us.

Years ago before The Immortal Coil tribute, in 2005, after the disparition of Jhonn Balance, I had contributed under the moniker of CorteX with IDX1274 to Full Cold Moon a tribute by netlabel Darkwinter.
Coil wasn’t really music but more a kind of ritualist performance, the shapes were secondary face to the essence. And this tribute was a kind of panorama, around the world at that time, of some of the experimenters with this spirit.
Few months before the death of Peter Sleazy Christopherson I wrote to him and he was interested to contribute to the next Necktar. Perhaps Necktar 2017 and next Pikadon and The World is Over! were quite close
to be the creations of another kind of TOPY Network. Anyway these words are here to try to show how I feel related to Coil and why so many years later today I need to pay my tribute to Coil.
What is really alive need to die to let live the next one. Life is this cycle.

Last but not least A Symbiotic Experience is a huge inspiration for this album…

01 – Sonido Postal – Confluence

De forma artificial, el audio toma forma de collage progresivo, donde la mezcla de grabaciones de campo comienzan en entornos naturales, con sonidos que representan esa espacialidad, poco a poco va mutando hacia sonidos en los cuales los humanos tienen alguna participación más directa, dilucidando de a poco un sonido más urbano, hasta terminar en el ruido de la ciudad, que refleja más la parte industrial de la misma.
Confluencia retrata una mínima posibilidad de las diferencias y similitudes que pueden contener estos entornos, pudiendo ser apreciados a través del sonido y la representación visual imaginativa, ya sea del lago o el mar, hasta la ciudad.

El audio es una recolección de grabaciones de campo realizadas en diferentes lugares de Argentina, realizado por Damián Alférez:
– Playa acantilados, Mar del plata (sonidos de piedras y el mar).
– Laguna de los Padres, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires (sonidos del agua, cotorras, gente, insectos).
– Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires (sonidos de ranas y perros).
– Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires ( sonido de gotas de agua en un departamento).
– Puerto Madryn, Chubut (sonidos de la calle, llamadores de ángeles, skates).
– Centro de la ciudad de Mar del Plata (sonidos de vehículos, ventiladores, interferencias).
– José Marmol, Buenos Aires (sonidos de vehículos, y vendedor de chatarra).

Artificially, the audio takes the form of a progressive collage, where the mix of field recordings begins in natural environments, with sounds that represent that spatiality, little by little it mutates towards sounds in which humans have some more direct participation, elucidating little by little a more urban sound, until ending in the noise of the city, which reflects more the industrial part of it.

Confluence portrays a minimal possibility of the differences and similarities that these environments can contain, being able to be appreciated through sound and imaginative visual representation, be it from the lake or the sea, to the city.

The audio is a collection of field recordings made in different places in Argentina, recorded by Damián Alférez:

– Cliffs beach, Mar del Plata (sounds of stones and the sea).
– Laguna de los Padres, Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires (sounds of water, parrots, people, insects).
– Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires (sounds of frogs and dogs).
– Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires (sound of water drops in an apartment).
– Puerto Madryn, Chubut (sounds of the street, angel callers, skates).
– Mar del Plata city center (vehicle sounds, fans, interference).
– José Marmol, Buenos Aires (vehicle sounds, and junk dealer).

03 – Les Soulèvements du Vivant – Flagrance

Extrait de la Casserolade du Lundi 17 Avril 2023 à 20h à Dole (France). Captation réalisée pour documenter le mouvement de résistance à la politique antidémocratique d’Emmanuel Macron.
Il n’a pas hésité à imposer sa réforme des retraites à l’aide de l’article 49.3 sans vote de l’assemblée nationale et ce malgré une opposition massive de la population à son projet de réforme des retraites : 93 % des actifs en janvier selon une étude de l’institut Montaigne et 80% de l’ensemble de la population selon un sondage Odoxa-Agipi en janvier 2023. Refusant de prendre en compte les manifestations qui ont eu lieu pendant des mois. Se drapant dans le mensonge de sa légitimité alors qu’il n’a été élu qu’en s’appuyant sur le rejet du rassemblement national. Spontanément la population a repris le principe des casserolades du printemps d’érable pour lui signifier que ses mensonges ne feraient plus jamais illusion. Les coups de sifflets annoncent le moment où la casserolade est partie en manifestation sauvage.

The Iliaque project, which has developed over several years, seeks to exploit the potential of CC music and explores this world through choice of sources and samples.
