about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Cinema Noir – Fernweh

Cinema Noir

“Fernweh”

After an EP (2012), a track (alternative take) in the anniversary compilation (2013), and a CD (2014); the band CINEMA NOIR from Palermo returns with “Fernweh”, a new album of electro post-rock sound with a maturity and a strong inclination towards a precise experimentation magically expressed with songs marked by the major presence of electronic than previous works and without any intention to retrace styles and paths already undertaken over the years. The need to explore new sound spaces and new methods of confrontation are apparent in a collaboration with the band VEIVECURA knowed during their concerts in the summer of 2014, in a track played each other and in the very successful reinterpretation of the song “Alice” from the first EP “Children kill ants” (2012) now electrified and transformed into “Parrots And Palms”; architects of a need for renewal and sudden upgrade of themselves and with few but effective words presenting their album:

Fernweh is nostalgia of places never visited, it’s the uncontrollable desire to leave, travel, explore. This album explores unusual musical lands and at the same time familiar, featuring collaborations and musical exchanges. The album is characterized by post-rock in symbiosis with electronic wisely dosed, trademark of the band that this time he meets a formula not yet experienced by the band: the collaboration with other musicians. The indie-pop VEIVECURA, creates a strange and fascinating musical mix for a two-way comparison (Fernweh and Persepolis)

Echo Hazard

“Salad Shark…. in Space”

Another guest artist graces the collective this time, Norwegian artist ‘Echo Hazard’. Combining the genres of ambient and idm with lounge, Echo Hazard has created a classic chill out EP which wouldn’t be out of place in the background of any chillout lounge… except for the idm and electronica elements which demand your attention throughout.

The strangely titled ‘Salad Shark… in Space’ is an eight track EP with sublime tracks like PalladiumS, Nuke the Sun and Boreholes, with echos of Budha Building and perhaps a touch of Solar Fields and Cell.

Track of choice: Boreholes. Mastering by Mnemonic Studios. Enjoy!

The Dubbstyle – Simona

The Dubbstyle – Simona
[DPH022]

The Dubbstyle

“Simona”

The brothers Mauro Waro Salina and Federico Bindub Salina started making their first appearances to the public five years ago, as djs in the local scene of the city of Mendoza, Argentina. Soon they started incorporating in their sets their own compositions. This happened in the middle of year 2012, when the two djs started demonstrating and promoting their own music through various events in different venues. Their sound is a mixture of trip hop, reggae and dubstep, presented to the audience in a live dubwise style.

In the late 2012 Waro decided to commit himself totally to the bass and Bindub took the role of the Dub Master. That is how THE DUBBSTYLE was born, a live dub project from Argentina, in the spirit of the new breed of dub acts combining live sounds with the traditional on-stage dubbing. They perform as a duo in Mendoza, Valparaiso (Chile) and Cordoba.

During their live shows there is a very distinct stage presence with them dressed up as monkeys, staying anonymous to the public. Nevertheless, it is the originality of their sound their big asset. Especially during their lives, their sound enters into new dimensions with the addition of many guest musicians on drums, guitar, percussion and horns.

Although quite new in the dub scene, they have already released halfway of 2013 their first EP titled “Blood Fire”, a self-release that can be downloaded for free from their own webpage. It is through that release that they were discovered by Dubophonic and were included in the compilation Explorations in Dub with the track Alive, while they also appeared on the Red Star Martyrs’ EP Time for tea serving their own recipe of Mint tea.

SIMONA is the firts EP on Dubophonic by The Dubbstyle. It includes six brand new tracks by the Argentinian duo, juggling between trip hop beats, dubstep, traditional South America melodies and reggae, all presented in their own original dubwise style. We have included also an unreleased cut of their first track “Bloodfire”, specially reconstructed for this release, featuring Enzo Furiasse on the live trombone, properly dubbed and spaced out. With these words said, please welcome the new heavyweight dub sound from Mendoza! The Dubbstyle!

Various Artists – Oompa Loopma Riot

“Oompa Loopma Riot”

From 1979 to 1983, the Australian Terse Tapes label made cassette compilations. These are in danger of becoming “classics”, a complete betrayal of the energy that made them. There is no better antidote to cloying nostalgia than the corpse getting up and refusing the funeral.

So instead say that from 1979 to 2015, Terse Tapes made compilations, and here is more of the same. You could put it on a cassette if that matters.

I invited a few people I know, and they invited a few people they know, and music started to arrive in my inbox. I refused to listen to any of it until April Fools day. No one curated anything, although some people were nice enough to chase up their friends.

Having heard this music over the last 24 hours I can divide it into some useful ‘sides’, but keep in mind you are able to arrange it however you like in this non-linear wonderland in which we are trapped.

Side A: people who have doubts about music.
Side B: people who do not fear a pretty tune.
Side C: people that make graphs and grids.
Side D: people who could plausibly perform in a public ale house
Side T: time lords

Although supplied for no payment, there are specific rights attached to the recordings, which remain the property of the artists. Do not sell this music for a profit, do not use this music for any commercial purpose, including but not limited to, placement alongside advertisements or behind paywalls.

“EPileptic”

Emphase is an acid techno track in its purest form: an acidline which wobbles and cuts through the bass while at the same time chilling as it drives you on.

Mseq’s remix of Emphase is the perfect oldskool detroitesque counterpart of the original. It is also built on the acidline but has its own character. The way the harmonies are being played emphasizes his great style.

Burn it down is a raw house track with vocal shreds animating you to burn down things. We encourage you to dance to the groove of this chicago-style tune instead.

“Particle Decelerator”

Manb is here and is ready to twist the laws of phisics as he decided to build his “particle decelerator” in Sucu Music territory. He takes samples, glitches and noises, stirs everything in his subatomic blender, and the result is a beautiful and obviously juicy cocktail.
(It should be noted that “Particle decelerator” sees the light as a video album, and for this reason it should preferably first be seen before being heard.)

Le Matin – Le Martin

Le Matin

“Le Martin”

For its 27th release, Da ! Heart It Records gratifies you with a new album by Le Matin: “Le Martin.”

Over the past decade, we’ve seen this musical UFO pass by on a Chicago house label (Mathematics Recordings), on the ParisHQ compilation covering Julien Clerc in an 8bit version, and even on a breakcore label (Berzerk Produkts) remixing Franky Vincent!

We also owe him must-see video games such as Ours en Slip Simulator and Blektre (a real-life simulator)…We get it, Charles Torris is a geek, a comprehensive and prolific artist who likes to cultivate paradoxes.

In this album, you will find his sub-realist poetry, where dark – and sometimes coarse – humor slices with a sober, sensitive, and melancholic music. In his displaced universe, synthesizers and “old-style” rhythm boxes draw landscapes with neon lights, cellophane clouds, and the silicone architecture of a future as fascinating as it is troubling.

His sonorities may evoke Detroit’s techno, cold wave, and even the IDM of a DMX Krew. But as the artist says himself – and as the piece Nouvel Évier shows – “If Kraftwerk or Dopplereffekt were French, their balls would spill out from their dirty kangaroo underwear…”

This album deserved a case fit for its preciousness, thus it is presented in a folded LP sleeve decorated with a superb illustration, along with a drawing, cards, a badge, and a sticker, all created by Élise Kobisch-Miana.

Let it be known: this album by Le Matin is to French chanson what sausage is to sauerkraut: indispensable!

“Le Martin”, Da ! Heard It Records’ 27th release is distributed under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND license. The album
