transparent points on four axes is a layered, electroacoustic studio collaboration. each track began with a ground layer of a composed or improvised performance on double bass or synthesizer, in tandem with a directed, auto generated soundscape produced by an analogue modular synthesizer. the tracks were finished with a further layering of synthesizer, electronics and percussion.

“Technoburlesque: Image Snatchers 2”
The technoburlesque show Image Snatchers is a series of constantly changing and evolving episodes, now already in its sixth season. It is a modern take on burlesque, packed with witty feminist-inspired campy and queer humour and often critically commenting on the current socio-political landscapes and events both locally and beyond. The numbers enact actual political figures, like Angela Merkel, Melania Trump, and the local culture minister on one hand, or more general but psychologically detailed roles on the other, such as a chauvinist macho, a slow-walking grandma, or an android with a drinking problem. The music is sometimes used as a ready-made and an important reference to specific past era, scene or its vibe. Lip-syncing makes an appearance too and so do electronic bootleg edits or remix tracks. Popular songs are sung live, sometimes with lyrics changed to various degrees, whereas at other times completely original music is made by the collective. Different languages have so far been used – besides Slovenian and English obviously, we had lyrics sung in Portuguese, French, Chinese, Italian, German, and Serbo-Croatian in one way or another.
Out of the three tracks on the so called mainside part of this EP, two of them are rapped in Slovenian. “Vrtnice” (Roses) is a poetic but outspoken take on dismissive attitudes towards artists in contemporary politics and public life in general. It says that artists (“we are the culture squad”) are needed in a society to make everyone feel the life in colours, with a present mind and heart, for “roses” are needed as much as bread. “Dnevnik” (Daily news) features a bunch of performers-turned-MCs, sarcastically and critically touching upon various aspects of daily life: abortion, immigration, consumerism, capitalism, and mental health among others. In the refrain, it features a French-Portuguese performer in the role of an immigrant trying to sing widely known Slovene nursery rhymes while threatening with stereotypical threats attributed to immigrants: stealing jobs, kidnapping wives, and corrupting children.

“Rasgos Particulares” is Javier Moraga’s debut release in Modismos catalogue. Its electronic influence can be traced back many years, through diverse publications inside specialized netlabels like EPA Sonidos and Pueblo Nuevo. He is part of the group Mr & Oso, while also working at Radio Valentin Letelier, the University of Valparaiso’s radio station. He produces the program “Sala de Maquinas,” as well as producing direct presentations and selects synthetic sounds for the station through it’s network, among other things. “Rasgos Particulares,” present delivery could be a sample about Moraga’s interests with contemporary electronic, where certain tone quality is acidic and minimal, as small condiments, they go extending upon alternating atmospheric layers, sustained on defragmented pulses, but traces of the music continue. These particular traits are expressed in the track “Tierno Salvaje” dedicated to the memory of Kurt, a figure that insufflated the spirit of the underground scene of Viña Del Mar and Valparaíso in the nineties, which opens the 52 minutes of music. The other tracks of the album spin perfectly, traveling through titles such as “Miaucheck,” “Arena Lunar (a lo salvaje)”, “Dame Cinco”, at certain moments there is something dark, with minor scales in the tones, a cinematic fiction of the digital reality that we consume daily, but allows us to unwind, yet expresses a world where the organic, virgin and primitive can coexist, as expressed in “Cayehuque (localidad)”. But the continuous progression in “Simulación Colectiva,” runs as a transit towards the final melody of “Rasgos Particulares,” from which a flash of faint light seems to emanate; it comes to a definitive closing with “Resolana.” Which offers a halo of light, in where the final harmony, reiterative and kaleidoscopic, solve all anguish, torment and conflict preceding, balancing the darkness.

In this last month of August, NOUNOUHAU celebrated its two year anniversary. For us it is little time and so much time – at the same time. And in that time, time time time time.
We did a lot in two years and its hard to explicit it all in one text. It was a journey, it still is, always mutating and constantly evolving – with one foot at creation and the other at self-discovery, in a public fashion – work in progress style.
Now, two years is a numeric value, so let’s celebrate our numbers. All of our 23 releases present in our bandcamp, from singles to entire albums. Releases from more than 11 different artists. All of them with their work on our youtube, which has over 60 videos – ranging from video clips, lyrics, what-have-you. And how to forget our events? Three distinct events that—

The Dubwegians where founded in the UK back in 2010, when Gary had the idea of starting a dub band. He, therefore, approached his old school friend Richy, whose guitar skills were always thought highly of. He just wanted to play bass in the band and not do any producing.
The band that Gary dreamed, never really managed to pull off. It kind of fizzled out after a while as people came and went, up for a jam and a smoke, but not up for putting in the hours of practice a band needs.
Gary and Richy decided to work as a duo, laying down some reworks of their favourite dub tracks. Having spent most of their life growing up in the south side of Glasgow, the River Clyde has been a great inspiration for them. This is how South of the River Clyde came about. The reference of course to the great Augustus Pablo is more than obvious.
Gary remembers: “We tried to capture the energy of a live band. In the absence of a drummer, it was a struggle for us to use a software, trying to capture the original warmth of analogue dub. It was a real learning experience; listening and trying to emulate these dub masterpieces. We have never done dub producing before and were slowly realizing some of the techniques used.”
South of the river Clyde includes 5 instrumental tracks; dub reworks of some great roots reggae masterpieces, produced back in 2011 with love and lots of passion. Richy played melodica and keyboards (and also guitar on “Sun is shining Dub), Gary played bass and covered all other sounds and production, using a laptop to overdub and edit their takes. Give thanks to Robert McWilliams for granting us the license to use the photo of the river Clyde in the artwork.

“Where’s the Rainbow? “
Between the years 1620 and 1636, Peter Paul Rubens created, without the prompting of any commission, his Landscape with Philemon and Baucis. He kept working on this image throughout his life. The painting tells the story of Philemon and Baucis as Ovid presented it in his Metamorphoses. In Ovid’s narrative, an old married couple receives a surprise visit from the gods Jupiter and Mercury, disguised as weary travelers who cannot find a place to spend the night. The old couple does not judge these travelers or question where they are from; they simply offer them kindness and hospitality. The two gods offer the couple a gift expressing their gratitude: they spare their lives when, the next day, a great flood comes crashing over the land.
In the painting, only a small group of figures makes reference to this fable. The main theme of the piece is the unpredictability of nature with its untamed, uncontrolled power: lightning and thunder, rain and storms, a cow screaming as its life ends within a torrent, a mother desperately trying to rescue her baby. This is an apocalyptic catastrophe of unimaginable proportions. And yet, Rubens included a hopeful sign in this image: in the lower left-hand corner of the tableau, you can see a rainbow…
“Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high,” sang Judy Garland in the well-loved film The Wizard of Oz (1939), a song promising hope and a wonderful world far from the darkness and ominous threats of the Second World War.
This image has much to tell us in our contemporary lives, as our current reality includes events such as the refugee crisis, global warming, and the threat of nuclear disaster. It acts as both a warning and a sign of hope.
For the theatre project Ganymed Nature, composer Karlheinz Essl worked extensively with Rubens’ Landscape with Philemon and Baucis, creating an immersive soundscape to reflect this painting. This sound work is based on algorithmically generated soundscapes taken from weather and other natural phenomena: the forest and the wind, a stream that swells and overflows, thunder and lightning. We also hear sounds that refer to human activity: rustling steps through foliage that turn into the ringing of high heels, in which a woman stalks on asphalt. And then there are signaling sounds: a firebell extends into an unending tolling that spins onward into infinity.
The poetry of the rainbow overarches everything; the promise of salvation, a glimmer of hope. To express this, Essl worked with an a-capella-choir to create chord structures which he then recorded and electronically transformed. The highlighted melodic fragments are reminiscent of the famous rainbow song yet appear in a peculiar harmonic disguise which let you sense the atmospheres of other planets.

Pierre Guilhem il faisait des dessins mais aussi de la musique alors voilà son album de Dub qui date de 2005, il l’avait fait en CD et Claude Biscuit en avait un exemplaire qu’il a maintenant égaré. Mais Reno Leplat Torti nous en a retrouvé un que voici, la pochette scanée est à venir, car voici une detestable miniature qui a pourtant son charme. Un album réalisé avec un synthé (Casio, il nous semble) et qui a été composé à Nîmes. Il a d’abord été promu sur la page de Nunu Editions, autour de 2005. De la dub pour plage à savourer entre amis, avec un pastis, dans la mesure du possible.

“Flowers in the Trashbin”
Ayato & Kecap Tuyul met in 2008 and then started to collaborate regularily, mostly by file exchange. Flowers in the Trashbin was their first common work of this kind, a psychedelic sonic trip haunted by whispers and noises from weirdly tuned/prepared guitars, lo-fi electronics, & ghostly voices. Sometimes melodic, sometimes more abstract, always imaginative, these tracks were recorded and mixed between 2008 and 2009. The resulting album was released in march 2010 by HAK lo-fi record as a limited edition CD-R with a special rectangular cardboard cover that has been out of print since a long time. 8 years after both musicians still like a lot this album and would like it to share it with a broader audience.

Proyeknya kali ini berjudul Surup, yang menurutnya diistilahkan sebagai Trance Techno. Sebuah track yang cukup menarik dan membius. Terinspirasi dari kegiatan berkesenian merayakan hari kemerdekaan di kampung halamannya Magelang, ketika tari tarian tradisional membius penari dan para penonton. Kesurupan menjadi ritus yang biasa disaksikan. Musik yang disajikan Mahamboro sedikit banyak menggambarkan nuansa ketukan ritmis yang dengan hawa techno yang cukup menghipnotis. Back in 2014 when Cheese N Pot-C first began releasing music here at blocSonic, one of my first requests was for Cheese to deliver a solo DJ / cut album. With turntablism skills of his caliber, I knew it’d be an incredible thing to hear. I long hoped he’d deliver but never pressured. Well today that moment has arrived with the release of “Barnaby Comes Alive!!!”! I have to tell you, when I found out about the project and got to hear it, I was giddy like when I was a teenager and first listening to one of my favorite hip-hop artist’s new albums! I hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve been!

“Microorganisms” is a project that focuses on the innovation and composition of new sounds constructed from the cultivation of bacteria and fungi. A laboratory endeavor headed by the artist, based on recording the growth of organisms and their patterns of movement, which are then processed to give rise to sounds and, eventually, music.
While keeping technology very close at hand, Cass Nova also turns to more indigenous sounds, delivered by instruments with Latin American roots (such as Kultrún and Trutruka), which are recorded organically and which coexist in their respective musical pieces with scientific experimentation.

Shown in various places in Paris the performance “Parachute”, presented by the theatre company Machine, consists in a mobile dome under which one comedian faces one spectator. A couple of minutes to save the world from its delusions, a moment of intense intimacy before the world and its chaotic noise repeat themselves.
Sound of the selves is also an invitation to think and recreate the bound between the voices of the world and the voice of the machine: 8 musicians with variegated backgrounds offered an edit of one of the tracks in order to push one step ahead the endless communication between the creative forms of life.”
