about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

misaa – minoritario

“minoritario”

At times, a tent appears in the hallways of a giant shopping center announcing a collective desire to elope. The times of cynicism and sitting on the beach chair, believing that nothing was going to melt from its foundations, are over.

The exercise of power is a pressure cooker, using (re)pression. Machinery requires to generate a drowning, and drown every slap made by the oppressed. It represses it with physical and economical violence, and with tons of images alluding to static structures. A majority category, a common point, to agree, but fundamentally unreachable and inaccessible in its totality. And there is a minority counterpart: poor, ugly, violeted, spectator of its own minority but immersed in the dream of being included, someday, by the majority.

But there is a third category, the one who does not want or need to continue playing the rules of a game that was created so that they would lose it. People with defective bodies, physically weak, second-level genres, depressed, shy and mutant, although they don’t stop moving. They require shaking and articulating themselves, know each other and look at each other, and so they realize that they were not so alone, and that they did not need the normality that the repressive images proposed to them. Seek the not obvious and realize yourself as a constant flow, that shakes and makes uncomfortable the status; questions, says and screams, and whose only way to be stopped completely, to be killed, is by condemning it to oblivion. Unfortunately, we have a good memory.

“minoritario” is an album that inserts us in a constant intermittency. Short rhythms and textures that draw a landscape where we are forced to be alert. The challenge of paying attention and perceiving what is around usduring a change of decade where we have the challenge of living with uncertainty every day. Musical pieces that announce the arrival of a momentthat does not stop becoming present, and in turn the challenge of facing what surrounds usto follow our constant march.

Corrado Saija – Marghera

Corrado Saija

“Marghera”

Marghera
Presentazione dell’album

Mild Wild – Vol. 1

Mild Wild – Vol. 1

Mild Wild

“Vol. 1”

This music is written and recorded quickly to capture the emotion of the moment. It’s lyrics are mostly taken from stream of conciseness and short journal entries. Some sections work to tell a story while others are content to depict abstract thoughts and feelings. The songs contain themes of selfishness, youth, consumerism, relationships, pollution, drug use, duality, religion, and employment to name a few. Although it is up to the listener to take away whatever messages they hear.

The project has been a work in progress since 2018, picked up when it felt right and not forced. All 12 songs were recorded to cassette tape using a Tascam Portastudio. Guitars, and ukulele make up the majority of the instrumentation but banjo, synth, harmonica, and bells can be found throughout. In place of traditional drums found objects and small percussion have been layered and sampled to build a backing rhythm. While tracking a variety of guitar pedals were placed in line to manipulate the sounds. Nearly all of the vocal tracks have been run through a “Hall of Fame” reverb pedal and very little post production work was done. Vocal doubling and hard stereo panning aim to give the tracks a spacious and ambient feeling. Each track is different but the methods used to capture the audio give the project unity.

Mild Wild has taken it’s influences (both sonically and visually) from the writer’s experiences and upbringing, many of which are subconsciously sourced. However some artist that have directly shaped the direction of the music include The Beatles, Kool A.D., Mac Demarco, Pavement, The Kinks, Stanley Kubrick, Wes Anderson, George Orwell, Ansel Adams, and Vincent Van Gough. Although that list could be much longer with more self reflection.

Mild Wild creates music not for profit but to share a brand of creativity that is truthful. All the songs included in Vol. 1 are free to download and use however others may see fit. The music is licensed under a Attribution Creative Commons. The hope is that the sounds when set free will organically find their way into other creative places.

“Riverside of Uji”

co-dec & Android

“Internado”

Patricio González (co-dec) & Cristián Reyes (Android) are restless producers within the electronic culture in Santiago de Chile, each of them with an interesting portfolio of projects to his credit. González is the current director of prolific Orion Network label and former member of historic bands such as Vigilante. Reyes is an active composer and remixer whose tracks give live to the dancefloor in many clubs. Both come together in the live techno music group “Dentro del Mismo Individuo”.

Within their different styles, both have a common path of musical influences, that include from electro pop, new wave, dark to industrial techno and minimalism. Together they present this time an unreleased album based in the unique experience that “live” gives to recordings sessions, which unlike the work on studio, allows them to give free rein to the improvised exercise of building soundscapes with analogue electronic machines, samplers and drum machines.

The essence of this work, mainly guided by techno and electro beats, is a remix that both musicians have built in a single moment in live format, using as base and initial spark the individual stems from the track “Miniature” by C/VVV (Mika Martini, Pablo Flores and Francisco Pinto), electronic trio based in Santiago as well. The perfect excuse to start a journey of almost 45 minutes, which can be enjoyed both rhythmically and through the rich textures, melodies and modulations of synthesisers. Also, because the different scenes and emotions generated from this unique live creation, this release is a suggestive trip.

The recording of this concert was on July 28th, 2018, in the basement of “El Internado” venue, on the occasion of the celebration of the 13th Anniversary of Pueblo Nuevo netlabel.

Turn off lights, seek stimulation and make room to move freely with this album.

big blood – Do You Wanna Have A Skeleton Dream?

big blood – Do You Wanna Have A Skeleton Dream?

big blood

“Do You Wanna Have A Skeleton Dream?”

Big Blood is:
Colleen Kinsella
Caleb Mulkerin
Quinnisa Kinsella Mulkerin

Written and recorded at home by Big Blood.
This album is dedicated to Paul Yves Reny, Greta Thunberg and Fred Cole. Thank You to Feeding Tube Records.

Taken From Feeding Tube Records:
Wow! Great new LP by the full trio version of Maine’s Big Blood. Colleen, Caleb and Quinnisa are all present and accounted for at every turn on this one!

Unlike their last LP, The Daughter’s Union (FTR 459) (which seemed like some sort of experiment involving glam-rock-readymades), Do You Wanna? is awash with crazily re-imagined girl group dynamics. Some of these tight-sparkly-dress recreations have a savage teenage authority, but others wiggle more like dreams stolen from the nodes of Julee Cruise, Angelo Badalmanetti or David Lynch. Sometimes there are style-ghosts standing in all the expected places, but none of them are behaving the way we’d expect.

But I do not wish to paint the sound here as monochromatic. There are many of Big Blood’s classic elements employed with trademark pluck — witchy patches recalling early Spires That in the Sunset Rise, small balloons filled with glitter & gas-pulses, bubbling pools of pure psychedelic confusion. But the strange sophistication of children wearing Diana Ross masks is something new. And it’s such a mesmerizing vision, I find myself paying extra attention to it.

But then again, that’s just the surface. The lyrics here are of a piece with Big Blood’s patented approach of creating surrealist poetry in a rural and arrestingly original American style. Quinissa’s newly rampant influence seems to be grounding some of the lyrical imagery in more quotidian scenes (”Insecure Kids,” etc.), but with the parental examples she’s afforded on a daily basis, this may just be a phase. But whatever else it is, Do You Wanna? is another amazing spin from Big Blood. And there’s even a poster you can pin on your memory board. Talk about your win/win situations!
