about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“For Hans Jenny”

The album is dedicated to the Swiss scientist Hans Jenny and his work in the field of Cymatics. The visual aspects of sounds that can be revealed through the movement of matter inspired me to try and recreate these experiments. Trying out cymatics led to a certain understanding which sounds create patterns and which parameters influence these patterns. These sounds were not necessarily harmonious in the sense of Western music theory, however, they have proven to be a fascinating asset in my sound archive. Some of the sounds that are part of the album For Hans Jenny were recorded as early as 2010 and they were turned into a performance in 2014. Afterwards, the sounds were dormant in my hard drives only to be revived in the EE remastered version.

Insanity Circle – Itinerario Nocturno

Insanity Circle – Itinerario Nocturno
[MNF036]

Insanity Circle

“Itinerario Nocturno”

Various Artist

“Access Frame: Equity”

Kamizdat is proud to present a 2020 Netlabel Day release.

Access Frame: Equity is a compilation of 20 local electronic artists with many original works that span a wide spectrum of electronic music genres: from noise and sonic art, via bass, breaks, all the way to acid techno. The concept of the compilation is to bring attention to the conflict between necessity of free culture and enclosure of culture by copyright law. The conflict which is temporarily solved by Creative Commons licences.

Access Frame is a series of compilations of adventurous music published by Kamizdat under a Creative Commons licence on 14. July – International Netlabel Day. It tries to establish a practice of thinking critically about access to, and distribution of, art. It poses a question: what is the frame through which we are allowed, and able, to access culture? How is it created, by whom, and can such frame of access be modified and transgressed?

MIOPEC – Wet Desert

MIOPEC – Wet Desert
[pn160]

MIOPEC

“Wet Desert”

This album is a real treasure: produced from 2005 to 2010 and distributed via CD in underground networks, it has been finally unearthed ten years later via a Pueblo Nuevo remastered version.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Chilean musician and producer Marcelo Peña C. (Miopec, Tobías Alcayota, MKRNI, VAN, among others), “Wet Desert” presents an harmonic experimental blending of digital programming, midi sequences and analog samples. Sounds reminiscing ethnographic recordings mixed with experimentation in rhythms, turning into uncanny soundscapes, are turning points on the album. Complex programming and melodies suggesting psychedelic analog keyboards, are also present a-plenty, as a recurring feature in Miopec‘s extensive musical output.

“Wet Desert” is an intimate, auteur album I’ve been listening to for years. It is also twofold: on the one hand, it sounds very well outdoors, played loud, mostly in isolated landscapes, coming together with the environment. On the other hand, considering Miopec’s experience in production and mixing, it is also a pleasant listening experience with headphones, constantly discovering new sounds and arrangements. A reminder that electronica’s usually dry colors can also present reflective, enlightened, and, mostly, liquid moments.

mGee – Remixes, Volume 1

mGee – Remixes, Volume 1
[BSMX0192]

mGee

“Remixes, Volume 1”

So, you may or may not know that not only do I (Mike Gregoire, founding owner) run this label, but I also dip my toe in music-making as mGee, whenever I have free time. So, it’s no surprise that I rarely release music, since I rarely have extra time. That’s too bad, because I love making it. Four years after my last release, I finally decided to make time for it. I recently heard an old remix and thought that it could use a few tweaks and a remaster. That lead to deciding to revisit a few remixes and releasing them together as Remixes, Volume 1 to help celebrate Netlabel Day. So here we are. I hope you discover or rediscover these songs and perhaps revisit each artist’s releases, too! Included are remixed songs by BADLUCK, Cheese N Pot-C, Garmisch, The Honorable Sleaze & Liam Stewart. All incredible artists that deserve to be heard beyond the remixes. As the name suggests, expect another volume sometime in the future.

Thank you so much to all artists that have allowed folks to remix their tunes! R.I.P Sleaze.

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Donnie Ozone

“Skate God”

Aside from his appearance on Cheese N Pot-C’sDown To The Wire EP at the end of 2019, it’s been exactly a year since we last released a Donnie Ozone joint. That’s because we can always count on him holding it down for Netlabel Day. In fact, his last release was for that exact reason. Well here we are and Donnie once again delivers for this special day celebrating netlabel culture. With Skate God, he gives us a tasty hip-hop joint laced with drum n bass beats and lyrics painting a vivid picture of a skate god doing that thing! Hey kids… enjoy this.

Yo Donnie… you continue to deliver the super dope jams… thank you, sir!

Barely four months after the release of I Wouldn’t Want To Disappoint You By Not Disappointing You, Vietnam II return with the incredible Suspect Citizen!
