about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Yulio – Cosmic Fractal

Yulio

“Cosmic Fractal”

Yulio (Julio Muñoz) presents his fifth album “Cosmic Fractal”, an album combining electronic, ambient and cosmic elements to create a soundscape that transports you through space and time.

Cosmic fractals are geometric patterns found in nature and repeated at different scales throughout the universe. These patterns can be found in cosmic structures such as galaxies, nebulae and in the large-scale distribution of matter in the universe, generated through complex physical processes such as gravitation, turbulence and radiation.

Cosmic fractals study has helped scientists to better understand the structure and evolution of the universe. In addition, their beauty and complexity has fascinated artists, people interested in science and nature.

All this mystery was studied and clarified by Benoit Mandelbrot (1924-2010), a mathematician known for his pioneering work in fractal theory and fractal geometry. Mandelbrot was one of the first to realize the importance of self-similarity, scale in nature and complex phenomena. His work opened a new field in mathematics and computer science. His ideas have been applied in many areas, including physics, biology, economics, engineering, and music (why not?)..

From the very start, a unique atmosphere can be perceived, due to evolving and constantly changing sound effects. Yulio adds an extra complexity and texture layer to every composition, developing a character and personality of their own, wrapped by an exploratory approach, leading to even more intimate discoveries.

These energetic pieces make your senses vibrate with space-like sounds, while the more relaxing ones motivate self-reflection and contemplation.

Summing up, “Cosmic Fractal” is a fascinating listening experience, taking you on a journey through galaxies and the cosmos – a house trademark . The elements mixture, as well as sonic fractality, create a unique music work – one we recommend to any electronic music fan.

Markus Masuhr – The Dub Theory ‘Chapter Nine’

Markus Masuhr – The Dub Theory 'Chapter Nine'
[Insectorama160]

Markus Masuhr

“The Dub Theory ‘Chapter Nine'”

in the depths of my soul, whispers of rhythm ignite,
As the Dub Theory Chapter Nine takes flight.
A wide open sky, where melodies soar,
Lost in the woods, nature’s secrets I explore.

The mountain is calling me home, its peaks so grand,
Echoes of canyons, where echoes expand.
Dancing in the dark, beats pulse through the night,
Deepening shadows, unveiling hidden light.

Through an endless abyss, the music cascades,
Guiding emotions, like a serenade.
In this sonic journey, where dub theories entwine,
A symphony of depths, transcending space and time.

“《O-ksi氣-2》”

OXYGEN

It’s a sound journey about city and nature, artificial and natural environment.

By an interesting coincidence, Yenting Hsu and Rani Jambak both had same experience by living in Australia several years ago. Being far away from their own land made them more aware of their own culture or environment. That was their big inspiration to start their own project about environment “Waterland” and #formynature. By then, Rani and Yenting keep following their interest and exploring their own culture and environment through sound.

Although both grew up in the city, but they are fascinated by their own natural scape. Yenting lives in Taiwan, with the sea surrounded. Rani lives in Medan, close to the rain forest – Leuser Ecosystem. Two different nature scene make them connect through OXYGEN where rain forest and ocean are the most important to produce oxygen.

All tracks are composed by 2 different soundscapes of city and nature from Taiwan and Medan, North Sumatra. Experimenting many style of composition, Rani and Yenting collaborate in different type of production by sharing their sound collections and mixing each sound back and forth. They try to meditate on how human and nature coexist and question the possibility of harmony.

This album is the final result of an online residency project “∀ Flλ ≡nters. ∥mmense βreath of ⊥he ∫ea:ℝesidency” organized by Open Contemporary Art Center in 2021-2022.

Dominik Vogel – A Strange Loop around the Planet

Dominik Vogel – A Strange Loop around the Planet
[Wuerfel 38]

Dominik Vogel

“A Strange Loop around the Planet”

The title of the album and the titles of the individual tracks already suggest it: It’s about futuristic soundscapes, strange seeming sounds, but also loops and here and there beats. Dominik Vogel operates with his modular system once again at the intersection of techno, IDM, ambient and sound art. All of this, as it were, at the open heart, because everything is as always recorded live in one pass and only minimally post-processed.

If you’ve ever had the thought that Dominik Vogel looks like the commander of a spaceship on his equipment, you’re welcome to fully embrace that notion here. Two young test listeners commented on the album independently of each other with the words: “Sounds like being in a spaceship” and “Sounds like being in a science fiction movie”. Asked about this, Dominik responds with: “You could say the album is the soundtrack to a movie which is shot from a spaceship :)”.

So if you like, you can rhyme together your own sci-fi story in the combination of the talking titles and the music. Of course, the inclined listeners can also just dive into these sound worlds, let themselves be carried away and feel inside, what associations the heard arouses in you. There is a lot to discover here and it is worthwhile to let the album work on you in a moment of rest.

Lately Kind of Yeah – Motor Grown-up

Lately Kind of Yeah – Motor Grown-up

Lately Kind of Yeah

“Motor Grown-up”

For my ears, Lately Kind of Yeah and evocations of nature come packaged as one, accompanying or even transcending literal lyrical interpretations or impressions one might scoop from track titles. Melodies plod like footsteps on dunes; guitar riffs swirl through crunching distortion like leaves in a windstorm. Looping vocals become the benevolent mantra of waves rolling against the shore, especially notable in the release’s centerpiece, “Zones” — let it wash over you.

Geiger von Müller

“Slide Sonatas II.”

“London based acoustic slide guitarist Geiger von Müller takes the listener on a trip to outer space on his new album Slide Sonatas II.. He takes it slow, conjuring images of asteroids passing by as tumbleweeds in a Western movie. His blues-based instrumentals honour the less-is-more approach of a musician who is set on discovering limitless possibilities within the space of a couple of choice notes.”

Girl Boy Moog – Hum The Beat ep

Girl Boy Moog – Hum The Beat ep
[CANDY006]

Girl Boy Moog

“Hum The Beat ep”

Here we’ve got Girl Boy Moog (a band who took its band name from the three members which is nothing but a boy, a girl and a Moog (a broken Moog that doesn’t work apparently, but nevertheless a Moog.)) and we also got their “Hum The Beat EP” which originally was released in 2001 in a limited edition.

When we asked the members of Girl Boy Moog about re-releasing their masterwork online, as an mp3-release, they said that they really wanted us to do so, cause they lost the tracks a long time ago and wanted to hear the music again themselves…

With “Hum The Beat”, Girl Boy Moog takes us on an unforgettable journey full old trains, cute girls, happy Japanese people and most of all broken Moogs.

1. MORNING EUPHORIA IN TOKYO SUBWAY
Tokyo subway is always busy and full of motion, and this morning is nothing different. But wait!
Everyone’s happy and the station is also full of Japanese people painted in green, red and bright yellow!

2. GETTING ON A TRAIN
Here our train-journey starts. Girl Boy Moog takes up their guitars and sings this song about pretty girls and happy trains. We like it!

3. SHE’S A CATFISH
This is a song about ghost houses, healthy people and communication problems over languages. Who’s a catfish? You’re a catfish? Are there any catfishes at all?? She’s a catfish!

4. ABOUT THE THINGS I HAD TO SAY
Synthesizers, funky guitars, kazoo and Girl Boy Moogs trademark basslines blends in this pretty laidback tune. And Paris is a palindrome. But is it really?

5. HUM THE BEAT
Aren’t you also sitting and humming the beat all day long? Girl Boy Moog is, be sure!

6. TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD (STRAWBERRY ICE MACHINE)
An unforgettable classic, this “Tottenham Court Road (Strawberry Ice Machine). Girl Boy Moog’s singing, “I’ve never been to London.” But we on Candy Mind have heard that the truth is that it’s not true. Apparently both the Girl and the Moog have been to London. The Boy however was forced to stay home. Someone must guard the house you know.

YAMA YUKI – Tufan

YAMA YUKI – Tufan
[IHab154]

YAMA YUKI

“Tufan”

For this work I used solely the sounds of a typhoon that I experienced over the summer. That day, I recorded what happened during the 24 hours from the arrival of the typhoon, then, I composed a track upon these materials.
The strong winds caused abrupt changes in the soundscape, hitting the surface of things outside. Rain washed over the streets, water flew rapidly, and insects seemed to respond to the surrounding noises with their singing.

This track was created as part of my study to understand how intensely humans and surrounding objects/beings are subjected to external natural forces. If you happen to be outside during a natural hazard, there is no way you can avoid being involved in it. Throughout human history, we have continuously tried to protect ourselves from the force of nature, but that is still an impossible task, and we always find ourselves vulnerable to it. In this work, I wanted to explore the theme of vulnerability of human existence within this world. Tufan means “rainstorm” or “flood’ in Turkish and it has its origin in Arabic, but similar words are found in many languages, including the Japanese “Taifu”.»

Recorded and assembled by Yama Yuki.
