about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Valance Drakes

“Not Taking This Gratitude For Granted”

This EP was entirely written and recorded in the cable kingdom of bleeps and bloops in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria during their tradition of Martenitsa. While Ivan Shopov was working on his project Kanatitsa with Avigeya, Valance Drakes was into a rookie year for Amek, working on the collab LP with Ivan and working on his debut album for the label (An Angel In Alliance With Falsehood).

“Much love goes out to my brother Ivan Shopov for the art piece, mastering and doing a remix for the project” – Valance Drakes

Slow Wave Sleep – Elogio della follia

Slow Wave Sleep – Elogia della follia

Slow Wave Sleep

“Elogio della follia”

It was a real treat for the new label administration when composer and fellow musicology graduate Slow Wave Sleep appeared out of the blue and gifted 20kbps with this beautiful song of his, which he had chiptune producers Megus and Tiasu arrange into two masterfully crafted versions. Built around a clear‑cut vocal line, sung in Italian in one of the two versions, this release is a strong example of netaudio as a melting pot for traditionally oriented composition and digital genres, producing alloys that can have intriguing properties.

Wankers United – Solo Romance

Wankers United – Solo Romance
[dhr-46]

Wankers United

“Solo Romance”

[pn157]

Rosa Angelini

“Hay una conspiracion en la tierra”

“Hay una conspiración en la tierra” (“There is a conspiracy in the land”) statement by activist Angela Davis, enlightens this reflective musical act, standing up for Mother Earth and Human Rights, through latinamerican indigenous women, people, and world activists voices, sounds and resistance. It is a journey and, at the same time, a discourse, moving across acoustic and electronic textures, samples, soundscapes, world music and soundtracks, accompanied by protest performance actions, ritual, chants and dances by Mapuche performer artist and activist Lorenza Aillapán, and Rosa Angelini.

This sound-research-creative work generated an intermedia piece, a multimedia collective mise-en-scene (Ritual), fusing sound-and-music, performance art in socially and politically symbolic public spaces, by a female cast and live music, mingling powerful speeches and songs by global feminist and environmental movements, calling up to defend Mother Earth, Human Rights and aborigin tribes.

This mise-en-scene was premiered in May 2019 at “2do encuentro internacional de trabajadoras de las culturas y las artes” (II International Meeting of Women Culture and Art Workers) opening, at Teatro Solís open area in Montevideo, Uruguay, using Live Cinema techniques and an international cast of 50 performer artists. It has also been staged in Chile, at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts) frontis, Ventana-Quintero sacrificial area, and Plaza de la Dignidad, as an opening rite for International Women’s Day, March 8, 2020.

“Hay una conspiración en la tierra” is 30 minutes long. This version is a sample of the final scene (Mother Earth ritual).

Rosa Angelini.

misaa – minoritario

misaa – minoritario
[pn156]

misaa

“minoritario”

At times, a tent appears in the hallways of a giant shopping center announcing a collective desire to elope. The times of cynicism and sitting on the beach chair, believing that nothing was going to melt from its foundations, are over.

The exercise of power is a pressure cooker, using (re)pression. Machinery requires to generate a drowning, and drown every slap made by the oppressed. It represses it with physical and economical violence, and with tons of images alluding to static structures. A majority category, a common point, to agree, but fundamentally unreachable and inaccessible in its totality. And there is a minority counterpart: poor, ugly, violeted, spectator of its own minority but immersed in the dream of being included, someday, by the majority.

But there is a third category, the one who does not want or need to continue playing the rules of a game that was created so that they would lose it. People with defective bodies, physically weak, second-level genres, depressed, shy and mutant, although they don’t stop moving. They require shaking and articulating themselves, know each other and look at each other, and so they realize that they were not so alone, and that they did not need the normality that the repressive images proposed to them. Seek the not obvious and realize yourself as a constant flow, that shakes and makes uncomfortable the status; questions, says and screams, and whose only way to be stopped completely, to be killed, is by condemning it to oblivion. Unfortunately, we have a good memory.

“minoritario” is an album that inserts us in a constant intermittency. Short rhythms and textures that draw a landscape where we are forced to be alert. The challenge of paying attention and perceiving what is around usduring a change of decade where we have the challenge of living with uncertainty every day. Musical pieces that announce the arrival of a momentthat does not stop becoming present, and in turn the challenge of facing what surrounds usto follow our constant march.

Corrado Saija – Marghera

Corrado Saija – Marghera
[Lav84]

Corrado Saija

“Marghera”

Marghera
Presentazione dell’album

Recorded on a phone in the toilets of Wales and England, with a splash of Spain, Portugal & Romania for good measure.

Mild Wild – Vol. 1

Mild Wild – Vol. 1

Mild Wild

“Vol. 1”

This music is written and recorded quickly to capture the emotion of the moment. It’s lyrics are mostly taken from stream of conciseness and short journal entries. Some sections work to tell a story while others are content to depict abstract thoughts and feelings. The songs contain themes of selfishness, youth, consumerism, relationships, pollution, drug use, duality, religion, and employment to name a few. Although it is up to the listener to take away whatever messages they hear.

The project has been a work in progress since 2018, picked up when it felt right and not forced. All 12 songs were recorded to cassette tape using a Tascam Portastudio. Guitars, and ukulele make up the majority of the instrumentation but banjo, synth, harmonica, and bells can be found throughout. In place of traditional drums found objects and small percussion have been layered and sampled to build a backing rhythm. While tracking a variety of guitar pedals were placed in line to manipulate the sounds. Nearly all of the vocal tracks have been run through a “Hall of Fame” reverb pedal and very little post production work was done. Vocal doubling and hard stereo panning aim to give the tracks a spacious and ambient feeling. Each track is different but the methods used to capture the audio give the project unity.

Mild Wild has taken it’s influences (both sonically and visually) from the writer’s experiences and upbringing, many of which are subconsciously sourced. However some artist that have directly shaped the direction of the music include The Beatles, Kool A.D., Mac Demarco, Pavement, The Kinks, Stanley Kubrick, Wes Anderson, George Orwell, Ansel Adams, and Vincent Van Gough. Although that list could be much longer with more self reflection.

Mild Wild creates music not for profit but to share a brand of creativity that is truthful. All the songs included in Vol. 1 are free to download and use however others may see fit. The music is licensed under a Attribution Creative Commons. The hope is that the sounds when set free will organically find their way into other creative places.
