Beta Draconis (β Draconis, β Dra) is the third brightest star in the northern circumpolar constellation of Draco. It has the traditional name Rastaban, which has also been used for Gamma Draconis. With an apparent visual magnitude of 2.79, it is bright enough to be easily seen with the naked eye. Based upon parallax measurements from the Hipparcos astrometry satellite, it lies at a distance of about 380 light-years (120 parsecs) from Earth.

Composer Sam Fendrich’s latest collection (his fourth for Linear Obsessional) continues in the vein of the shorter works heard on “The Unquestioned Answer”, with concise, maximal, dense structures punctuated by allusions to other genres (in this case including jazz,blues and rock) and all employing the restless imagination and mordant wit that characterises his work.

“LIFE” (terms and conditions apply) however has an added urgency – all the pieces are recent compositions, worked on in grasped moments throughout a year that has seen a significant amount of personal turmoil.

João and João have been playing together since the early nineties. First in a death metal band, then in a covers band, now in a quartet, always taking it as heavily or lightly as possible.
Jim And The Galaxy was their first incursion as a duo – then electric bass, double bass, fx and magnetic tape – when a collective of friends commissioned a piece for a special evening.
Now, probably 20 years after, the first recording of a “live at home” session (no overdubs!) is released as the corollary of the many musical experiences they’ve had throughout the years.
Plain and simple, straight to the point and laid-back.
