Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Carlos Suárez – Fin Da Terra

Carlos Suárez

“Fin Da Terra”

Carlos Suárez is, now a days, one of the most interesting musicians exploring the compositional possibilities of field recordings in Spain. His work has been widely regarded as a revelation on how to present processed field recordings as elements of a very bast and complex symphonic music system or language.

Moreover, Suárez has been able to develop something quite bold in the realm of field recordings, this is his ability to have a certain sound identity that defines his oeuvre. Through the usage of silence, textures and noise, Suárez has been able to create a very personal and creative sound world that ultimately becomes a language by itself.

After his acclaimed work “Transit Mundi” (Luscinia 2012) Suarez has been developing that very own language, following that premise, a month ago Exp_Net released “O Tempo Do Desengano” which explored similar accents and phrases such as the ones found on this album but reversing the sound sources. In the album at Exp_Net Suarez focuses on the us e of a modular synth (Doepfer A-100) and here, with Fin Da Terra, Suárez tries to do the opposite, to work mainly with field recordings and just a bit of analogue synthesis.

Fin da Terra is a compositional exploration of sounds gathered in costal areas, beaches, breakwaters and different locations in the Atlantic galician coast, where Suárez currently lives. What’s interesting of this piece is the usage of those recordings and how they have been moulded to become “voices” at the service of Suárez sound language.

Also, Fin Da Terra uses field recordings as a canvas, a surface where to play different experiments and combinations. The soundscapes are relegated and become background to the sonic accents that define Carlos Suárez oeuvre, even, he allows himself to add, here and there, elements such as a modular synthesizer that appears hidden but present if we carefully listen as a reminder of his previous work on Exp_Net.

The overall conclusion is that Fin Da Terra cannot be understood if not listened after “Transit Mundi” and “O Tempo Do Desengano”, all of it form a consequent evolution and exemplification of creative process.

Adduce

“ADD+”

With the first bars the journey begins and the discreet sound approaches the razor’s edge. The cut is surgical and manages to draw a clean line in the epidermis. From there the strikes go bouncing from one hemisphere to another.

Adduce are not two disassociated brains, but four functioning as a trio. The equilateral triangle between three hard drives with faces, eyes and beards. I have seen them live several times and always consider the difficulty of achieving this level of performance, so absorbed, not by the act of entering the required tempo or playing a certain note, but rather by the unfolding developments that create this conversation that you don’t ever want to end, and which in reality doesn’t ever end, because this inconclusive construction always remains ringing in eternal evolution.

Here is the path that gives meaning to the journey, not the destination, which in the case of Adduce may be many.

The form opens itself and shows us the tracks of a geometric and organic puzzle, sometimes disturbing and other times suggestive, but always an invitation to stroll along the ledge of the highest tower, from where only silhouettes distinguish themselves on the horizon, but which allows the widest panoramas.

ADD+ has no era nor time nor place: it floats in the weightless space of two brains, which I insist seem like four!

ADD+ is a gem that can help us to daydream or to imagine a new kind of retrofuturistic science fiction. The imagination of power!

“We Are Forever”

“Dawn breaks up behind the eyes, where sun doesn’t shine”. We Are Forever goes out to all those emotive experiences that let us dream, that went deep into ourselves and that we’ll never forget. Things that we want to keep close or need to get rid of in order to escape from ourselves. A caress. A consciusness. A drop of eternity lost beneath our souls. Sebastian Love’s 4th ep.

Various Artists – Explorations in Dub
DPH010

Various Artists

“Explorations in Dub”

The first compilation of dub-o-phonic is a musical journey to some unknown areas of dub music. Compiled by Dub Thomas, “Explorations in Dub” tries to find the hidden elements of dub music in musical genres, where under normal circumstances no dub is existent. This release might not comply with the “conventional” dub reggae as we know it. Being the tenth release of the label, Dub Thomas selects tracks with a strong experimental musical vibe, staying truthful to the future sound of the label.

The compilation includes seventeen tracks from artists scattered in the various corners of the globe, from Cyprus to the French West Indies: Daidalos One (CY), SXtheMadArtist (CY), Ras Robin Dennis (CY), Dub-I (RUS), Dub Riots (GR), Green Glow (MEX), Hernibernie (BEL), Knoto (JP), Mr Mefistou (PR), Negro Pirana (MEX), Rakoon (FR), Red Barrio (ES), Roots Dubbing Project (BRA), The Dubbstyle (ARG), Twixymillia (FWI) and Dub Across Borders (DEN).

Included in this compilation is Dub-I’s “Rididub Master” in a new extended version, serving not only as a musical flashback to our first release, but also as a starting point for the dubs to follow, while the jazz/ambient tracks of Hernibernie and SXtheMadArtist (the cover art designer of the release) are perhaps at the highest innovation point. Knoto manages to strip a famous reggae song down to its basic beat elements keeping the melody as a sweet buzz in your head. Daidalos One offers an atmospheric intermission, Ras Robbin Denis fuses an ethnic/ambient feel, Dub Across Borders blips and clicks, Negro Pirana dubs the blues, Mr Mefistou builds up slowly a dubbed step, Green Glow steps it up, Twixymillia rewinds it, while Dub Riots, Roots Dubbing Project, The Dubbstyle, Rakoon and Red Barrio transform irie melodies into experimental dubscapes.

“Dub means experimentation with sound. From the first innovations of King Tubby to the unorthodox techniques of Lee “scratch” Perry, dub has always been evolving, influencing many of the musical genres of our century, whether these are called Hip-Hop, Electronica, Fusion or even World/Ethnic music. This is a journey into the world of dub!” – Dub Thomas

Vegas Diamond – Hyper

Vegas Diamond – Hyper
TWG011

Vegas Diamond

“Hyper”

Trance-inducing and as thick as sludge, Vegas Diamond’s sophomore is a concise record of his great talent. These four tracks meld together aggressive groove with hypnotic melodies, tessellating around a defiant rhythm and pulsating with confident and a unique voice. From the emotive opener ‘Ion’, to the off-kilter and crunchy churn of ‘Visor’, to the vicious beats of ‘Real’ and the final, melancholic laments of ‘Cube’, every inch of ‘Hyper’ feels, simultaneously, eclectically self-contained and continuously conceptual; a constantly evolving stream of ideas.

Stylistically, ‘Hyper’ sees Vegas Diamond traversing the musical ideas of Monodeer and Nullsleep, and setting up shop somewhere in the middle. The melodies are genuinely otherworldly; atmospheric and seeping emotion, cascading over the dense textures that make the release sound so huge, and the beats hit like sledgehammers on concrete, loose but still incredibly strong.

“The city without sun”

“The City Without Sun” is a concept album of instrumental electronic music. An ideal soundtrack for the kid’s novel by Michel Grimaud ‘La ville sans soleil’. A French novel of the 70s, which in the post ’68 era, tell us about of a group of teenager activists against the pollution of their ‘city without sun’ by an unscrupulous local squire.A book that still has not lost his, though simplistic, message of rebellion and hope. A book to be known, to be implemented, to not forget.

“Lightworkers Are Us”

“There is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the light that shines in your heart” (Chandogya Upanishad)

“Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the universe comes, to which everything in the universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home”.

it will also brighten your path”.

Jennifer Paulos

“Revolution”

After the United Kingdom and France, perhaps the most promising rising force of the Reggae & Dub scene in the European world of vibes is Spain. One of the most talented new artists is without doubt Jennifer Paulos and it is really a pleasure to present her latest work on our netlabel.

Born in Ponferrada, Spain, the Hispano-Swiss-Portuguese artist has started releasing her first works back in 2010 with Hide Side on “Corrupzion in Zion” (2010) and since then she is moving only forwards. The collaborations with the local Spanish artist Dub Presidents, who produced her first album “The trial of the Self” (2010), as well as with Mystic Selectah (2012) from Madrid, were the starting point in her musical path. It was only a matter of time she would accomplish her international breakthrough through her collaborations with Izi Dub (FR) and Hi Fi Champion (CAN) in 2013.

Her first work on Dubophonic is called “Revolution” and consists of nine tracks of pure consciousness, among them a version of a classic Tappa Zukie tune. Sang in Spanish and English, she uses her warm voice as a trademark of her Mediterranean oriented sound spreading to all listeners the funky vibes of her soul. Alongside with her you can find some exclusive dubs by the Dub Presidents (ES), Svaha Sound System (UK), Mat DT Sound (FR) / Woody Vibes (FR) / Cloud of Vib’s (FR) & Mystic Selectah (SP), as well as a special bonus track by Dave Doma (ES). We say no more, just enjoy the vibes of Jennifer’s music and feel the consciousness of her lyrics.

“Vacation”

We think techno is back on Gargan Records with this release. On his last few releases “Tky” produced mostly the deeper sounds. Now on the latest release “Vacation” he goes in towards to the stable gait. Dominant rhythms, soft synthesizer pads and numerous changes of mood create the perfect mix of techno beats and extravagant sound-collages.

“Air Buttons”

Air Buttons” is an album of improvisations for melodeon and electronics. Download includes a PDF booklet of notes and images.

Richard Sanderson- Melodeon, Footpedals ElectronIcs, Wind-Up Gramophone,
Contact Microphone, Field Recordings.

These pieces were recorded at home in Hither Green, usually on Friday afternoons when the housework was done and before the kids came back from school. As with my previous album of melodeon improvisations the instrument was recorded in three different ways â using footpedals (wah, distortion and pitch change), pushing it through contraptions made with Audiomulch software on my laptop, or augmenting it with other sounds â in this case, field recordings and a wind-up gramophone. The gramophone was recorded with a contact microphone (made by Jez Riley French) attached to the needle, or to a toothbrush. âAbove The Breakersâ was played on pre-WW1 one-row melodeon, all the others were played on a D/G Hohner Pokerwork. The title of âFlim Flamingoâ was suggested by Gary Widdowfield.. âVelux Dopplerâ was created from two field recordings- one of Beckenham Parish Church Bells, the other of the rain falling on the roof window of my bedroom. The field recordings on âShadeâ were made in my garden. The tracks were recorded 2011-13 and assembled November 2013. Thank you for listening.

DUBKEY014

Jah Rootikal Steppers

“Jah Rootikal Steppers”

This is Dubkey’s first steppers album by a UK artist. ‘Jah Rootikal Steppers’ it says on the tin, and that’s exactly what you get! Rasta-inspired heavy roots steppers, dubbed the way they should be!

As is the case with all steppers releases, the metronomic bass drum is king here. The bass is loud, and the melodica is present on most of the tracks. Other highlights include great percussion sounds, sirens, sick electronic effects, and a peculiar trombone!

‘Jah Rootikal Steppers’ features nuff innovative ideas but it also pays homage to the 70s originators of dub. Playback on huge bass bins is highly recommended.
