about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

FJRicharts – Anders Als Alle

[CML016]

FJRicharts

“Anders Als Alle”

While listening to debute album “Anders als alle” by Germany’s FJRicharts, one could rightfully assume it being a study of the relationship between movement and stillness. I’d like to advance the idea that Florian’s music is never either of the two : in its most desolate, cold state emerges immense thrust and motion and, in other more active moments, you feel time coming to a stop. He plays within these parameters with grace and sobriety, resulting in a brooding epic that will justly accompany your spring cloudwatching.

Ars Sonor & Co. – The End of a Road

Ars Sonor & Co. – The End of a Road
[ER084]

Ars Sonor & Co.

“The End of a Road [l1mbo central]”

Once again here at Effluvia comes a release so profound, with so many hearts and minds involved that one cannot help but take a moment to reflect on how truly profound the world of artists can be. It amazes me that this album got made, and the artist behind it should be given more praise than she already deserves for simply being as prolific as she is, given her other life circumstances. Laetitia Schteinberg, the mastermind behind the hyperactive output of Ars Sonor (and iky iky) astounds me with her existence, tortured and brilliant, cathartic and emotional, simply speaking with her is a very immense experience. In times of great woe, she miraculously creates release upon release whose substance is so complex and savory, horrifying and uplifting, exasperating or unnerving, nightmarish or blissful, always so thoughtful and necessary with deliberate intent, all captured perfectly by brilliant mastering and layering of marvelous synth sounds ebbing and flowing with brilliant percussion and deep, eerie ambiance. These components transcend their own nature and become something very ethereal. With this release, there is an extra dimension mixed in that differs from her solo work, but that is not to take away from their respective strength. The extra dimension is the minds of 17 different artists! This is not the first time Ars Sonor has been joined by the company of various musicians she collaborates with on other records, but this is my favorite thus far (truly this is a work of genius). Clocking in at almost an hour at length, this behemoth of dark ambiance and dreamscape industrial brings to thought a very large and epic notion about what this community of artists has created. On netlabels and throughout the world of innovative free music, there is a beautiful collection of friendships through art. Countless records created, to the point of being overwhelming, all spread to other likeminded musicians so that they may be in a dialogue transcendent of simple words like these. As these artists perceive their respective worlds, interpret them through manipulating vibrations, and then articulate this to other artists, evoking anxiety or glee in their hearts, the body that is the sum of these separate, human components witness the world, interprets them through the brain, and then shares it with the rest of the body, evoking actions and decisions and will and vocalization! The brain here is Ars Sonor, and just like the cells of your body are mindlessly and blindly grateful to create you and you are mindlessly and blindly grateful to have been created by the earth, I know for a fact that all the artists that equal this celestial body are grateful to be a part of Laetitia’s masterworks, or to even know her at large, and they all wish the best for her in these times of distress. My heart prays that this is not the end of Ars Sonor’s road, and I want to thank all those who helped make this pathway, this organism, possible. Thank you Sean derrick Cooper Marquardt, Thank you M.Nomized. Thank you William Spivey. Thank you The Implicit Order. Thank you Elizabeth Veldon. Thank you Igor Har. Thank you Mutate. Thank you Peninsolar. Thank you noiseoftherose. thank you Randy Carter. Thank you Brownian Motion. Thank you 3bc. Thank you Bob Bucko Jr. Thank you Otolathe. Thank you Ronny Waerns. Thank you Dan Minoza. Thank you hyaena fierling reich. Thanks to all who listen, and please do.

SOSTANZE RECORDS

“Dont Believe The Hype PT. 2”

On the eve of the second b-day of the label and following the success of the release Don’t believe the hype (part 1) (platinum record with over 40.000 downloads on the web), Sostanze Records’ mavericks are back with their usual energy and the maturity reached thanks to the experience on stage at national and international events to which the artists of the netlabel have attented during the last times. Maturity that has made precious a background already peculiar, finally allowing them to be on the spotlight of the media and rewarding the ambitious project aimed at spreading a musical culture where it is not compulsory to pay for listening to high quality beats. The compilation offered is a mix of electro, dubstep and drum’n’bass, ready to burn your stereos and give you the right music for a night among friends, through the different approaches to the electronic music proposed by the several artists, each of them with his unmistakable style. The Additive opens the atmosphere with its Sentient Beings, then follow NeZoomie with its Heavy Phat Gun, the show-man showman Bebop with its Scuola Benassi and the revelation Flux with its Fresh meat to eat. The most famous dubstep/drum’n’bass duo of the netlabel IlKobra e Red-.-box with Pissing to the bass and the BrokenSpud’s absolute bomb The Day Will Come close the loop. Don’t believe the hype.

Kebiin – Lonely Return From Nowhere

Kebiin – Lonely Return From Nowhere
[rwclass004]

Kebiin

“Lonely Return From Nowhere”

“Lonely voyage to nowhere” was our 3th release in Rawmatroid Class sublabel, an album produced by Kebiin that brought us to far atmospheres and places. An experimental trip in search of sounds and textures that say goodbye with “Bleeding Tears“, leaving the sensation of “to be continued?” in the air.

“Lonely return from nowhere” is the return from that sensorial trip through sounds, a reinterpretation by Kebiin of his own work where the producer adds new ideas and experiences going back retracing his own steps in the returning way. The sparkles of light, the darkness, the strange and the beautiful are mixed in Kebiin language in this 4th reference of Rawmatroid Class.

trans alp

“e blô kend”

Those pieces have been written for a performing arts event that can be considered to be a contemporary counterpart to a pagan ritual. It took place in september 2008 at the power station Klingenberg near Rummelsburger Bucht (Berlin, Germany) and is based on an idea and concept by Daniela Muschter.

According to this, the musical side embodies an attempt to reinvent germanic sound asthetics with modern media. The pieces represent ›mankind‹, ›nature‹ and ›spirit‹ and various kinds of dialogue between them.

hrtspltn – Intracranial Tales

hrtspltn – Intracranial Tales
[PLANET036]

hrtspltn

“Intracranial Tales”

htrspltn is the moniker of Siberian avant-garde producer Ivan Zhurovich, who first got in touch through the humble avenue of a demo submission to Planet Terror a few months back. htrspltn has had a number of releases on Macedonian label Filter, who accurately point out that the only rule that applies is “expect the unexpected”.

Despite its short running time, Intracranial Tales is an incredibly dense experience. Layer upon layer is built up to create a series of atmospheric electronica tracks with a very individual charm. Well worth a listen if you like your electronics downbeat and experimental.

T.BIRD – Arma Factory
[NN_LP014_05_12]

T.BIRD

“Arma Factory”

T. Bird (from “The Talking Bird”, the name of parrot-shaped 8bit toy sampler) came into being in 1996 at Moscow as a solo project of experimental musician and sound producer Victor “Mutant” Shevtsov (ex-Dolphin). Transformation into a full band happened at the end of the ‘00s. In 2009 bassist Ivan “Kester” Lebedev (ex-member and founder of cult Russian psychedelic bands Alien Pat. Holman and Dubovy Gaaj) and drummer “Plastic Monkey” joined Victor. Once being formed, the band began performing live improvisation sessions at “T-34 base” at the Arma Factory. Synthesis of space-electronic sound and a massive rhythm section creates a special musical hybrid, which can be called krautronic” or “urban raga”. In August 2011 the band played at the main stage of Klangbad Festival under the invitation of Jochen Irmler from Faust.

Tardiss – Mold and Moisture

Tardiss – Mold and Moisture
[NS049]

Tardiss

“Mold and Moisture”

Mold and Moisture, the fourth release by Tardiss on No-Source Netlabel is a trip back in time. These nine tracks make up a collection of early works recorded between 2002 and 2004. What we see here is the beginnings of a sound that Tardiss has gone on to shape into their definitive style. It is a decidedly more electronic and experimental album than the previous Tardiss records. There are still those nostalgia tendencies that peak from time to time. The album kicks off with “The Sandbox”. Samples of waves wash into IDM beats and sparse melodies. “Mid Lake Left”, recalls the track title Left Side Drive by Boards of Canada. Mid Lake Left was recorded a year or two before the Boards of Canada track and delivers more of an early Squarepusher vibe. “Harmonic Mist Figure” is a beautiful two minutes of haunting, beat-less ambient music. “Smoothie’s Loop”, though a bit more spastic, uses some modern Tardiss compositional techniques. “Pneumonia, I Own Ya” has a more of a lounge vibe, recalling Irresistible Force (one of Mix Master Morris’ aliases). The album closes with “Come Get It”, a twelve minute electronic, lounge rock freakout. This description makes sense when you get to the epic synth solo at six minutes in. Over the years, these early works have held up. The lo-fi attitude just makes them feel even more like a musty photograph collecting mold and moisture.
