about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Jazzaria – 1.8125

Jazzaria

“1.8125”

Precise and detailed calculations can be unnerving – unerringly uncanny results we know are right, yet feel are somehow off. The universe is parsimonious, and so we expect pithy causes and succinct structures. But information has layers – apparent complexity underlies organization that our intuitions may miss.

This 29/16 track features synthesizers, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, piano, and effects.

Jazzaria – Forgotten Creation

Jazzaria

“Forgotten Creation”

An idea – original, inspired, unexpected. Surely something that would be remembered and celebrated, if it were executed on. But instead it stays in the land of thoughts, pure and untested, and soon forgotten.

Featuring synthesizers, drum machines, electric bass, and guitar.

Jazzaria – Convivial Eve

Jazzaria

“Convivial Eve”

Liminal in time and space,
In between a social place –
This is where the eve of Eves occurs.

Civilly inept? Not quite –
But inclined to times of night
When all is quiet save that which reverbs.

Yet when it has a gentle frame,
When those involved can feel the same,
Convivial events can be enjoyed.

Consider those who feel as one,
Separate for many suns –
Reuniting fills a certain void.

Featuring improvised clarinet.

Jazzaria – Korobeiniki

Jazzaria

“Korobeiniki”

In a world where everything inexorably descends, futility pervades. Despite going down, detritus piles up, leaving two possible outcomes – it messily agglomerates beyond the point of practicality and causes the end, or it fits together just so. But instead of forming a precise and solid structure, at the moment where it is needed most, it simply disappears.

Featuring electric keys, ethnic percussion, synthesizers, strings, balalaika, and effects.

Jazzaria – Quadratic Waldo

Jazzaria

“Quadratic Waldo”

Not all those who are lost wander – the Waldos of the world are indelibly located, yet uncertain nonetheless. Considering their predicament, confusion ensues, growing at a self-speeding rate. Beyond a certain point, quadratic challenges prove insurmountable, and we are forced to accept the incomplete.

Featuring synthesizers, drum machines, strings, arpeggiators, and effects.

Jazzaria – Making Up Your Mind

Jazzaria – Making Up Your Mind

Jazzaria

“Making Up Your Mind”

What are we if not the accumulation of our decisions? Illusory though it may be, our will is our being, and our choices become our identity. Take care when making up your mind, as making things up is sometimes all too easy.

Featuring dreamy electric guitar, 808 drum machine, synthesizers, sequencer, pads, voice samples, and effects.

Jazzaria – Aural Remnants

Jazzaria – Aural Remnants

Jazzaria

“Aural Remnants”

After light – shadow. After sound – echo.

And as shadow is not simply darkness, echoes are not simply reflections. Cyclical feedback leads to further reverberations, resonating in ways that go beyond a reflection of their origin.

Featuring timpani, orchestra, organ, piano, reverb, and effects.

Jazzaria – Quietly Held On To Their Confusion

Jazzaria – Quietly Held On To Their Confusion

Jazzaria

“Quietly Held On To Their Confusion”

Professionals, like well-to-do neighbors, must keep up appearances. Appearing to know what you are doing is perhaps even more important than appearing productive. This makes asking questions difficult – and so many times, people quietly hold on to their confusion.

Featuring synthesizers, sequencers, FM piano, drum machine, trumpet, and female voice singing “oocht.”

Jazzaria – Line Without A Correlate

Jazzaria

“Line Without A Correlate”

A rebel without a cause. A fish out of water. A book without a cover. A horse with no name.

A ship without a captain. A bird without wings. A needle without a thread. A guitar without strings.

Featuring voice (air traffic control), orchestra (strings, woodwind, percussion), Solovox organ, alto sax, 808 drums, upright bass, shaker, and synthesizers.
