about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Klaus Marten – September

Klaus Marten

“September”

This is a mini-LP of mine from a couple years ago called September. As I listen now, what strikes me about this song is the dreamy, woozy quality of the shoegaze-esque songs present on this collection. In my opinion, the ubiquitous nature of these textures (broken up by a couple of harder-edged tracks so not to cross the line into monotony) makes for a consistent and singular listening experience, from which many ideas and themes can be inferred.

Klaus Marten – Satiety

Klaus Marten

“Satiety”

This album of mine, Satiety, I think is really good for two reasons: 1, each track to me is really great at capturing and even painting a certain mood. Each track is its own world. And yet, it is also incredibly cohesive considering that, as the whole thing seems to combine to form a singular statement, whatever that may be. The largely abstract and open nature of my instrumentals allows the listener to draw his or her own conclusions.

Klaus Marten – Take Me With You

Klaus Marten

“Take Me With You”

Klaus Marten was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York, where he spends his days working, hanging out with friends, buying records, and making music on his laptop. The varied influences of My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Brian Wilson, Animal Collective, The Ventures, The Beatles, Sonic Youth, Deerhunter, and Japancakes (among others) provide a basis for his guitar-based music, which combines shoegaze, rock, surf, country, general experimentation, and other muddled-together genres into broad-ranging tracks as simple as solo guitar works and as complex as lush dream-pop soundscapes…and everything in between.

Klaus Marten – Master Tape

Klaus Marten

“Master Tape”

Hi, my name is Klaus Marten, I am based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY, and I would love it if you could check out my latest release, Master Tape, which is available here: https://klausmarten.bandcamp.com/album/master-tape. My music I guess could be described as generally experimental, shoegaze-leaning, but mostly guitar-based and often laden in reverb. I think my music is something different: it is oftentimes abstract, in a way that gets your attention, but also in a way that allows you to apply your own meaning to it. I have heard some really interesting interpretations of my stuff in other reviews, and would be fascinated to have your take on it as well. I would hugely appreciate it if you could take the time to listen, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks,
Klaus

“Computer Habitat””

“The digit ZERO appeared in the center of the screen… Then other digits, such as 1,2,3,4,5… floated to the center from different sides, creating waves… Then the waves became liquid. These waves of digits had the ability to create any form, but they didn’t know what forms to become… Finally they started to produce their own structures… It was my dream the first time I heard this album!” – InSpectr

Secrets Of The 45 – Lappers At The Rim

UPL 058

Secrets Of The 45

“Lappers At The Rim”

SOT45 presents a collection of previously unpublished recordings, gathered throughout the 10 years of the project’s existence.Starting off with 3 early found sound constructions, ritualistic in their abrasiveness, the album then progresses to a minimalist deconstruction of a choir loop, slowly reducing it to a set of drones. It is then followed by two tracks from a discarded Momolot remix album – two approaches to rock music deconstruction – one busy and whirring, the second one blurry and dreamy. “Wintery Russia” is an ambient piece made out of a mangled cassette tape with accordion melodies. The set is concluded by an experiment in chance operations on a set of found sound samples, consitituting a disconcerting bouncy collage adventure.

Secrets Of The 45 – Verdant Peal

UPL 053

Secrets Of The 45

“Verdant Peal”

“Verdant Peal”, 12th album by Secrets Of The 45 utilizes field recordings collected over two summers to create a set of summer-inspired soundscapes. Ambient, drone, noise, collage, tape music with hints of musique concrete join forces to create a diverse jungle of hazy, sweaty sonic paintings.

Birds in a forest, suburbian lawnmowers, children’s voices, murky tape experiments, children’s toys, distant conversations, prepared vocals emerging and collapsing from the sticky dark, with snippets of musical instruments – tribal drumming or swirling guitars – are sampled, looped and combined to create an effect of dense, disorienting heat much like a confusing dream during a nap in tall grass in the middle of a July day.

“Uninterested Mixtape”

Louisiana-born producer Brandon Goree marries meticulous drum work with artful blends
of synths and samples. He delivers a sound that is rooted in hip-hop, but fearless in its
experimentation. Goree’s works are the children of an obsessive work-ethic. The art
shadows his soul.
