Mastermind behind the veteran neoclassic dark ambient project Day Before Us is back on Mahorka with a new solo album whose conceptual background explores unsettling “liminal spaces”, paramnesia and flowing affective memories. In this new release Philippe Blache teamed up with photographer and visual story teller objet-fantôme (Angela Caro). Liminal spaces are often marked with a sense of wander and vertigonous wonder to apprehend parapsychology and new possibilities of meaning with a subject trapped in unusual mental structures. The atmosphere of the pieces is based on meandering immersive textures and thrilling tones of high emotional value, depicting with sonorous analogies some imaginary territories, diving the listener in profound headscapes. All in all this new effort is a beautifully instrumental and carefully crafted musical excursion in melancholia and repetition. It is delivered in a nice package as limited physical edition (beautiful digisleeve CD), accompanied by the free (cc) digital version.
