about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Palm Era – Gimo

Palm Era

“Gimo”

Palm Era – Gimo

Palm_Era (Claudio Cisterna) is a chilean producer from Santiago. A long-standing electronic music producer, he had been publishing under the netlabel Impar and the record label U-Cover from Belgium under the alias Flipper, a project that is closer to IDM. Later under the alias ‘Chiodata’, he immerses himself more into the experimental side of music and releases some of his works under the Irish record label Fort Evil Fruits and Cocodriller. He has also developed other projects such as ‘Jon Claudio’, a fusion between electronic music and Krautrock. Palm_Era released his album called ‘Coincidental’ under the record label Illuminated Paths from Florida, USA in 2015. He has also collaborated in compilations that have been released by the netlabel Modismo and netlabel Epasonidos. These days, he is presenting ‘Gimo’, his first publication under Modismo which travels between diverse rhythms built with complex and yet innovative structures. ‘Gimo’ essentially takes us into a profound and flavorful trip where basslines and synths that are analogically worked combine. In this work, Palm_Era reveals his good taste and skills. The way to approach percussion in this record excels due to its production duty and Latino sense. Samples lead to a trance that is hard to get rid of and melodies gleams at the right time, as well as the details in experimentation. All this results in a very refreshing and futuristic album that will stand out in time without a doubt.

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on”
A Quote from Shakespeare’s The Tempest inspired me to see how relevant the story is against todays lives and politics? Little has changed, people are still seeking revenge or power, but hopefully like in the story love for each other will eventually win the day. A dream perhaps but a nice one to think that eventually we will put our differences behind us and start to trust and teach other.

For Example John – The first 12 Decades

For Example John – The first 12 Decades
[Wuerfel 21]

For Example John

“The first 12 Decades”

David Evan Krebs – Tides

David Evan Krebs – Tides
[CAEX0005]

David Evan Krebs

“Tides”

This is music for sound explorers who want to explore the canyons of sound but keep near the touchstone of melody. David Alan Krebs’ “Tides” discovers gently evolving drone sounds and, in particular, the textures within sound variations. Each track feels like a visit to a garden of diverse Baja California—each piece is distinct, solitary, spiky in its own way, and pleasantly alien. The pieces range from less than a minute to a few minutes each. The listener is pulled into a single musical in each track, which is investigated thoroughly and dispassionately. Listening is a pleasure rather than a laboratory explosion. Every piece presents the listener with its own bit of sonic intrigue. This is music that is clinical in its experiments while retaining its humanity. The artist eschews beats, time-signature-melodies, and pat ambient themes. Instead, pieces like “Draping Slowly” and “Crevices” contain music which neither panders to nor pulverizes the listener. No two pieces are faintly alike, but all the pieces fit well together. In “Cloud Base (Stage Two)” the drone hovers in that angelic space between the familiar and the strange, where the insights feel within grasp but the conclusions are wordless. The dozen tracks which make up “Tides” are ideal listening for an Autumn day, or an autumnal mood. David Alan Krebs takes us on a journey, and we are delighted to hike along.

C. Reider – Listening After the End

C. Reider – Listening After the End

C. Reider

“Listening After the End”

“Listening After the End is a study of one’s immediate environment, of the resonant potential of what surrounds us. A frozen stream. A passing train. A ceiling fan. The wind. A cat plays; someone sneezes; an autoharp lets out a long hum. These vignettes–textural, spacious, and sonorous–are wonderfully evocative pieces that, when taken as a whole, form a vibrant sonic life, one that revels in the animus to be found in even the subtlest of things.”

Viktor Van River – Triumph Of Unconscious

Viktor Van River – Triumph Of Unconscious
[BSOG0073]

Viktor Van River

“Triumph Of Unconscious”

Today we welcome a great new addition to our humble little label… Viktor Van River. Fans of the terrific Bulgarian label Dusted Wax Kingdom will likely know the name and are probably already fans. With his debut full-length album, Viktor wanted to expand his sound a bit beyond the sound that Dusted Wax focuses on, so he followed in the footsteps of his buddy, Cutside, and came to blocSonic.

Ten songs deep, Triumph of Unconscious is a tightly focused album with a big sound. With the global political landscape and upheaval (especially that which we’re seeing happen in the US and UK), it’s no surprise that there are political themes running throughout.

Extra huge shout out to Viktor for being a part of what we do here. Welcome to the blocSonic fam!

Llankru – Llankru

Llankru – Llankru
[djummi.007]

Llankru

“Llankru”

The magic of the basics

A music: very simple, as present and obvious as the happening round us. Its sounds: Elements in space, which fly apart in uniform motion, without resistance and get together again.

Llankrú masters the vanishing till the dispersal. Just as its opposite: The bang, with which all wants to expand into space from the center with force. In doing so time is relative. And therefore their im- and explosions happen in seemingly endless calm.

The instruments sound like they sound. A guitar, a second, guitar, a bass and a drum set. The musicians have freed sound and arrangement from all the superfluity and potential masquerade. But intuitively, not wilfully. The single sin is the glowing overdrive sometimes. But to this one the blessing was given already.

With all this „Sturz durch Raum und Zeit Richtung Unendlichkeit“ (C. Karges) Llankrú’s songs relate wonderfully. They could be the six episodes of a film, which may work stand-alone, but forge a bridge of a whole narration together.

The narrative power rises with the reduction. That’s the magic of the basics. Everything runs to a point, slowly the sum of the parts emerges and condenses more and more. And than suddenly: Nothing.

Daniel Robert Lahey – No Cure For Music

Daniel Robert Lahey – No Cure For Music
[CACL0007]

Daniel Robert Lahey

“No Cure For Music”

Daniel Robert Lahey wields the tools of a trained classical musician in pursuit of ambient music with direct and fresh (but never simple) melodic charms. Each of his pieces bears a symphonic influence, but each piece aims to provide the listener a listening experience of intriguing sound-on-sound. Rather than the sunny sleepwalk of new-age-style waves of saccharine melody, Lahey weaves complex themes throughout each composition.

This is not music for everyone—but it is music for anyone. In “No Cure”, Daniel Robert Lahey takes the listener in for a digital scan, and the diagnosis is positive for sound. This is sound to take the indolence of an idle hour and turn it into the therapy of intriguing sonic exploration.

The Line of Apollo – The Line of Apollo (EP)

The Line of Apollo – The Line of Apollo (EP)
[BM08R17]

The Line of Apollo

“The Line of Apollo (EP)”

The Line of Apollo was founded by two friends (former classmates) in 2014. in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, in the Russian Federation. Later, they were joined by two more participants.
The band members have played together since 2007, from school times, but the previous project broke up and a revived The Line of Apollo appeared from its ashes. The name was created as a derivative of the past band name (Underline The Sunday). The Line of Apollo also means “The Sun Line”. This line is on the palm of a man and symbolizes the creative beginning.
Initially, the band’s music was based on the youthful hobbies of the band by American alternative, pop-punk and punk bands such as Blink-182, Yellowcard, Sum-41, etc. Becoming older, the collective began to choose a heavier and atmospheric direction under the influence of already modern genres, like such as post-rock, post-hardcore, melodic-hardcore, etc. Although the vocal performance remained clear.

Luca Calcagno – La Pioggia Rinfresca L’Estate
[IYE23]

Luca Calcagno

Luca Calcagno is a musician in Cogoleto, the province of the Empire, who grew up in bread, music and Genoa. Mostly self-taught, he lives in music, in the sense that he works in a musical instrument store. He is a person like us all, surely with a talent above the average, and you will hear them listening to these songs that are part of the singles. Indie Pop nineties but also much more, through the tradition especially British, but with a strong Italian melody. There are many things in these two songs, those of you a little older will certainly remember the Italian things in the nineties, and it’s where they come from. Luca writes and plays with care, and all this can be heard in his music. Publish this single is for us an honor.
If you meet him do not ever give him a question about who you prefer between Beatles and Rolling Stone. The answer is obvious.
