about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Various Artists – Sucusauce Vol. 1

SCM-1408

Various Artists

“Sucusauce Vol. 1”

Sucusauce Vol. 01 celebrates the first birthday of Sucumusic netlabel with a selection of tracks taken from some of the releases by all the bands and artists on its roster.
It is a companion to the Podcast of the same title and intention, featuring the same artists with a different selection of tracks.

In the sampler we go from the pared-down, stripped-down electronics of Art Electronix to the guitar antics of Claudio Quartarone, the idm of Tkns and soundscapes of guitar maestros Gaetano Fontanazza, Cousin Silas and Stephen Briggs, not to forget the improvised musical chasms of Purple Mountain Peal.
A sampler to celebrate but also a door to enter for whoever has stayed on the outside so far. An invitation to come in and discover the, let us say it, musical wonderland that Sucumusic is.

Have a good listening and don’t forget to download the accompanying Podcast, too.

“partial plug e.p”

Tetarise

“HeadDown Jam”

Tetarise returns! After a break of several months since his first release on Kahvi, Tetarise returns with another fantastic five track ep entitled ‘HeadDown Jam’, this time in a more complex psy-chilled style.

The epic feel of the tracks is still apparent, with the addition of guitar in a couple of the tracks. Think of this ep as a cross between Solar Fields and Boards of Canada and you’ll get an idea of how good it is.

Definately an addition to your permanent playlist, tracks of choice for this avid Tetarise fan are Lucid Dream and Red Yellow Green. They just get better and better! Enjoy this autumn EP from Tetarise.

Shavina – Libertine

ZIMMER112

Shavina

“Libertine”

A libertine is one devoid of most moral restraints, which are seen as unnecessary or undesirable, especially one who ignores or even spurns accepted morals and forms of behaviour sanctified by the larger society. Libertines put value on physical pleasures, meaning those experienced through the senses. As a philosophy, libertinism gained new-found adherents in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, particularly in France and Great Britain. Notable among these were John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester, and the Marquis de Sade.

The word “Libertine” was originally coined by John Calvin to negatively describe opponents of his policies in Geneva, Switzerland. This group, led by Ami Perrin, argued against Calvin’s “insistence that church discipline should be enforced uniformly against all members of Genevan society”. Perrin and his allies were elected to the town council in 1548, and “broadened their support base in Geneva by stirring up resentment among the older inhabitants against the increasing number of religious refugees who were fleeing France in even greater numbers”. By 1555, Calvinists were firmly in place on the Genevan town council, so the Libertines, led by Perrin, responded with an “attempted coup against the government and called for the massacre of the French. This was the last great political challenge Calvin had to face in Geneva”. Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand wrote that Joseph Bonaparte “sought only life’s pleasures and easy access to libertinism” while on the throne of Naples.

Akane Hosaka – Loop Music

Akane Hosaka

“Loop Music”

Wrieuw is thrilled to release a collection of loop music by the wonderful Akane Hosaka. After 4 albums of gleeful, quirky electronica Akane dives headlong into experimental territory whilst maintaining the sound that is uniquely hers, using a Korg MS-20 Mini and a loop pedal. Akane has regularly been posting the results of these experimentations to here soundcloud page, and she has kindly collected together an EP of these for Wriuew. To my mind in places it sounds like a lost soundtrack to an Oliver Postgate program, either way, experimental music doesn’t get cuter than this, bleeps, bloops and joyful melodies abound. Wrieuw loves releasing music it loves and we have been fans of Akane for a very long time, we hope you enjoy this collection as much as we do.

Kai Engel – Paradigm Lost

[SCL145]

Kai Engel

“Paradigm Lost”

Try as you like, it’s doubtful that you can avoid something along the lines of ‘noir’, ‘heaviness’, and in some cases ‘cyberpunk’ when describing this album. We probably can, though. ‘Paradigm Lost’ is uncertain, but not because this contrast between the almost industrial pressure and the usual kind of Engel’s melancholy isn’t organic, it is. And the album is betting on it. It defines its primary mood as uncertainty and confusion. This is a short but memorable road from the most gloomy to the most aspriring moments of Kai’s music.

Gozne – Non Human

pn090

Gozne

“Non Human”

To be human is possible. In this context, a robot with a human appearance wants to become more manlike, to be part of society, acting in it. The problem arises when his artificial brain will not process some things. He does not understand the behavior, customs, values, decisions and reason of human decadence. Each one of the electronic components that comprise him were programmed to function as an ideal and perfect human being (according to the standard of humanly possible perfection), he understands humanity in this way.

In reality, in human society as such, he does not find anything like himself. The human being IS NOT what has been programmed into his database. The real human being is practically totally the opposite.

The artificial intelligence with which he is equipped permits him to make the best decisions, to continue as what he is, a robot with human appearance, an autonomous and perfect machine, far from humanity, declaring himself, NON-HUMAN.

The characteristic analog sound of Gozne returns, though this time it seems harder and colder, approaching the sound of EBM (electronic body music) and old-school electro. The voice, already roboticized, serious, strange, paraphrases its own language mixture of English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Mapudungun, not so unintelligible.

Perhaps because of the concept behind the album, 4 x 4 rhythms do not abound, although this does not separate it from the root of Gozne’s work, which carries a sound with experimental characteristics to the dance floor.

Gozne is my father and knowing his musical works since always, and surely because of my metal roots, this is the album that I like most.

Inhale Ashes – 419

mfm15

Inhale Ashes

“419”

Complexity is the seed of all beauty. Sweet, sacred complexity.
Structure upon structure; forming, spreading, disassembling.
Complexity is the mother of all life. Loving, nourishing complexity.
Networks of networks; winding, braiding, intertwining.
Complexity is the key to simplicity. Eternal, primordial complexity.
Numbers encode numbers; transforming, convolving, multiplexing.
Complexity is the essence in experience. Stretchy, squelchy complexity.
Sounds inside sounds; melting, crumbling, coalescing.

===

Inhale Ashes is a young producer who loves folley sounds and effects. His sound has been influenced by glitchy triphop, electroswing and the like. In his tunes, carefully engineered and complex microstructures are used to assemble pulsating and groovy rhythms. The result is surprisingly direct and intense.
