Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. It’s the first album of 2025 and the debut work of Japanese artist Atsuto Yamamoto, known for exploring the boundaries of noise and harsh noise.

“1 Plus 0 Is More or Less Than 10” is an album built on layers of saturated noise, abrasive frequencies, and unsettling moments of silence. Each track seems to exist on the threshold between everything and nothing, between “1” and “0,” evoking the idea that even extremes can overlap, distort, or lose definition.

Yamamoto employs a combination of analog synthesizers, manipulated recordings, and custom-built equipment to create sonic textures that feel tangible, almost as if the sound could be physically felt on the skin.

Prepare yourself for a unique experience. “1 Plus 0 Is More or Less Than 10” is not an album to be merely heard – it is an album to be confronted.

Musical Improvisation recorded live in September 2024 at the Cave Heaven in Foucherans. Voice lyrics overdub. Charles Bukowski poetry on all tracks, self reading on track 3.

Dedicated to all the hurt people who try to heal themselves by healing others.

I wrote most of these songs in 2023. I’ve tried many times to record them on this old tenor guitar that Al K from Six Parts Seven gave to me. It won’t stay in tune and regardless, I just haven’t been able to get it done.

There’s a lot about the Covid era that I can’t get past. It changed me and largely not for the better. Everything is absurd and somehow we need to press on and go to work and pretend like things make sense.

Time is passing and I decided to sit down and play everything live to 1/4″ tape. Out of tune. Out of key. But here they are. Things are not OK. The near future is bleak, but we’ve gotta dig in and grind it out for the kids.

It has been almost 30 years since Mantris shared music with the world. Together with Christoph Waelkens he was the driving force behind house outfits The Black Sun and Brown Hardware Inc. Their creative connection led to three consecutive releases in 1992 on cult label Elektron. A productive music career was forecasted, but Mantris vanished into thin air. Until early 2020…

I’m So Many People, his ambient masterpiece debut on Mahorka, encapsulates the idea that we all play various roles throughout our lives. A journey unfolds from darkness to hope. Compared to his earlier albums, this one is even more focused on sound progression, fused with melodies and chords. Anatoly ‘Tokee’ Grinberg has done an excellent job of comprehending and mastering this music to bring out the full range of the sounds generated.

“The album’s journey mirrors our own, from the masks we wear to the ultimate acceptance of our true selves. The journey to the deity is a personal one, and not everyone may complete it.”

Shortcuts went on a beach holiday! They came back with an EP in their luggage, which is tellingly titled “Strand”.

It is sometimes about “lying in the sun” or “swimming in the sea”, “journey” in the literal and figurative sense is a recurring motif. But anyone who expects a kind of vacation report set to music or even concept music is thinking too short-sightedly.

There are a few things different on “Strand” than on the previous two releases. The record is not only the most electronic, but also the most guitar-heavy in the band’s history to date. The music is also much more straightforward this time, which brings the duo closer to their live sound. “Strand” is also the first Shortcuts record with completely German lyrics. Another special feature is that Jule does not play drums on any of the songs, as usual, but guitar.

The rest remains the same. On “Strand” Shortcuts again live up to their name: you can hear short, concise songs in which nothing more is said and played than necessary.

In October 2023, a number of artists submitted tracks for a compilation project intended to serve as a time capsule, set to release exactly a year later. While some artists drew connections between their work from the 1980s and the present day, others included messages aimed at the future, meant to be read in 2024. This project served as an exploration of timelessness, with each artist’s perspective on their work being deeply personal and not easily shared with the outside world. Their inspirations varied — some drew hope from the past, while others tackled their fears. For a few, it turned into an exercise in nihilism, as they stripped their work of all meaning to reflect their views on the world, offering a glimpse into their personalities. And, others expressed a desire for drastic changes to make the world safer.
