Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Starpilot

“Nomad Planet [Single]”

Crafting an album for two years yields a lot of content, but almost everything created during Starpilot’s Ragged Smile sessions were gold. As a compromise, we bring you a single release featuring one the best summarising tracks for Ragged Smile’s atmosphere and styles as an A-side, and with it five never-before-heard B-Sides that didn’t make the album cut, not due to lack of quality, but for the purpose of running length. As a result, this 6 track single is as strong as the album, comes with its’ own front and back covers and also, as a nice treat, features 8 bonus tracks recorded in 2011 you get on download. These older tracks are guitar-and-vocal-only demos of some of the songs that made it through to the album (vastly changed) and some that did not, giving you, the listener, a better insight into the sheer amount of time and care that Starpilot has put in to morph Ragged Smile and Nomad Planet into what is sure to be his defining work.

Steve Moyes – Gardening

Steve Moyes – Gardening
[LOR023]

Steve Moyes

“Gardening”

Gardening is a collection of solo acoustic guitar improvisations, performed and recorded by Steve Moyes in the back garden at his home in Gillingham, Kent, England, during the Spring of 2012.

Equipment used: 2 acoustic guitars (one of which is broken), baby knife, hand-held mini fan, 45 rpm record (A Chill At Dawn by Barney Bigard and his Orchestra). Occasionally both guitars were played at once (one with each hand).

“I don’t consider myself either an acoustic guitarist or a gardener. When Richard Sanderson suggested I record an acoustic guitar album for Linear Obsessional, I came up with the idea of recording outdoors, in an attempt to inject a greater variety of sounds into the recordings. It also gave me an excuse to be out in my garden, which I like, but not have to feel that I should be lawnmowing, weeding, or pruning, which I don’t. Thank you Richard.

Also, thanks to Alan Clark of Alan Clark Joinery for providing some of the more interesting ambient sounds on the recordings. More interesting, at least, than the pigeons. Sometimes I wish the pigeons would just shut up.” – Steve Moyes

Download comes with 12 page A5 booklet of photographs and notes.

Uma Totoro – Aparatos que Median Entre la Realidad y el Hombre

Uma Totoro – Aparatos que Median Entre la Realidad y el Hombre
[HAZE145]

Uma Totoro

“Aparatos que Median Entre la Realidad y el Hombre”

There is a city whose environment is the sound, a city where the noise is permanent, where the noise is traffic sound.

A place where the sound of silence hurts, where time seems to run for his life.

That run was stopped at one point, there.

Where? When?

No one remembers but I do. This happened in the year 2010. That season two men took their bodies to the same area and spread the sacred word «flash». Abra and Fran removed letters and redefine the flash, to leave it as an expression of a body, of an indescribable dream, of a sound named as: Uma Totoro.

U.To was borned in Buenos Aires, when a new government took dependence of the city. This yellow empire put walls and fences, while Fran and Abra mixed beats with patterns of keyboards and strings. U.To.: programming, guitars and keyboards. Gov: fences and patrols.

The soundscape recreates the noise to return it to the bodies in a beat, a beat that hits the chests and floors to remember that the sounds are outside and inside.

The Totoro landscape pushed the noisedance experience to the stage, and produced an anesthetized dance by the noise (or an anesthetized noise by the dance?).

2011 made the metaphor true, the dance of the noise arrived at a disc. Five songs, break the noise, to hear it; break the beats, to smooth them. Five noisedance pieces, if you hear them, you will be able to pronunce: Uma Totoro

2012 broke the truth and brought the doubt ¿do we actually live surrounded by devices that mediate between man and reality? 6 songs run through sound interference and guitars as frames, or infinit networks, spread along to the beats, beating, dancing. How many mediations are?

Sebastian Love

“What we are made for”

Me and you, side by side, through the horizon: this is What we are made for, a love song.
Both a melting and an impossible relationship.
It’s the kind of love that wrecks hearts, as much as the wind messes up the hair of two young lovers, hugging on the road that goes beyond stars.
Including 2 original tracks and remixes by NiHiL and Manuel Grandi

“Gently Annoying”

Gently Annoying is the latest album by galician artists Xesús Valle. We are glad to receive this collection of complex compositions based on analogue and granular synthesis.

This new instalment on Valle’s investigation take the listener in a tour around different scenarios where field recordings are tweaked until irrecognition and granular synthesis is used a moulding tool over soundscapes and a few works by J. S. Bach himself.

“Elpa Ninth Compilation – Transparency of Density”

Staring into the nimbus clouds, bestowed upon us in the summer, along with the drops will slide over the serene highest level somewhere under the sun, where dreams are born and anxiety disappears. Imperceptibly swept over the roofs and treetops, inhaling the scent of freshness. And seep into the ground, dissolving into its depths. Remain humble and quiet. We know that once the water meets again in a drop in the height of the clouds.

Winterbound – Enveloped By The Shadow Of Darkness

Winterbound – Enveloped By The Shadow Of Darkness
[HAZE144]

Winterbound

“Enveloped By The Shadow Of Darkness”

Winterbound is a solo project which explores the textures of Ambient and Electronic music.

With an emphasis on Post-apocalyptic sounds and themes — Winterbound strives to bring new textures and Journeys through the broken and cold harsh realities of a fallen world.

Dark ambient like any type of Ambient music is highly creative — the production process can be long. Ever since I heard Brian Eno’s amazing piece of art (An ending — Ascent) I was hooked on Ambient music. As the years rolled along I become immersed in creating «Sound Journeys» in creating textures, and designing sound, from nothingness to something so beautifully sculpted, whether dark or happy in tone and texture. I then got hold of a Steve Roach album, and again, everything changed — for the first time I knew that I could truly create worlds without an end through textured sounds. Ambient music, is like a sphere of light and sound that can radiate through ones being. Ambient is the definition of stillness pesonified through sounds of mezmerising beauty and sculpted by a passionate mind.

Eric Jackson – The Distant

Eric Jackson – The Distant
[SLNT036]

Eric Jackson

“The Distant”

A voyage into long-form composition. All sounds are produced with guitars and use a 13 Limit Just Intonation tuning. The piece builds off a drone of a harmonic series chord making use of the 7th harmonic. Fragments of the chord play over it while horn like passages play through a series of just intonation pitches. Deep in the background, complex chords called “Nova Chords” generate a solid unshakeable foundation. As the song progresses, microtonal and fretless guitars guide the listener towards a dual cycle of a scale pattern and arpeggio. The song ends on the swelling and culmination of chords featured throughout the piece. The instruments used were a custom FreeNote 12 Tone Ultra Plus 7 string guitar and a fretless 7 string guitar.
