about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Polwor – Mais

Polwor

“Mais”

Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel is pleased to present our first 2020 release: “Mais”, EP from Chilean electronic musician Pablo Guerra Pedroso aka Polwor.

“Mais”, Polwor’s new EP, is presented as a field of sound covered with psychedelic textures. An album where the sonic mutation is surprising, a conceptual work comprising a track and three remixes, that passes through a faint subtlety, while generating softness through melodic pads in combination with low and distorted tones, and a fierce stir of sounds seem that seem to be taken from some mad scientist’s laboratory. All this is complemented by a glitch, to the beat of a defined kick, in the characteristic formula of Polwor’s experimental techno.

René Roco‘s remix disfigures the entire main structure, leaving it in a dislocated polyrhythmic sequence, as if it were a digital error, assembling and disarming the track through a clean digital sound. A peculiar creativity that manages to offer a stylistic hybrid from the most innovative tendencies of the modern electronic music scene.

For his part, Ukyo brings “Mais” to delicacy. He uses the pad harmoniously and smoothly, generating an abysmal depth and innovating from the depths of the Deep through a versatile bass line, while syncopating everything and making this track a penetrating and seductive work.

Mika Martini achieves a spectral variation of the entire piece through continuous and independent sonorities, as if they were programs produced by artificial intelligence after their system has collapsed, still working even as it is falling apart. He manages this through a light pulse that moves towards a crisp rhythmic restoration and an ambient texture, as well as through acute perception in relation to percussion. Energizing and full of unexpected mutations, this is a lush and analog sound design.

In short, this work promises a work of ingenuity, invention and creativity in the hands of composers who have managed to deliver emotion, curiosity and topicality with their music, taking creativity to another level. A fusion between the digital and the analog, the new and the classic, under the banner of a brilliant genius.”

“Sometimes EP”

……………

“A common childhood memory of those who were born in the last century is to have read encyclopedias, with colorful illustrations that showed us what the future would be like. In those days, as we calculated with expectation how much time was left until the year 2000, technology appeared before us as the Holy Grail, as a promise of a better tomorrow. Time has passed and we became adults, with worries and debts, and with a large part of our lives influenced and managed by machines. Are we living in that future that we expected? Clearly not. As ordinary citizens we cannot travel to Outer Space. There are no cities on the Moon or orbiting the Earth. There are no robots doing housework in our homes. On the other hand, there were many other things that did not appear in these optimistic encyclopedias. And not all are good.

But Electronic Music, especially in its expressions linked to Techno, has the power to revive that feeling of amazement and wonder at the products of human ingenuity. This is precisely what defines the music of Felipe Baradit, a composer and producer from Valparaíso with a long career trajectory. A creator of great perseverance, who cultivates a sound true to his roots, without opportunism or posturing, Baradit weaves rhythms and melodies of synthetic atmosphere that suggest a mediated daily life, in a multicultural Latin America and continuously changing. “Revolución Tecnológica” (Technological Revolution) is a disc of stylized sound that evokes completely humanized landscapes, with forms of life designed to grow and develop around us. To listen to this work is to unite our imagination with that of its author and to open our senses to its peculiar energy. To capture its vibrations, which someone gifted with synesthesia might visualize with iridescent colors, is an experience that I personally recommend living.”

Taco Truck – Flour Power

Taco Truck – Flour Power

Taco Truck

“Flour Power “

MalLabel Music is serving it up piping hot and fresh this week, as Denver, Colorado’s Taco Truck slathers the bass in hot sauce and delivers ‘Flour Power’.

Taco Truck is a passion fueled project through and through. With tounge-in-cheek humour behind the brand and serious skills behind the decks, this MalLabel debut is bound to become an instant darling among producers and fans alike.

Taco Truck is dripping with booms & claps, snaps and genre bridging gaps. Smattered with sassy samples ‘Flour Power’ takes low end sentiments and weaves them through footwork, DNB and even a scattering of light house before dropping us off in a classic, glitchy, grimey and deliciously deep place. His ability to weave in highly technical patterning with quirky, girthy drops shows a skill set not to be underestimated.

Taco Truck takes some big, risky bites with ‘Flour Power’ and the result is f’ing delicious. Letting the creator speak for himself, “Like a perfect mountain of street meat, we enjoy songs that are both playful and gritty.”

Kamizdat – Access Frame: Collectivity

Kamizdat – Access Frame: Collectivity
[KAM031]

Kamizdat

“Access Frame: Collectivity “

A 2018 Netlabel Day release – a compilation of Slovenian artists, with many original works that span a wide spectrum of electronic music genres: from noise and sonic art, via bass, breaks, all the way to acid techno. The concept of the compilation is to bring attention to the conflict between necessity of free culture and enclosure of culture by copyright law. The conflict which is temporarily solved by Creative Commons licences.

An act of publishing music under the conditions of a free culture licence is a political act. In times of continuous global expansion of individualism which is often tightly connected to capitalist exploitation, it communicates a clear message: a desire to build a collectivity. For an artist acting on her own, or a small niche label, it is a significant move towards creation of equitable access to works of art. This act is an actual and concrete contribution to a pool of culture shared by all, an entering of a work and its creator into a collective consciousness. It is not a supression of individual desires and rights – as would false dichotomy of collectivism vs individualism perhaps imply. Instead it is an opening of creative process towards the global community and the public. It is an abandonment of a phantasm of fame and fortune based on maximisation of profits, exploitation of copyright, and intellectual property. Publishing one’s work as free culture is an action of an individual desiring to communicate her art with a collective humanity. It is an intentional gift to any and every potential individual who thusly belongs to a global collective of humanity and is empowered to follow her individual creative paths: listening, learning, composing, reworking, remixing, and sharing.

Access Frame is a series of compilations of adventurous music published by Kamizdat under a Creative Commons licence on 14. July – International Netlabel Day. It tries to establish a practice of thinking critically about access to, and distribution of, art. It poses a question: what is the frame through which we are allowed, and able, to access culture? How is it created, by whom, and can such frame of access be modified and transgressed?
