about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Concrete – études

[NN_LP028_10_12]

Concrete

“études”

“Concrete” is a mark founded by Alessandro Farruggio (composer, musician and music therapist) and Carmelo Kint Caramagno (Dj producer). The line of thought of “Concrete” is an idea musically open; moves only with Net Labels. “Concrete” is also a mobile recording studio, does not stop only at experimentation, but follow different music genres without being prisoner of the commercial products that work immediately in the music industry. The études, releases by Nostress Netlabel, are basically experimental ambient and electronic music works and does not mean to give an artistic and definitive “line” to the Concrete project but only present ideas in costant change and develop during time, depending on the choice of the materials used for compositions and states of mind by composer during his composing and artistic essence. This net digital release has a unique composer, Alessandro Farruggio, an artist with classic recording contracts but he strong believes in the power and useful of Net Labels. Musical thought and artistic composition are open to a lot of different contamination, that’s Alessandro Farruggio thought and in this musical-historical moment he’s working on experimentation and electroacoustic music and sound; in the past rock and alternative pop too, as artistic producer.

Hecrom – Sirius

[ZIMMER084]

Hecrom

“Sirius”

Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name “Sirius” is derived from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios (“glowing” or “scorcher”). The star has the Bayer designation Alpha Canis Majoris (α CMa). What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of a white main sequence star of spectral type A1V, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, called Sirius B. The distance separating Sirius A from its companion varies between 8.1 and 31.5 AU.

Sirius appears bright because of both its intrinsic luminosity and its proximity to Earth. At a distance of 2.6 parsecs (8.6 ly), as determined by the Hipparcos astrometry satellite, the Sirius system is one of Earth’s near neighbors; for Northern-hemisphere observers between 30 degrees and 73 degrees of latitude (including almost all of Europe and North America), it is the closest star (after the Sun) that can be seen with a naked eye. Sirius is gradually moving closer to the Solar System, so it will slightly increase in brightness over the next 60,000 years. After that time its distance will begin to recede, but it will continue to be the brightest star in the Earth’s sky for the next 210,000 years.

Sirius A is about twice as massive as the Sun and has an absolute visual magnitude of 1.42. It is 25 times more luminous than the Sun but has a significantly lower luminosity than other bright stars such as Canopus or Rigel. The system is between 200 and 300 million years old. It was originally composed of two bright bluish stars. The more massive of these, Sirius B, consumed its resources and became a red giant before shedding its outer layers and collapsing into its current state as a white dwarf around 120 million years ago.

Sirius is also known colloquially as the “Dog Star”, reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (Greater Dog). The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the “dog days” of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians it marked winter and was an important star for navigation around the Pacific Ocean.

V.A. – Tortuga Harbour Dock I

[lpprec010]

V.A.

“Tortuga Harbour Dock I”

We are proud to present our first compilation for 2 years anniversary – our ship landed at Tortuga Harbour Dock I.
Tortuga is a flying island forming the base of la-pikki-pikki records. Each corner sounds different and each tavern resounds to changing performers. We carefully picked out the folks who excite our feet most. The result is this various artists compilation including outstanding electronic clubmusic. Well known label artists like Chesavon, Sahin Laselle and Master Jim meet with la-pikki-pikki newcomers like Binz, Manolo Camp and The Crude Guy. The sonic wall gets completed by Zoli, Cableguys, Alic and Theme Fe. Nine awesome tracks which have one thing in common: their beats are kicking asses! Yarr!

magic panda

From the hinterland of Norfolk rises a mystical creature…
MAGIC PANDA is melodic, fast and pulsating in a dreamy ambient context.

We came across this talented producer on Soundcloud. Amongst all the young and upcoming, our magical friend showed some striking sound engineering skills. Combine this hard fought experience with a dreamful, restless soul and this is what you get: A magnetic, wonderful new world in which to lose ourselves…

Fredziak – Altitudes

[00051544]

Fredziak

“Altitudes”

New album produced by Fredziak, ALTITUDES is an electronic symphony claiming an uninhibited poetic expression and a certain degree of sophistication. It is a sojourn in an imaginary sonic territory, a route traced in a series of landscapes: the wonder and excitement await the traveler-listener behind every corner, beyond each pass.

Engineer and artist, Fredziak, aka Frédéric Esnault, starts working on music after some experience in literature and painting. He devoted several years to produce the ALTITUDES album with the idea that the gap between contemporary pop, electronic production and classical heritage had no reason to exist. Therefore his work illustrates a form of reconciliation between the traditional approach to music and the most unbridled sound experiments.

ALTITUDES has been released on CD and downloadable files on September 15, 2012. It is published under Creative Commons license.

sanefiftyfour – Our Time in the Invisible Wars

[NN_LP026_09_12]

sanefiftyfour

“Our Time in the Invisible Wars”

sanefiftyfour is an anonymous musician/writer who lives in Kansas (USA). Initially motivated by the same impulses that lead others to a bohemian/rock lifestyle, he eventually realized that music was a way for him to conduct social research, and that tenures in bands playing radically different genres of music would enable him to gain valuable insights into the myriad conflicting American subcultures. His twenty-first century recordings, while largely computer -based, inevitably reflect the experience and misadventure that follow from that sort of attitude, and he considers himself a sort of American primitive, aligned with a (very) small group of “redneck” heartland artists.

“Our Time in the Invisible Wars” is a series of timbre experiments, ranging from noise to dark ambient. They were either variations on material from the early-to-mid twentieth century by various Anglo (USA, UK) composers (in which case the source midi has been cut up and reversed to the point where it is unrecognizable), or they were the outcome of aleatory/chance exercises. The goal, for about half of the pieces, was to try for as much sonic variety as possible; the goal for the other half is stasis. A smirk at Krautrock pervades throughout.
