about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

iT / Irena Tomažin – Another Crying Game

iT / Irena Tomažin

“Another Crying Game”

(NB: very special hand-made BOX is in the works!)

Some songs on Another Crying Game began to take shape at the very start of the iT project, but as short fragments they did not find their form or place on the first album. After a long period of oscillation between emergence, forgetting, gestation and rewriting, and alongside later songs, at least some have now found their place and form.

Some songs were originally created for specific dance-theatre performances and were later given new lyrics and additional melodies. For instance, The Night of the Soul emerged in 2007 during a creative process at the Grotowski Institute’s Atelier programme in Poland. The simple melody of Vsemu kar je blizu (a short poem by Hafiz) was composed for the performance Rodeo by Maja Delak and Mauricio Ferlin in 2007, while the melody and part of the lyrics for Just the Way It Is were developed during the process and as part of the performance Out of Discord with Joséphine Evrard in 2010. The first audio fragments and drafts of Happiness were written around 2006, as were the drafts for the song Počasi. The rest appeared sporadically, in pieces and fragments, over the following years. Song Realnost iluzij, is based on Anja Novak’s poem of the same name and is part of her interdisciplinary poetry collection Rane rane (Wounds Wounds).

Another Crying Game is an echo of the the first iT album, Crying Games, released in 2011 by rx:tx, Projekt Atol.

Talons’ – in retreat

Talons’

“in retreat”

I wrote most of these songs in 2023. I’ve tried many times to record them on this old tenor guitar that Al K from Six Parts Seven gave to me. It won’t stay in tune and regardless, I just haven’t been able to get it done.

There’s a lot about the Covid era that I can’t get past. It changed me and largely not for the better. Everything is absurd and somehow we need to press on and go to work and pretend like things make sense.

Time is passing and I decided to sit down and play everything live to 1/4″ tape. Out of tune. Out of key. But here they are. Things are not OK. The near future is bleak, but we’ve gotta dig in and grind it out for the kids.

Shortcuts – Strand EP

[djummi.034]

Shortcuts

“Strand EP”

Shortcuts went on a beach holiday! They came back with an EP in their luggage, which is tellingly titled “Strand”.

It is sometimes about “lying in the sun” or “swimming in the sea”, “journey” in the literal and figurative sense is a recurring motif. But anyone who expects a kind of vacation report set to music or even concept music is thinking too short-sightedly.

There are a few things different on “Strand” than on the previous two releases. The record is not only the most electronic, but also the most guitar-heavy in the band’s history to date. The music is also much more straightforward this time, which brings the duo closer to their live sound. “Strand” is also the first Shortcuts record with completely German lyrics. Another special feature is that Jule does not play drums on any of the songs, as usual, but guitar.

The rest remains the same. On “Strand” Shortcuts again live up to their name: you can hear short, concise songs in which nothing more is said and played than necessary.

Sýček – IV

Sýček

“IV”

released September 17, 2024

Sýček jako fénix vstává z popela v minulém roce, kdy frontman a zpěvák skupiny Libor Staněk II. společně s kytaristou Richardem Steinem (Pokora) do nové formace přizvali Jakuba Zháňala (ex Acute dose), Ambroze Šuleje (Krstní Otcovia) a Adama Křizovenského s Nataly Středovou (GRÜNT).

Shaven Worm Orchestra – Wormy Razor

Shaven Worm Orchestra – Wormy Razor
[phokes148]

Shaven Worm Orchestra

“Wormy Razor”

Back to reality.
An ongoing shock, that is called life.
Let’s enjoy some rest.

We begin at that point, where we left with a pause in 2022. With the spring time 2024, thankfully four new demos and regards arrived at the phonocake headquarter and the first one is a sound art collaboration of like six to eight musicians and sound artists, that are currently based across Europe, but originate in Belarus, the inbetween country. The album begins and ends with vocals but has also an electronica ambient sound art dronish feel, with field recordings and excellent sound, that invites to quite some sound voyage.

Sigil of Time & Mirocaw

“Piilosanoja”

GoH-712: Sigil of Time & Mirocaw – Piilosanoja

Finnish folk music conjoined with industrial and power electronics. Expressive, sometimes hysterical vocals, mouth harp, bass guitar, acoustic guitar and noise synthesizer – all those used to create a truly evocative effect with an avant-garde interpretation of traditional Finnish folk songs from “Kanteletar”. Just check for yourself. Highest recommendation!
