about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“PIEL”

51beats feeds himself with new music, being the discovery of new talented artist in the electronic-music-scene a primary objective. “PIEL” is the debut album from Alessio Bressan aka CRAYON MORTEL, a new rising star from Padua (IT). Sounds in “PIEL” somehow find their roots in house-music inspired by Relief Records, adding interesting dusty atmospheres and new sounds recalling artists such Lone and Shlohmo. “PIEL” is an electronic-idm full immersion release, with some banging dj-oriented tracks, see “They” and “Maihaus”…. “End” is a real gem. A new star is born, welcome CRAYON MORTEL, under 51beats !

“From Ritual to Romance”

Et Quid Amabo Nisi Quod Aenigma Est?

Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, a blog founded on January 15 2009, and whose sixth anniversary is commemorated with this release, was envisioned as a space for the nurturing of a “savage thought” (that is, of an undisciplined nature). In its essence, and as an individual project, it aims mostly to be a vehicle for its author’s vast-reaching interests, while at the same time harnessing them into some form of discipline. More than just a reflection on the fascination caused by the themes implicit to its lexical field of action, as shown by the coordinates and key concepts that define the boundaries of its territory, i.e. “Occultism” / “Esotericism”, this virtual space mainly maps some of the topologies enclosed in the History of Ideas. A vast and sometimes ignored area of Knowledge, whose apparently paradoxical character drives a magnetic pull towards the need to identify its true nature, as ubiquitously manifested along various historical cycles, in an unending drama staged in the theatre of the Anima Mundi. This is, in fact, the true raison d’être of Die Elektrischen Vorspiele.
As a direct result of its existence, November 2010 saw the publication of the book “Summa Techno(i)logicae”. This work, as implied by its title, is a thoroughly compiled and systematised patchwork reflecting the interests that guide its author’s research. From then on, periodic collaborations with other projects ensued, such as the magazines Finis Mundi, Infernus and Antibothis.
Still under the aegis of Die Elektrischen Vorspiele, and always through the establishment of complicities and connections, a number of events were created and carried out in the past six years. This set of actions (with Music as a constant common denominator) has had as its main goal the evocation of the life and work of various figures that have left behind crucial legacies. The people celebrated include the musician John Balance (Coil); the historian of religions Mircea Eliade; the poet and theatre director Antonin Artaud; the philosopher Georges Bataille; and the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. It is also worth mentioning the series of events spanning along the year 2013, Occult Esoterica AV Gatherings, curated in collaboration with intermedia artist Ana Carvalho.
The proposal made to EdP – Editora do Porto (in the person of its administrator, João Ricardo) for the release of this compilation emerges as a consequence of shared common cosmologies which have gradually been transmuted into friendship, and also of João Ricardo’s encyclopaedic musical knowledge, while the invitations made to the artists taking part in it are the logical result of a chaining together of elective affinities (a process permanently taking place since the first Homeric dawn).

“The Light Side Of The Blue”

“The Light Side Of The Blue” is a sequel to “Wordless” compiliation, which is the result of the creative colaboration between Southern City‘s Lab Label and producer Hank Hobson in search of talented electronic stage musicians. However, contrasting the previous work executed in gloomily vast tones of ambient and glitch, the compilation offers a wide range of styles from jungle and jazzstep to Berlin school. The sequence of tracks is developed in a way that turns it into a novel, written with sounds and tunes. Into a fantastic story where the main character, finding it no more possible to bear his daily routine and seeking seclusion, runs away towards the sea…to another planet.

It all starts with the surrealistic absurd of Mutafory Lili telling with their both comic and psychodelic track about the daily life of our protagonist, where if you listen closely you can realise that he is about to break down. Then the action is transferred to the cosmoport, where Pk jazz Collective, toying with the new wave, is singing a song of mourn and sorrow, maybe even of the lost love. Lost radiance are painting admirable soundscapes, showing all the beauty of the deep space. Finally the duo of Sexyalien & Hank Hobson ($IMDC) is depicting some difficulties during the flight of the spaceship.

After that we are setting off for an automobile ride consisting of three chapters: crazy races across the megapolis by Hobotek, a ride along the highway in tune with jazz by Sobrio and the last few kilometers along the rough coast by Eva Shlegel.

And here comes the seclusion, where being alone with the self, nature and darkish atmosphere, perfectly rendered by SandSpace & lost-radio, D-lity & Amaranth will tell a story about the long-desired evening at the seaside.

In this new work, [Miga51] “S A U D A D E”, from Burdeos in our netlabel, all these feelings pile up while listening the 8 tracks that give shape to this release. Electronic music as way of expression and created to generate emotions..

“Commodore”

Faex Optim appeared in my inbox recently with a simple email – I think my tracks might fit the Kahvi sound, what do you think? Well, this short but ever so sweet EP of four tracks are about as close to Boards of Canada that this die hard BOC fan has ever heard.

Of course, Tycho and others have also made their style very similar to BOC, but Faex Optim hails from the very place that the Sandison brothers live – Scotland. Could it be something in the water or something else? hmm. All the tracks are amazing and if you’re familiar with BOC, you’ll get the feeling and the vibe straight away. Sentimental, lo-fi, analogue, warm, cold. Sending a shiver down your back? This ep has it all. And with minimal equipment that Faex described to me, so who needs a studio full of hardware to create tracks of this calibre?

Track of choice for me is Dancing lessons from the man. Enjoy Commodore, as part of the Christmas lineup for 2014!

Weedie

“Tep Sava Galvos”

Kahvi welcomes guest artist Weedie with a six track ep entitled ‘Tep Sava Galvos’ (meaning Between my head in Lithuanian).

Slightly underground and less mainstream than the last release from Tetarise, Weedie looks towards the minimal and eccentric side of electronic music with subtle beats and melodies, yet nice analog sounds such as the basses on Ego Cogito Cogitatum.

Influences are obviously artists such as Autechre and perhaps a hint of Arovane, and even some Solar Fields, which makes for an interesting listening experience to many a Kahvi fan.

Track of choice for me would be Cukrus Chalvai Atrodo Originaliai Saldus (in English Sugar seems to halva originally sweet) with its mellow groove and nice sounds. The last non-English trackname is Eik ir motyvuokis which means Go and motivate (yourself)

(It should be noted that “Particle decelerator” sees the light as a video album, and for this reason it should preferably first be seen before being heard.)

Le Matin

“Le Martin”

For its 27th release, Da ! Heart It Records gratifies you with a new album by Le Matin: “Le Martin.”

Over the past decade, we’ve seen this musical UFO pass by on a Chicago house label (Mathematics Recordings), on the ParisHQ compilation covering Julien Clerc in an 8bit version, and even on a breakcore label (Berzerk Produkts) remixing Franky Vincent!

We also owe him must-see video games such as Ours en Slip Simulator and Blektre (a real-life simulator)…We get it, Charles Torris is a geek, a comprehensive and prolific artist who likes to cultivate paradoxes.

In this album, you will find his sub-realist poetry, where dark – and sometimes coarse – humor slices with a sober, sensitive, and melancholic music. In his displaced universe, synthesizers and “old-style” rhythm boxes draw landscapes with neon lights, cellophane clouds, and the silicone architecture of a future as fascinating as it is troubling.

His sonorities may evoke Detroit’s techno, cold wave, and even the IDM of a DMX Krew. But as the artist says himself – and as the piece Nouvel Évier shows – “If Kraftwerk or Dopplereffekt were French, their balls would spill out from their dirty kangaroo underwear…”

This album deserved a case fit for its preciousness, thus it is presented in a folded LP sleeve decorated with a superb illustration, along with a drawing, cards, a badge, and a sticker, all created by Élise Kobisch-Miana.

Let it be known: this album by Le Matin is to French chanson what sausage is to sauerkraut: indispensable!

Crossworlds

“Ivana Kupala Night”

Crosswords is a mixture of abstract IDM/Downtempo by King Imagine and East Slavic singing of Irina Skripnikova. The overall sound appeals to the old Ukrainian traditions.
It is a place where the noise of postindustrial world becomes a dark forest. Following the cat’s song listener travels to the ancient times. There are pagan rituals of Ivan Kupala. There girls make wreaths, water-nymphs sing and fern is in bloom.

Pura Neurosi

“Pura Neurosi”

The result of collaboration by two musical projects Unlogic Thing and r.roo is the creation of a pulsating sphere. It is grim and disturbing, cold and technogenic space. Music replete with choral inserts, breaking rasping beats and jammed glitch. This conjunction leads to the logical upshot. The emptiness and chilly soundscape of the title track Void makes the final touch.

The epic feel of the tracks is still apparent, with the addition of guitar in a couple of the tracks. Think of this ep as a cross between Solar Fields and Boards of Canada and you’ll get an idea of how good it is.

Definately an addition to your permanent playlist, tracks of choice for this avid Tetarise fan are Lucid Dream and Red Yellow Green. They just get better and better! Enjoy this autumn EP from Tetarise.
