about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

You are the reason I believe this Reality is such a waste.

You believe the euphoria about a lie you are special.

You become the noise in the music of the universe.

You remain the same fantasizers of nice and fuck.

I wish you all be dead.

Ryo Kawawada – Paludarium

We have another debut on MiMi Records. Japanese artist Ryo Kawawada brings us “Paludarium”, an ambient and introspective album that blends the softness of acoustic guitar with natural sounds, creating a serene and contemplative atmosphere.

Kawawada uses the guitar delicately, creating subtle sonic layers that evoke images of peaceful landscapes, like a walk through a swamp. The album conveys a sense of calm, yet maintains a slight tension, inviting deep listening.

With a minimalist approach, “Paludarium” is a work that celebrates the connection with nature and the ability of music to create hypnotic and evocative soundscapes.

Talons’ – in retreat
I wrote most of these songs in 2023. I’ve tried many times to record them on this old tenor guitar that Al K from Six Parts Seven gave to me. It won’t stay in tune and regardless, I just haven’t been able to get it done.

There’s a lot about the Covid era that I can’t get past. It changed me and largely not for the better. Everything is absurd and somehow we need to press on and go to work and pretend like things make sense.

Time is passing and I decided to sit down and play everything live to 1/4″ tape. Out of tune. Out of key. But here they are. Things are not OK. The near future is bleak, but we’ve gotta dig in and grind it out for the kids.

If you keep making music about discovery, we will make the Reality in which you live so miserable, you will not have any joy in exploring it.

The spawn of an alter-ego for this euphoria infested world of liars, to feed it a mandatory supply of garbage to make them fuck off, in order to have time for what makes it worth the effort.

The album is trying to disguise itself in what this Reality prefers and completely fails.

DeepNebula – Blue Dream EP

Tracklist:
1. Blue Dream
2. Ionized
3. Oxygen
4. Blue Dream (Insanity Circle Remix)

“I’m So Many People”

Mantris – I’m So Many People

Released December 14, 2024 as free (cc) digital download and limited cassette edition.

It has been almost 30 years since Mantris shared music with the world. Together with Christoph Waelkens he was the driving force behind house outfits The Black Sun and Brown Hardware Inc. Their creative connection led to three consecutive releases in 1992 on cult label Elektron. A productive music career was forecasted, but Mantris vanished into thin air. Until early 2020…

I’m So Many People, his ambient masterpiece debut on Mahorka, encapsulates the idea that we all play various roles throughout our lives. A journey unfolds from darkness to hope. Compared to his earlier albums, this one is even more focused on sound progression, fused with melodies and chords. Anatoly ‘Tokee’ Grinberg has done an excellent job of comprehending and mastering this music to bring out the full range of the sounds generated.

“The album’s journey mirrors our own, from the masks we wear to the ultimate acceptance of our true selves. The journey to the deity is a personal one, and not everyone may complete it.”

Shortcuts – Strand EP

Shortcuts

“Strand EP”

Shortcuts – Strand EP

Shortcuts went on a beach holiday! They came back with an EP in their luggage, which is tellingly titled “Strand”.

It is sometimes about “lying in the sun” or “swimming in the sea”, “journey” in the literal and figurative sense is a recurring motif. But anyone who expects a kind of vacation report set to music or even concept music is thinking too short-sightedly.

There are a few things different on “Strand” than on the previous two releases. The record is not only the most electronic, but also the most guitar-heavy in the band’s history to date. The music is also much more straightforward this time, which brings the duo closer to their live sound. “Strand” is also the first Shortcuts record with completely German lyrics. Another special feature is that Jule does not play drums on any of the songs, as usual, but guitar.

The rest remains the same. On “Strand” Shortcuts again live up to their name: you can hear short, concise songs in which nothing more is said and played than necessary.

“Aural Vault: Chapter One”

Various – Aural Vault: Chapter One

In October 2023, a number of artists submitted tracks for a compilation project intended to serve as a time capsule, set to release exactly a year later. While some artists drew connections between their work from the 1980s and the present day, others included messages aimed at the future, meant to be read in 2024. This project served as an exploration of timelessness, with each artist’s perspective on their work being deeply personal and not easily shared with the outside world. Their inspirations varied — some drew hope from the past, while others tackled their fears. For a few, it turned into an exercise in nihilism, as they stripped their work of all meaning to reflect their views on the world, offering a glimpse into their personalities. And, others expressed a desire for drastic changes to make the world safer.

D-Fried – Images sur la mer

Boarding the flying ship, which is also a submarine.
Breathe in the molecules that tell stories.
Adventure stories of places beyond the known.

Jordi Saludes alias D-Fried has moved to a city by the sea and studies the waves and nature there, sitting right in front of the ocean when he produces music. One result is the album “Images sur la mer”, the images of the sea, an album that stimulates the imagination, a journey through soul and spirit.

Like with D-Fried’s first release on Phonocake, this release is presented with an amazing contemporary digitally version of an artwork by Buna. It is about the idea, that everything is connected and this idea reflects in oceans especially, since the oceans connect all the continents on our precious planet.

“DRAGX̶FUNK”

Luka Prinčič – DRAGX̶FUNK

Luka Prinčič recently also known as Prince Lucija (Crucial Pink, ex-Nova deViator and Deviant Funk) created a pile of music for a certain genre-transgressive stage show. On these originals and reworks of various degrees Prinčič is joined by bouquet of members from the collective The Feminalz. The shuffling team of collaborators presents itself in the usually peculiar and ambivalent light on the new productions, stealing melodic and textual images in a mix of instrumental club tracks and lyrically generous songs that function both as performative moments and repeatable musical hooks.

DRAGX̶FUNK is a transgenre mutation, a fluid entity, jagged pop, electro-funk, techno-cabaret, a schlager, and soft alternative, queer to the core, satire and tragedy, sharp and fun indulgence for the dance of bodies and brains, activism and hedonism, which would all like to steal your attention.

DRAGX̶FUNK is pronounced /dɹæɡɑːfʌŋk/.

“Pain recordings”

Joan Lavandeira – Pain recordings

“Pain recordings” is a complex sound collage that delves into the fragments of memory emerging from personal relationships. Blending electronica, industrial, drone, noise, and bass music, the album offers an abstract and evocative experience, where traces of human connections manifest in structured forms.

This double album plays with the abbreviations M. and J., drawing from Robert Smith’s approach in the track “M” from “Seventeen Seconds”. The song references Albert Camus’ novel “La Mort Heureuse”, where the character Patrice Mersault feels jealous of his girlfriend Marthe’s other lovers, beginning with the phrase Hello image.

The album’s focus is not on raw emotion but rather on the ways memories—fuzzy, distorted, and at times disorienting—filter into consciousness. Each track acts as an autonomous yet interconnected fragment, reconstructing the vestiges of human interactions. Industrial landscapes, deep basslines, and the raw textures of noise create an unsettling atmosphere, where sounds echo past moments, reconstructed and deconstructed in a sonic quest for meaning through drone.

The music of “Pain recordings” embraces a fragmented sonic aesthetic, in which rhythms and melodies emerge and disappear like memories dissolving over time. It’s a work that captures the incomplete and fleeting nature of memory, offering an experience that is as challenging as it is hypnotic. Listeners are invited to navigate these passages of broken sounds and saturated textures, finding their own interpretations in what lingers between the sounds.

Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the album unfolds as a mosaic of sounds that invite reflection on the fragility of memory and how past events are reconstructed in fragmented ways in our minds. “Pain recordings” is, ultimately, an experimental sonic exercise, where relationships and memories become raw material for an exploration that feels as cerebral as it is emotional.
