As you are canonicalized during your lifetime, and your autobiography sits shoulder to shoulder with the legacies that have survived centuries — Gen X, Xennials, Millennials, Gen Z, and their successors — you become a point of interest in the mind’s landscape of all of them. They weren’t young at the same time as you, and most of them didn’t grow up anywhere near the Salford Lads’ Club, and yet, the words that you wrote mean something to them, and perhaps come to mean things you didn’t fathom they would.
