Rani Jambak – VIBRA GENETIKA

Rani Jambak – VIBRA GENETIKA
[YESNO 114]

Rani Jambak

“VIBRA GENETIKA”

VIBRA GENETIKA is a holistic journey that delves into the interconnected dimensions of life. Since 2013, Rani Jambak has embarked on a path to explore the meaning of her cultural identity as a Minangkabau descendant born and raised in Medan. Through this process, she began piecing together fragments of family history, the complexities of her cultural heritage, and the diversity of her surroundings. This journey has not only allowed Rani to understand her connection to tradition and her ancestral land but also to explore the concept of Rantau (migration) as a vital part of the enduring Minangkabau narrative.

As her journey continues, the transformation of a woman’s life into that of a wife and mother has led Rani to discover new dimensions in understanding herself—a transformation of femininity that transcends physical boundaries, aiming toward harmony between body and soul. Each step along this journey forms a crucial element in shaping her worldview, fostering a profound awareness of the interconnectedness between ancestors, nature, and time. This awareness gives rise to reverence for the past, gratitude for the present, and a vision to perceive “future ancestors” as part of an eternal chain of energy.

VIBRA GENETIKA transcends the search for identity. It is a vibration that goes beyond the energy of genetic inheritance—a resonance that lives within the threads of thoughts, emotions, and the universe. It is a manifestation to dive into oneself and to understand ancestral heritage as energy that continues to echo. It carries the legacy of the past to be interpreted into the future. VIBRA GENETIKA is a holistic expression of spiritual journey and the manifestation of life’s resonance itself.

Rani Jambak, a distinguished composer, producer, field recordist, instrument designer, and vocalist of Minangkabau descent from Medan, actively engages in the exploration of electronic music and soundscapes derived from diverse locations across Indonesia. Her body of work frequently addresses themes related to nature, socio-cultural dynamics, and the interrelationship between humans and their ancestral heritage. In recognition of her innovative contributions to sound, music, and technology, Jambak was honored with The Oram Awards in 2022.

Xu + Oberlin – Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment

Xu + Oberlin – Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment
[mhrk435]

Xu + Oberlin

“Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment”

Oberlin is the musical project of Alexander Holtz from Koblenz (Coblence), Germany. The centerpiece of his instruments is a modular eurorack synthesizer, which he often combines with guitar, piano and field-recordings. His music invites the listener to contemplate, it often is developing quite slowly, it never demands to be in a certain focus of attention, but it never tries to fulfil any ambient-clichees in the sense of creating just an aural wallpaper either. It is musical improvisation maybe in a more subtle kind of way. Oberlin has released music on Handstitched*, cosmic winnetou, Thirsty Leaves, Vaagner, Hibernate, Secret Press, AOsmosis, some tapes and downloads by himself and, notably two beautiful cassette albums on Mahorka.

Xu is Nicola Fornasari from Cremona, Italy. He began his musical career in 1995 as the bass player and singer for the hardcore band Entropia. Starting in 2007, he began exploring new musical projects, including Xu(e) (a duo with Andrea Poli), Xu (his solo project), La Petite Vague (a duo with Diego Balconi), and That Which is Not (a duo with Pier Giorgio Storti / Belaqua Shua) in 2020. His music has been released on a variety of labels, including Fluid, Whitelabrecs, Shimmering Moods, Slow Tone Collages, Krysalisound, Eilean, Flaming Pines, Rottenman Editions, Rohs! / Lontano, Twice Removed, Cathedral Transmissions, Triple Moon, Thirsty Leaves Music, Audio Gourmet, Tessellate, Haze, Many Feet Under, Subterranean Tide, and Laverna. He has collaborated with artists such as Darren Harper, Bill Seaman and Francis Gri.

“Velvet Meadow Resonance Fragment” is the third collaborative album between Xu and Oberlin. For this project, Oberlin provided acoustic guitar sketches, asking Xu to process and transform them into the foundation of the tracks. The recordings were then manipulated through a modular Eurorack system or altered using the Samplr iPad app. Oberlin handled the final polishing and mastering. This work marks the first chapter of an ongoing experiment. In the next chapter, currently in progress, it will be Oberlin who develops everything, starting from the material provided by Xu. Stay tuned.

Released March 23, 2025 as free (cc) digital download and beautiful limited cassette edition.

Recorded in the Summer of 2023 in Koblenz, Germany and Cremona, Italy

Fabien Robbe

“Skeudennoù”

Fabien Robbe is a composer and multi-instrumentalist (notably piano, trumpet and synthesizers). Established in the heart of Brittany, France, he rose to prominence with traditional music dance ensemble Menestra. He has transposed elements of this background in ‘trad’ to an eclectic mix of jazz, free improvisation (under the guidance of François Tusques) and experimental electronic music.

“Skeudennoù” is his debut solo album on Mahorka, after 2 collaboration albums with Julien Palomo on the label – their “Feeling for the latch” debut as a duo from 2021 and “Miniatures” from 2024. Julien Palomo is also present here on this album, the last track being an eclectic abstract ambient collaboration with him.

Released March 30, 2025 as free (cc) digital download and in beautiful limited Digipak CD edition.

“Skeudennoù” is perfectly showcasing the notable jazz, traditional music and free improvisation composer and performer’s diverse approaches to the experimental electronic music world, providing for a strikingly fresh and unique listen, a milestone album for Fabien we will be definitely returning to.

A Symbiotic Experience – Original Silence

A Symbiotic Experience – Original Silence
[LCNLP208]

A Symbiotic Experience

“Original Silence”

HAMFUGGI Records and The Necrophile Hummingbird netlabel present Original Silence by A Symbiotic Experience.
The last part of a trilogie began with Oneiric Sound and Open Source.

« Subliminal Music for Surreal People »

What is natural evolution? Something ripples across the surface of the mind, merging life forms that aspire to bloom. Fractal flowers escape from our skulls, unable to contain our thoughts.

Deaf Flower, for example, is a kind of calling—to release and breathe. Somehow, life is like… life? I mean, we assume that the ordinary things of everyday life will always be there, but they shrink, disappear, or something happens, and everything changes. Like a certain idea of democracy*—it can vanish if nobody struggles for it.

I’m still that kind of Peter Pan who finds serious adults terrifying because they are often made of lies and so are turning this world into a nightmare. I always thought I wouldn’t live past seventeen—or at most, twenty. Many lives later, now at 47, standing at the threshold of the beyond, after losing many souls returned to dust, I realized that, perhaps, at some point, I will become deaf and blind—if no accident claims me first. We live with the idea that things will stay the same until the grave, but sometimes, they disappear.

That’s okay. Just knowing this helps me appreciate each day I can still see clearly and listen to music.

The death of music? A joke—not a very funny one, perhaps, but mostly a way to say that forms are changing. The only way to kill music would be to replace it with a leurre—and that’s exactly what the mainstream has done. Fortunately, the underground is still alive. I’m not afraid. Anything can be a tool to shape dreams ouside of our minds. Using AI to select elements and mix them with others isn’t so different from experimenting with sampling, cut-ups, mash-ups—any technique, really. As long as you remain the driver, you are still the dreamer.

What happens to the ghost?

No need to dig the concept mind to decipher the title. The best way is to feel it. Music is about feeling.

Nothing rational, indeed. Avoiding the end is irrelevant, because it is the best way to begin a new cycle.

Our entire journey with A Symbiotic Experience is about letting go, letting it flow, letting it be. Symbiosis should not be seen as a mere interaction—it is more like two extremities of the same thread, knowing each other. And when you become aware of this, perhaps things start to feel… too quantum.

I always keep in mind this shamanic advice: complexity is just a decoy, a way to hide the simplest truth of the universe—the Alpha and the Omega: Love.

Back to the roots of the dreamers.
As above, so below.
Thee eternal spring.

Recorded between Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Foucherans (France)
Special Thanks to Serge Kolesnikoff for his sculpture inside the artwork sleeve.

Dedicated to everyone who feel the light of love and share it freely with the world.

* I am an utopian, so called democracy are not enough for me, I would a kind of open source society : mutual aid instead of competition, more share of resources, less frontiers, etc.
—You see what I mean ?

Well of course no centralized power and no representatives politicians…—did I say direct democracy ?

Herbsthauch

“Krater”

“Krater” explores Herbsthauch’s experimental side, combining focused synth work with intimate musique concrète and field recording collages. Inspired by recent collaborations with other artists (such as Bunte Luft Trio or Matteo Traverso) this collection showcases refined soundscapes. The title track, “Krater,” incorporates audio from Mars rover Perseverance, while “Hördrift” blends carefully edited field recordings from nature walks and daily life. The remaining three tracks transform modular synth improvisations into powerful drones, dynamic eruptions, and rich sonic textures.

“Paisagens Sonoras_Soundscapes”

Paisagens Sonoras_Soundscapes is a sound work based on field recordings made between the Estrela and Açor mountain ranges, the territory where I live. sevensy – one2one

sevensy – one2one
[mhrk434]

sevensy

“one2one”

released March 16, 2025

sevensy (aka Austin Brooks) creates music that directly facilitates imaginal sojourns, wherein the message is the sound itself. sevensy mixes electronic and natural sounds with processed guitars and acoustic instruments. His musical themes ‘unfold into an unusual landscape’ so that it is often impossible to tell where one ends and another begins. sevensy has released his music with Mahorka from the time of the label’s inception and was featured on the first “Music for Elevators” VA compilation in 2004. His debut full-length “Beacon” was released on the label in 2007.

“one2one” is his new, fifth, solo album on Mahorka, following the “Reckoning (Creation)” masterpiece from 2023. This release represents a change of direction in sevensy’s music. Subtle guitar melodies are once again interwoven with harmonic resonances, but this new work features more unitive orchestration in a denser than ever soundbath that leads the listener into a peaceful and introspective quietude.

“We are one, yet simultaneously we are individuated. “one2one” is a series of contemplative pieces that explore thoughts and feelings of oneness and duality, which comprise the paradoxical nature of being human.”

Invisible Illusion

“A Hole In The Blast Furnace”

The Necrophile Hummingbird Netlabel presents A Hole In The Blast Furnace by Invisible Illusion.

“Resistance Music for Genocided People”

Saved In The Clouds.
I wish children didn’t die. I wish they would be temporarily elevated to the skies until the war ends. Then they would return home safe, and when their parents would ask them: “where were you?”, they would say: “we were playing in the clouds, we were playing in the clouds…”

Ghassan Kanafani

More than one year after the recording of this album Israel government is still killing people.
I’m sick about this never ending horror, lot of people are just looking elsewhere, like asking “please die in silence”. But it’s a fucking genocide.
And USA & Germany are selling the weapons, in theory France not, but when you dig… You find.

A word about this music, this is an improvised live recording, I mean spontaneous music, there is nearly no edit (mostly few glitches removed), there is no mix and no overdubs. For most of my recording I just descent into the Cave Haven turn on the devices by pressing the energy button and let the music come. But sometime to make it more comfortable to the listener I cut out the tracks to make them shorter. For example for Coexistence track I would have taken the ending part to mix it with the beginning and make a half shorter track, but finally I think it’s a bad habit. I prefer keep it as it is, I mean it’s mantrawave, the repetition inducing a hypnotic trance effect, it’s better to do not mutilate the tracks for a so silly idea than to fit with short attention span… Also for Resistance Is A Struggle and Standing Up Against The Genocide, these tracks could seem overlong but are really relevant that way to make the listener feel how it seems never ending tasks.
Thanks for being You and being different of the mainstream people.

Tracks 1 to 11 : A Hole In The Blast Furnace A-Side
Tracks 12 to 18 : A Hole In The Blast Furnace B-Side

An anecdote about the album cover, I took the photo inside a blast furnace and what you don’t see is the dead dog someone had left there. There is always something hidden beneath the surface of things.

Dedicated to the victims killed by Benjamin Netanyahou government, as well as the Armenian or all victims of other genocides.

DJ Scotch Egg – SCOTCH SAMBAL

DJ Scotch Egg – SCOTCH SAMBAL
[YESNO 113]

DJ Scotch Egg

“SCOTCH SAMBAL”

DJ Scotch Egg’s SCOTCH SAMBAL marks an exciting milestone—celebrating 20 years of his boundary-pushing electronic music career. Known for his pioneering work in chiptune and gabba, Scotch Egg captivated listeners in the early 2000s with his high-energy 8-bit sound, often creating brutal, fast-paced music with a Nintendo Game Boy. Over time, however, his sonic palette expanded far beyond chiptune, shifting towards experimental sounds rooted in hip-hop, trap, dancehall, and African-inspired rhythms. Ishihara’s work over the last 5 years has been characterized by insatiable cultural, musical and artistic exchanges with artists across Southeast Asia and Africa.
Now based in Berlin, Scotch Egg’s evolution is also reflected in his collaborations and various aliases, notably as part of the duo WaqWaq Kingdom, blending traditional Japanese music with cutting-edge electronics, and Scotch Rolex.
His work has been released on labels such as Wrong Music, Load Records, Nyege Nyege Tapes and SVBKVLT.

In 2023, Scotch Egg’s collaborator Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi (Raja Kirik, Takkak Takkak) introduced him to the creative haven of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, setting him up with a residency. What followed was an explosive fusion of cultural exchanges, facilitated by Wok the Rock of Yes No Wave Music. Surrounded by local musicians, Mr Egg dove into genres like Dangdut, Funkot and Koplo, and the gamelan that floats in the air of every street. Uncovering these fresh influences infused his signature 8-bit intensity with the sun-soaked psychedelia of Southeast Asia. He collaborated with local artists such as TerbujurKaku and BHKT. Indonesian icon Y-DRA (Raja Kirik) and his partner Asa guided him through the vibrant world of Indonesian TikTok trends, the music of Sumatera, and even sent him on wild, unforgettable trips to witness traditional Jathilan performances in remote villages. All of this brought new energy to his music.

While SCOTCH SAMBAL wasn’t initially intended as an album, the vibrant, unrestrained atmosphere of Yogyakarta helped create something special: a playfully eccentric fusion of high-energy gabber and tropical, upbeat psychedelia. The result is an addictive, multi-layered sound that’s more than just a musical experience—it’s a joyful celebration of cultural fusion, capturing the spirit of the tropical paradise that inspired it.

Now, with SCOTCH SAMBAL, DJ Scotch Egg brings the heat—literally and metaphorically—delivering an electrifying mix with that extra spice you didn’t know you needed.

All previous volumes of Aurora 2025 have embodied resilience in its many forms – endurance, determination, courage, strength, and adaptability. The final volume takes a unique approach, reflecting on the intentions set in 2024 while introducing an element of mystery. Selected tracks from Aurora 2024 were remixed by an AI remixer, with both the original and remixed versions – alongside new 2025 tracks from the same artists – analyzed through AI-driven sentiment analysis. Danceability, happiness, and sadness scores were then processed in NotebookLM Audio Overviews, where AI hosts attempted to uncover whether intention-setting for selected artists had a measurable impact. The insights that emerged were unexpected. These remixed tracks were then blended with excerpts from the Audio Overviews, creating a layered experience – almost as if an AI had listened, interpreted, and responded. A few playful mysteries have also been woven into this final release. Which secret words are hidden in the compilation descriptions? Who is the mystery artist? Let us know if you uncover the answers.
