about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, 28.1.2026

Hello, I have made a few changes to the site. Unfortunately, I am not quite finished yet, but it should continue without interruption. I hope you find the changes useful. Stay tuned. Konrad

Clap! Clap! – DIG! DELVE! DAMN! (Dutch Archive Edition)

Clap! Clap!

“DIG! DELVE! DAMN! (Dutch Archive Edition)”

“To have the honour of digging through the Dutch audio archives was like a dream come true! I was very excited to delve in and explore the vast differences between those countries. It was also an important responsibility to approach the project with respect for the sources of recordings, as many were from the ex-Colonies of the Netherlands.” -Clap! Clap!

Unlocking Sounds revives Amsterdam’s Tropenmuseum audio collection which features thousands of original field recordings from around the globe dating back to the 1920s. This collection was started by Dutch conservationist J.C. Lamster and Jaap Kunst, who would eventually coin the term ‘ethnomusicology’.

To connect with the source material and explore the multitude of intricacies that accompany topics like ethnomusicology, anthropology and cultural appropriation, all the artists visited the Netherlands where they conferred with leading researchers from the University of Amsterdam, Utrecht University, Leiden University, and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies.

Much like the sampled source material, each artist translates the world sounds through their individual styles. Clap! Clap! – DIG! DELVE! DAMN! (Dutch Archive Edition) strips down his bombastic, multilayered take on global rhythms, jazz, and footwork, letting the samples take center stage. Drawing on the archive’s recordings from Afghanistan, Suriname, Zambia, Bali, Libya, India, Uzbekistan & Morocco, accompanying and accentuating them with his singular voice.

“Monophobe presents Beat Garden Compilation 6”

Monophobe has brought together an eclectic bunch of artists, both young and established, reflecting his inspiration as well as his taste in future bass music. The producers delivered a wide palette of sounds. Expect bangers that could do well in clubs at peak times, tracks ideal for later hours when the party’s calming down, and tracks that could perfectly soundtrack a late afternoon.

No Finger Nails – Quipu Remixes

No Finger Nails – Quipu Remixes
[DPH030]

No Finger Nails

“Quipu Remixes”

A “quipu”, was a method used by the Incas and other ancient Andean cultures to keep records and communicate information. In the ancient Quechua language of the Andes, “quipu” means “knot”. A Quipu is in fact a set of knotted loops, tied by a thicker rope supporting them.

Quipu is also a project created by Atome Primitf, a collective of musicians and “dreamers” from Europe, a project inspired by that same method of knots, stringing artistic ties and new collaborations, through cross-genre musical interpretations and audio-visual concepts.

In fact Quipu was born as an audio-visual concept. The four tracks of the EP started as original compositions of Atome Primitif, with the elements of voice, violin and acoustic guitar modeling an unplugged sound. Quipu traveled all around Europe, involving artists from different countries, each one adding their own personal knot, inspired by the compositions of Clelia Patrono.

Andrea Presicce aka No Finger Nails adds his own musical knot through his musical experience, ranging from Electronica to Dub. The EP consists of four remixed tracks, offering a very dub-ambient and mystical alternative, using the original organic sounds. The project expands also audio-visually, with videos and visuals being produced, on that same quipu idea. Dubophonic is very proud and honored to be part of this, tying its own knot in this continuously evolving project!

Peter Holy

“s/t”

After many years in the making, and following an obscure lo-fi CDR release about ten years ago, this is Peter Holy’s first solo album, this time without materializing physically (the music, not Peter).

Peter plays piano and sings, accompanied by Tupolev bandmates Alexandr Vatagin (cello, recording, mixing, mastering) and David Schweighart (drums). The record consists of 9 pieces, 2 of which are re-recordings from songs from the old CDR, one is a reworking of a piece by Tupolev and one piece was also used in a song on Alexandr Vatagins album Serza. The remaining 5 pieces are completely new.
