Imagine waking up in the middle of the night, looking outside the window and noticing that something has actually changed. The world is still there, it sleeps but it is present, mocking you constantly and slowly showing itself .
Anyway now something seems to cover reality with a thin layer of bright glue, an ambiguous material that hides the features of things and that unfolds the world under a different, bright light.
You walk, this concrete is soft, the walls of the houses are covered with morbid, viscous, beautiful materia.
This world speaks to you, it tells you a different story. You could stay here forever and forget an imposed, harsh past. In this new vision, however, the past coexists, it lives and it embraces you, forever wrapped in a flaming rodeo loop. A giant puppet show put up by family and friends.
“Colla” is a metaphor, a hope for a different dimension, where thought generates tangible content without too much effort.

The music of the album Zealandia speaks the language of longing. It is about the eighth continent, on whose back lie the islands of New Zealand, among others. This album is very, very quiet and that’s the way it should be. It was recorded in March 2020 using only a memotron.

The subtitle “Fugale Schemen” shows us the way into this acoustically unknown terrain. Like Shadows in the fog, sound events immediately appear and pass us by as we listen and continue to feel our way forward and dive deeper and deeper into this strange world of sound.
Irritation and fascination are close together here. There is a lot to discover, but whether and what lies at the end of the journey also depends on what we ourselves bring along. The more open and unprejudiced we are in getting involved with the unknown, the other, the more enriching our experiences in this foreign terrain will be.
Horror Italiani is a soundtrack project to create a dark and unique vision of classical Giallos, italian horror movies from the 60’s and 70’s as a tribute to the great directors and actress.

This project began over 2 years ago, when Gurdonark posted a tweet to MrDoob’s online art-site Harmony, and I suggested we each draw four pictures, and then other had to compose a piece of music to match the drawings.
Through many delays (including a cross-country move for myself) the drawings and songs were completed and you can see each drawing by clicking on the title of the song. If the music is by Gurdonark, the corresponding drawing is by Lee, and vise versa.
Gurdonark:
“Although I resist the impulse to believe that all instrumental music should trace back to a narrative or image in the way of a tone poem, I find my own music frequently arises from a feeling or a tells a kind of story. I liked that in these songs the two artists each created a single-image narrative, however simple and unadorned, and then used one another’s images to create new songs. A bit like a shape-note singing, the important thing was not the skill or lack of skill in the creation of the images or the music. The important thing, in image or song, was to participate and share..”
