Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Stillborn Blues – III

Stillborn Blues – III
[Eg0_183]

Stillborn Blues

“III”

Stillborn Blues‘ 3rd album (originally released on cd-r in 2010) has the same old typical style : plaintive melancholy, detuned guitars, lo-fi recording, awkward playing muffled by the abuse of reverb and delay – all the ingredients for a low-profile soundtrack for lazy dreamers and restless losers in need of a pretext for spending the day watching the ceiling. Now that the music is on you can close the curtains and go back in your bed.

lutra – smallhaus

lutra – smallhaus

lutra

“smallhaus”

Following on from his slow burning self-released cassette “Unweather”, “lutra” is the first CD release by smallhaus (AKA South London based guitarist, electronicist, percussionist David Little). It expands his singular sound environment into a full-screen, full-colour and hugely enjoyable collection.
At times this almost feels like a tribute to the classic sounds of 70’s ambient – the choral textures, the infinite guitars, the synthesizers, but it’s done with a knowing wink and a contemporary layer of grit and dust. But mostly it’s an enveloping, immersive wash of precision moulded sound.

Officina Errante – Recorder! Ricorda...

Officina Errante

“Recorder! Ricorda...”

“Recorder! Ricorda…” is the first release in Linear Obsessional’s cassette series, professionally produced cassettes in uniform designs by David (smallhaus) Little. The artists have worked to produce music specifically for this format.

Officina Errante’s piece is an audacious journey through a succession of sonic moods, all sounds recorded on a portable Zoom recorder- the results then manipulated, crunched and highlighted later- time compresses and expands infinitely….tinkles from a borrowed piano add melancholic interludes.. It’s almost like a succession of audio postcards or snapshots, each “movement” capturing moments of stasis or energy, urban clamour or rural tranquility the whole work flowing seamlessly with it’s own logic.
Officina Errante reworked his piece especially for the cassette format and Linear Obsessional is delighted to present this piece of 21st century musique concrete/sonic travelogue.

All sounds, fields and instruments in this work have been sampled from recordings taken by me with the Zoom H5. I could take these recordings also thanks to Niina, Luke, Laura, and Michiko-san who let me play her piano all the time I wanted while I stayed at hers.

Failure Circle

“A mistake within a mistake”

While Failure Circle‘s 1st album 0x0.0 was full of overdubs, the 2nd one “A mistake within a mistake” consist of 3 raw improvisations recorded in Kecap Tuyul’s home studio during winter 2017-2018. It shows another side of this no-input-mixer project: more focused, less frantic, and even minimalist and droney sometimes.

Of. – Aridos

Of. – Aridos
[M028]

Of.

“Aridos”

This handful of sounds in musical format is anything but arid, since thousand of images do flourish and take place against to our psyche, as we go through the generous timing of the tracks.

Microscopic geometries perpendicularly pass through the space inhabited by omnipresent and opaque bass drums in black notes (as it has to be) which are several times fractured by resounding breaks that keep inviting us to a total immersion. There is no truce or carelessness. Everything is in its place.

The web is solidified and amalgamated by elegant melodies of overseas (Árido III). Other times there are distant voices (Árido II) which characterize the galloping plot that equally spill magic and celebration in an endless coven. Árido I puts us a muzzle and a leash to take us to a ride with an eternal arpeggio of cosmic horseback ride that is little by little being contaminated by weaves of liquid gas and noisy flashes.

The delivery is a resounding trip of oneiric minimalism with remarkable aquatic calling and architecture riddled with compressed concrete. Since minute 1 it warns that from here one does not come back with the same face as the one at the beginning of the trip.

A serious, meticulous, elegant and hypnotic work that invites to be listened with closed eyes, light off and a closed door.

The excellent remixes that complete this robust new delivery of Modismo provide spice to the total, but of course the dish can only be more filling at that level of genre.

Danke Sun – Movimiento

Danke Sun – Movimiento
[SCL198]

Danke Sun

“Movimiento”

Danke Sun (previously known as Daily Khaos delivery) is Jordi´s and Javier´s new attempt to make new music returning to their spanish native language but without losing their british and american musical influences.

Now, they come up with a new EP, Movimiento, which includes the songs Movimiento, A contraluz, Al final and Miss interrupción.

All this means a straight move for them, taking into account that, after 20 years, they´re back with their “sung in spanish” melodies, in order to have more connection with their spanish listeners, as this is their first official release ever sung in spanish.

The result is a set of songs where they show us their always distinctive sound, which combines both classical and alternative style, but this time with the addition of the change of language from english into spanish. Consequently, and after their musical evolution during the years, this fresh combination leads them to a new point never experienced before.

This is their second collaboration with russian label Southern City Lab, after their 2015 Magical inerthia album release, signed as Deadlines, their parallel project at that time.

Danke Sun are currently working on their forthcoming album, and it will be composed of completely brand new material.

[SCL-SNG008]

notforme!

“Ludovican /// Forlorn Shores”

The two new songs by the Karelian vagabond notforme! make up a postcard from the days past, and every postcard have two sides. The front is a bright, yet frantic picture, inspired by the Steven Hall’s imagery, with his shark feeding on people’s memories and a desperate wish to find a fragile balance in life. The back is a simple, but ironically sharp message to oneself. Without a stamp. To be wrapped in cellophane and hidden in the inner pocket. To remember.

Lyrics, guitar and vocals: Pavel Mokhort Bass guitar and backing vocals: Vladimir Zhmurin Drums: Nikolai Kuskov

Cover design by Vladimir Zhmurin and Pavel Mokhort

Recorded at Kukkovka Hell Studios, Petrozavodsk, Karelia, May, 2018 Mixing & mastering by Anatoly Nikulin, Brno, Czech Republic, May, 2018
