Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“return to the white blazes”

15 years ago I released ‘white blazes’, an album made while hiking on the Appalachian Trail. A place that feels like my true home. Always residing in the depths of my mind, calling me back to the solitude and beauty that only nature can provide. So life recently provided me a little window of a bit over a month to return to this magical trail. Naturally, I thought it was a perfect time to compose a follow up to the original ‘white blazes’ and so you have here before you ‘return to the white blazes’. An album composed in the forests on the AT in Virginia, North Carolina, & Tennessee in the months of October and November of 2016. Back in the early 2000’s when I conceived the first release, I carried a heavy (15+ pound) laptop. The battery would barely hold a charge, and in the colder months of a winter hike would barely work at all. Oh, how times have changed in this short moment between then and now. This trip, I was able to carry 2 cell phones, a tablet, a plethora of power banks, etc. all weighing well under the weight and thoroughly out performing in terms of specs the original laptop. The trip provided much adventure and time for deep thought. I was surrounded with beautiful vistas awash in the splendor of autumn, clean crisp air in the star filled nights. I shared my campsite with packs of coyotes, got interrupted during dinner by a hungry bear, read lots of books, experienced the intensity of forest fires, and generally got rid of years worth of clutter in my head in a way only the trail can provide. It is my hope, that in some way, I may have captured just a bit of that magic in what I present to you here. That in these tones and rhythms you can experience a bit of that solitude and beauty for yourself, and if I failed, I only hope I can encourage you to go out and experience the wonders of nature for yourself. Much Love!

Alejandro Albornoz – Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics

Alejandro Albornoz

“Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics”

In addition to the publication of the album “Fluctuaciones” (“Fluctuations”) in its physical CD version (pncd11), two online albums are included that can be accessed on the Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel website, “Fluctuaciones 2” (pn113) and “Fluctuaciones 3: Live electronics” (pn114).

In regards to these albums, the time span covered is around 12 years of production alongside the pieces for the CD, several of which were revised during 2016. Although the new ones were completed in 2015, they form part of a collection of works in course, so I understand them as related.

“Fluctuaciones 3: Live Electronics“, contains just the material that belongs in this very distinct genre, and includes 3 live improvisations (2009, 2011 and 2014). Although at first listening the materials are clearly close to the sonorities of acousmatic works in general, the treatment, especially their articulation over time, is of a different nature, due to the necessity and challenge involved in reproducing, generating and processing sound materials in real time.

The three pieces were created with laptop and synthesizers. I also consider these works to be of some value, although largely as a historical attraction in my career and they are intended to record the interest I have for this technique and aesthetics.

Daniel Robert Lahey – Not Sure This Goes With Your Outfit

Daniel Robert Lahey – Not Sure This Goes With Your Outfit
[CACL0003]

Daniel Robert Lahey

“Not Sure This Goes With Your Outfit”

The Latest Daniel Robert Lahey Release

Today we are proud to announce the latest Daniel Robert Lahey release on The Cerebral Audio Netlabel: Not Sure This Goes With Your Outfit. On his third full release with CerebralAudio Daniel maintains the excellence of his music with a few new twists.
About Not Sure This Goes With Your Outfit

While the title is amusing, there is something of a statement that can go along with it. Daniel has chosen to point rather humorously to the idea that really this music isn’t intended for the stuffy environments of the performance hall. It’s for everyone, no matter what clothes they are wearing. Even if they are making choices to appear as unique and individual as they can.

Classical music was never really intended to be the domain of the elitist. It was music for the people. Mozart proved this with his popular opera’s written for the general public instead of being written for kings or royalty.

On another level, Daniel’s selection of this title could be seen as a commentary on the musical establishment. The question isn’t whether this is classical music, but rather a statement that “this” work doesn’t fit with an “establishment” conception of style.

There’s also a third layer of meaning to this title. Something of an internal joke. There are points at which you might be listening to this work and thinking, “how does that fit in?” That’s when you will discover the playful side of Daniel, occasionally hiding little pieces of incongruous material as a joke for your ears. These tiny non-sequitur could be seen as not going with the “outfit” of the composition as a whole.

почему коммутатор молчит

“топорная работа”

About:
«Третий альбом писался довольно долго. От него отсекались куски, которые в итоге перекочевали в анонсирующие ЕР “это нужно видеть” и “машина”. Титульные песни будут на “топорной работе”, остальные держались в секрете до последнего.
Как всегда, незримо участвовал Рома Белоусов, основатель проекта, которому в день выхода альбома, 26-го ноября, исполнилось бы ровно 40 лет. Следующий альбом будет содержать песни Р. Белоусова и совместные с А.Марабяном.»

In the case of “Fluctuaciones 2“, this includes 14 additional acousmatic works, all pieces composed between 2004 and 2012 and distinct from those included in the physical CD. This collection is irregular, there are several works of interesting execution and others that are either studies of timbre and structure or are exercises acousmatic composition. I have decided to publish this collection for a number of reasons: it is a personal gesture to close a stage as a sound creator, it allows me to recognize the constancy and seriousness with which I have approached composition in the genre and makes available to students, artists, researchers and interested public parties a corpus of work that could be of interest for analysis, study, and discussion.

Strunkdts – We All Star In Hell

Strunkdts – We All Star In Hell
[SE076]

Strunkdts

“We All Star In Hell”

The random moments when its remembered to press record are the junctures captured and reworked into the raw body slowly defining itself as ‘Strunkdts’.

Isolated on the western coast of Australia, ‘Strunkdts’ channels memories of rave, punk and broken hearts as eulogies for a dying and insane world. The trash, the chaos, the lies and the uncertainties that constitute a whole lot of nothing are the vessels thru which the work navigates.

A haggard, paranoid projection of romantic days past into the ever present unknown. “We all star in hell” are one shots and teasers that were abandoned rather than finished.

Basic Elements – Happy Singles

“Happy Singles”

About Happy Singles

The release of Happy Singles by Basic Elements marks a couple of firsts for CerebralAudio: the first release from Basic Elements, and the first downtempo release on CerebralAudio. It’s also the second release available in 24bit FLAC encoding.

Basic Elements has produced a set of pieces that are like listening to a great blues singer, in a modern setting. There aren’t any blues vocals or samples used in this release, but it is the mark of a great artist that can transform modern sounds, and carry the essence and spirit of past works into a modern setting.

Happy Singles focuses on relationships, and the pain and hurt they can bring out in people. Those are essentially blues themes. But in the hands of Basic Elements, these come out more as an R&B style, with a modern groove. The title is somewhat ironic, but a true statement about people that are more happy when they are single.

The title “Happy Singles” is also a double-entendre: all of the tracks on this release could be singles. They could be released as single tracks, but they take on a new level of poignancy when listened to as a whole. This is another mark of the magic that Basic Elements brings to this style of music, and something that CerebralAudio is proud to release.

Regenerated Headpiece – Souvenirs, Novelties & Party Tricks XE

Regenerated Headpiece – Souvenirs, Novelties & Party Tricks XE
[BSXE0017]

Regenerated Headpiece

“Souvenirs, Novelties & Party Tricks XE”

Can you believe that today we drop our 17th Xtended Edition release? Word… this time around we introduce blocSonic listeners to the completely unique and dope sounds of Regenerated Headpiece (or RHP).

So who are RHP? Well, they’re a hip-hop hybrid musical outfit that I first discovered while doing work for SLAMjamz back in the early 00s. As the story goes with a couple other blocSonic artists that you’ve come to know… I designed covers for a few of their digital releases. When I first heard them I was immediately impressed by their sound. It’s one that’s really hard to pin down because it’s so unique to them. However, their story goes back a little further. They first burst onto New York City’s live music scene in the late 1990s and have been compared to recording artists ranging from A Tribe Called Quest to “Weird” Al Yankovic. Their core members are producer/MC Phon-X (a.k.a. Headsnack), lyricist Shred Lexicon, and DJ Exfyl. Other members of the Regenerated Headpiece family include DJ Sykopath, producer/MC Old Yist, and various session musicians.

Souvenirs, Novelties & Party Tricks XE is a re-release of their collection of rarities that included remixes by RHP friends and fam. For our Xtended Edition we also brought on blocSonic fam to remix a few joints! RHP also added a couple extra bonus cuts to make this a 3 Disc set!

The collaboraters involved in this project are extensive… musicians, producers, DJs & singers… the RHP extended fam include… Allison Breunig, Bass Killah, Brash, DJ Mockstar, Don Q, ICBM, ILLUS, MenAnt, Milkdrop, Phashara, Phon Juan, Rich Lupes, Slim Waites, Sneaky Pete, Steve “SG the Producer” Garcia, Taylor Jordan & Venomous 2000. If that’s not enough… blocSonic fam also represented… C-Doc, Cutside, Donnie Ozone, dustmotes, The Impossebulls, mGee, Mported Flows & Pot-C!

A very special thanks to Headsnack, Shred Lexicon and DJ Exfyl for being part of what blocSonic does. I’ve long been a fan and am thrilled to have you guys on board… welcome to the blocSonic fam! Mega thanks also goes out to everyone involved!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!

Cousin Silas – Transformations

Cousin Silas – Transformations
[CAAM0008]

Cousin Silas

“Transformations”

Cousin Silas returns with his fourth release on CerebralAudio: Transformations. This release centers on shifting minimalist patterns that constantly evolve and transform from beginning to end. These pieces were composed using ebow for the loops and pads and guitar for the patterns that subtly shift and change over time, creating a hypnotic soundscape for the mind.

This release is as abstract as several other releases on CerebralAudio, including The Sky Road. It’s a calm and serene set of pieces that have an implied rhythm, while using an actual percussive instruments, or specific elements within them. Whether it’s music you need for meditation, or to help you focus on a task, this is the work for you. Indulge yourself in eighty minutes of the constantly evolving and transforming soundscapes of Cousin Silas.

NOTE: For the first time we are offering 24bit, 48Khz FLAC encoding of this release!

Daniel Robert Lahey – Iterations

Daniel Robert Lahey – Iterations
[CACL0002]

Daniel Robert Lahey

“Iterations”

Daniel Robert Lahey makes his third appearance on CerebralAudio with Iterations. The idea behind much of this work is based on the repetition of phrases while subtly changing them over time. It’s the basis of what became known as minimalism in the hands of composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

But, with the iterative nature of these works is apparent, Daniel couldn’t leave could just write a set of derivative works that mimicked contemporary composers. Instead he reaches back into the world of serialism for a couple of these compositions. The density and complexity of these works belies their roots in the concept of minimalism.

It’s the sharp contrast between modern composition styles that makes this work interesting. Daniel has found a way to move between what many would consider to be ambient music and the most challenging classical music without finding any lines. He is an explorer of all ages of music.
