about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you and license their new creations under the identical terms.

“Dead Brother”

Dead Brother SP was inspired by novels of the American writer Ayn Rand. Dead Brother represents the potential every human desires to unlock. Unable to do this one becomes trapped in despair and neverending regret. Thus the “Brother” dies leaving a hollow space inside one’s body and condemning one to live a lie.

“Certainty Reducing Signals”

For the first of two release for Netlabel Day 2015, we have a debut release on Happy Puppy by the musician, writer, listener and Vuzh Music netlabel head C. Reider.

C. has a huge catalog of work as an early champion of the Creative Commons movement, and even before that with mailing good old-fashioned cassette tapes around the world for years. To get a larger sense of his background, visit his bio page.

He is especially a believer of the sharing of music, and the creation of music from sharing. As we are here at Happy Puppy (with a small handful of exceptions), C. Licenses his music as derivative-friendly, hoping to encouraging more music creation, as you will also notice by the large attribution list below for the compositions on this release.

NenTE – BRidGe

NenTE – BRidGe
[SCM-1504]

NenTE

“BRidGe”

‘BRidGe,’ Nen.T.E.’s latest offering and the first one on Sucu Music out on July 14th, 2015, for the Netlabel Day 2015 special event, is based on two live performances recorded between October 2014 (tracks one to five, as part of a live installation at ‘Scritture Mobili’ – Mobile Writings – an exhibition by Sicilian artist Michele Lambo) and February 2015 (tracks SF one to five). Both performances were held as a single stream-of-consciousness-like improvisation for electronics, guitar, rhythms and effects, in a way not so dissimilar to what the likes of Tangerine Dream used to do way back in the early seventies, but with a psych-droney-ambient feel that is third millennium to the quick. For this release, however, Nen.T.E. chose to dissect their jams into proper tracks, which on the one side makes the production more accessible to a lot of people, on the other side leaves out nothing of the essence and the beauty of their music.

[LOR065]

Steven Ball

“Life of Barrymore”

Extraordinary EP of new songs by the New Cross based sound/visual artist and composer Steven Ball (a member of the influencial DIY electronics group Storm Bugs with Philip Sanderson). “Life of Barrymore” is a collection of songs with lyrics transcribed from verbatim recordings of specially selected snatches of British television. Haunting, and occasionally uncomfortable, “Life of Barrymore” treats these found texts with utmost seriousness, and are sung by Ball in a moving and mesmeric fashion over specially created beds of accordion, guitar andelectro-acoustics. “Life of Barrymore” is a gripping and unique experience.

Haase+Santis – M5

Haase+Santis – M5
[pn098]

Haase+Santis

“M5”

The Haase+Santis duo was initiated through a visit by the violinist Johannes Haase to the Open City of Amereida – the place where sculptor and noise artist Óscar Santis currently resides. There, they began to develop a bond in relation to music as sound structure. The improvisations they realize are based on free sessions, wherein a dialogue is generated at the intersections of these structures. These are the intersections that articulate and give shape to the music.

Concerning the sound structures that bind them together, their relationship is highly complex in the sense that in certain moments we see extremely opposed planes proceeding independently, a radicalism of timbre and brutality of sound that carries an involuntary dissociation to the ear in order to contain the sounds that the duo presents us. At the same time, in other moments we see artists highly polished from a sonic precision and beauty that generates a temporal confusion, leading us to a careful and precise internal listening.

The duo articulates their discourse from a sonic radicalism, making sure that their music does not permit the listener to release his or her attention from listening at any time. The sonic turbulence generated by the noise of Óscar, and the constant evolution generated by the tension of Haase’s violin makes listening to this album a beautiful challenge for attentive listening, which these days have so much forgotten. But above all, the sonic radicalism, and the freedom of form presented by the duo are appreciated.

The Original Beekeepers – How The River Runs Dry

The Original Beekeepers – How The River Runs Dry
[LOR064]

The Original Beekeepers

“How The River Runs Dry”

Linear Obsessional presents the new album from English underground pop mainstays The Original Beekeepers, who have been releasing low-level works of sardonic pop genius for the best part of 30 years.

“How The River Runs Dry” is a collection of interconnected songs that piece together a story set in British suburbia. Featuring dryly humorous lyrics and the kind of intricate arrangements (including a brass section and guest vocalists) for which the band has become known, this album, several years in the making, has been described by the band as “probably our best / most consistent work since 2002”.

The Original Beekeepers are Linear Obsessional’s resident pop group, and this album, running from the exquisite pop of “Cats On Window Sills” to the Sun Ra skank of “Breaking Down” demands your attention.

Emerald Park – Go!Go!Go!
[086]

Emerald Park

“Go!Go!Go!”

23 Seconds Netlabel proudly presents our sixth release by the Malmö indie pop group, Emerald Park.

In 2015, Emerald Park have taken on a somewhat more divergent musical persona. With much experimentation, their sound has grown beautifully, travelling from acoustic and ukelele-driven tunes to more indie pop and electronic atmospheres, the band having shifted towards the use of electric guitars, Moogs and various synths. The Swedish outfit find strength and resource in this continuous progress, making the new 7-track album “Go!Go!Go!” a very compelling record and listening experience.

Ascetic – The Citizen Made of Glass
[PLANET046]

Ascetic

“The Citizen Made of Glass”

It seems like an age since we released Ascetic’s A Network of Lines That Intersect,
a brooding mixture of dark techno and ambient industrial noise.
Originally cutting his teeth on breakcore under his Machinochrist
moniker, the UK-born, Berlin-based artist has more recently been
refining this brand of intense and atmospheric pseudo-techno.

There is plenty to get your teeth into with The Citizen Made of Glass,
from solid stompers to beatless wonders, all of them carrying a
dexterity and depth that mark Ascetic out as a producer of genuine
talent.
