about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Sk’p

“Astravel”

Sk’p – Astravel
Sk’p is a name that is instantly recognizable to those who are into some speeded up, playful, incredibly clean but detailed glitch tunes and not a stranger to chiptune madness as well. But that’s just one side of him.
A very prolific and active producer hailing from Belgium, he decided to release on Crazy-Language a very different output from what he usually does, being slowing things down while still retaining his trademark sound of beautiful immediate melodies, clicky beats and a very precise song structure.
Inside Astravel are half a dozen of smooth, slow-paced classic IDM compositions that take no time on getting a warm and fuzzy feeling out of you. It’s simple, effective and very fun to re-listen time and time again, so you can start digging deeper onto all the nifty little details that are present inside. Complementing the six solid tunes Sk’p has to offer, you can still count on a couple of remixes from two of the label’s finest: Huron and Enabl.ed. Fitting like a glove to Berlin’s finest net label, Sk’p is already at home. (F.G.)

Klaus Marten – September
This is a mini-LP of mine from a couple years ago called September. As I listen now, what strikes me about this song is the dreamy, woozy quality of the shoegaze-esque songs present on this collection. In my opinion, the ubiquitous nature of these textures (broken up by a couple of harder-edged tracks so not to cross the line into monotony) makes for a consistent and singular listening experience, from which many ideas and themes can be inferred.

FLAUB – Easy Trip to Outer Space
As an act to capture the undefinable, as deep as consciousness could trespass.
Like a concrete proof of another life form, hidden behind the veil.
Away from everyday perception, as far as sound quest could transgress.
Kicking around your psyche as a risky journey not suitable for satisfied minds.
An abstruse voyage to a distant place but still somewhere in this universe, plenty of synthetic excitements.

Fernando Laub (aka flaub) is a composer and visual artist native from Buenos
Aires Argentina and Austrian origin who designs and builds his own musical
instruments. With the aim of compiling sonic substance and creating new devices
from old industrial machines and recycled scrap, he spent several years living
into an abandoned factory reconditioned as a sound laboratory. Among those
indoor quests he use to travel around the world documenting sonic and visual
material from jungles to urban situations. This way his music not only describes
pictures, it will transport you to a sort of surreal scenarios, images that are
quite difficult to define.

Klaus Marten – Satiety
This album of mine, Satiety, I think is really good for two reasons: 1, each track to me is really great at capturing and even painting a certain mood. Each track is its own world. And yet, it is also incredibly cohesive considering that, as the whole thing seems to combine to form a singular statement, whatever that may be. The largely abstract and open nature of my instrumentals allows the listener to draw his or her own conclusions.

“On vous parle de la prison improvised music out of jail”

V.A. – On vous parle de la prison improvised music out of jail
At the initiative of Prelude [coordination center of cultural activities in prison] we conducted a free music workshop in prison [Établissements de la plaine de l’Orbe, Switzerland] from August 2010 to September 2011. These recordings are some of it traces. We decided to make it public, it is a way to draw some lines between the outside and the inside, and perhaps a way of speaking from an excluded place, to another excluded place.
The workshop [2 x 3 hours per week for musicians or not ] focused primarily on an ensemble dynamic, an improvisation language constantly renewed according to the participants and the issues raised by the collective experience. While some tracks on the disc are relatively arranged, others are absolutely raw.
Subsequently, we have proposed to artists in freedom to transform, remix or freely create songs from recordings made with rudimentary equipment in the year of the workshop. We feared that the result becomes very heterogeneous, it actually became, but it seems in retrospect to be a quality of this disc and represent in a meaningful way the whole project.

Red Star Martyrs vs Dubophonic All-Stars

“Time for Tea (EP)”

Red Star Martyrs vs Dubophonic All-Stars – Time for Tea (EP)
The Red Star Martyrs return with the 2nd EP on Dubophonic. This time the UK musician and producer Stanley Wood unleashes the herbal energy of tea, brewing some special blends, mixing the finest musical flavours of Europe, Jamaica, Orient and Occident in a tasty and relaxing chill out drink. Alongside with him, many artists from the Dubophonic netlabel family. Ibel, The Dubbstyle, Mr Mefistou and Koncrete Roots prepared their own special recipes and are ready to serve their exclusive versions of Stanley’s riddim. So, sip your cup and let the journey begin.

The EP starts with the taste of mint in our mouth, as the oriental vibes flow inna mystical way in the atmosphere. The river of tranquillity passes right in front of us, as we embark in a journey, that sets our mind and soul in a perfect balance. The magical voice of Ibel guides us ina Rub-a-dub journey of irieness, as he prepares his special Jamaican blend of tea, served in two different mixes.

The sounds of the far east travel to Argentina where mint receives a special treatment by the Dubbstyle, being mixed with the yerba mate leaves, only to be transformed into a antioxidant and cholesterol-lowering beverage, cleansing the body from all Babylon diseases. The logical outcome is the cleansing also of the mind and Mr Mefistou uses his double ethnical background and adds for the next recipe a touch of flamenco style guitar mixed with a New York influenced sound.

Finally our herbal beverage returns back to the country it started its journey, only to be chilled in the fridge and to be served with ice by the Koncrete Roots inna special dubplate style. Once we are cleansed, in body and in spirit, we can enjoy the last cup of tea served exactly at five o’clock by Stanley Wood himself. Give thanks for that wonderful journey!

Lunarblues and Opaeq – Haarp
An old friend in a new persona appears back on Kahvi now after a long break – Opaeq (you may know previously as Abyssal Plains) has teamed up with a new face on Kahvi – Lunarblues – they make a formidable team as you’ll hear!

A five track ep with both artists appearing on centre stage for a track or two each, along with a couple of special appearances of Opaeq in Lunarblues tracks.

If you’re familiar with the Abyssal Plains magic, then I don’t need to tell you that you’ve got more of the same but even better, in a more advanced, chilled and minimalistic style. Lunarblues doesn’t fail to impress either with his track Leni Fox, but out of all the tracks, the track I keep coming back to is Lunar Plains, which I found on youtube many moons ago and can never get enough of. Enjoy this fantastic ep but a legend, and legend to be!

Alexei Borisov and Anton Mobin – Q
Alexei Borisov and Anton Mobin met in Paris in 2009 with their duets (Astma & Crash Duo) and have been working together since that first concert, published on H.A.K. Lo-Fi Record. At each passage of Alexei in Paris, collaborations start again and take different forms: common organization of concert, live sessions broadcasted on Radio Libertaire or on the webradio KKWNE, also the trio project with Olga Nosova, as evidenced the album “Manifeste des 22” recorded live in Trashvortex and published by the Italian label Lonktaar.

In March 2013, Alexei Borisov and Anton Mobin decided to join their forces and ideas in studio and record “Try To Crawl Out Of It” , their first opus operated in duo published in early 2014 on the Polish label Mathka.

“Q” released by Zeromoon is the first live performance played in duo between Alexei Borisov and Anton Mobin. Other studio collaborations are underway as a promising recording session with Julie Rousse, Olivier Di Placido, Aka_Bondage, Ayato and Michel Kristof recorded in Paris last summer 2013.

Performed at “Q#2014” on 11th February, 2014 at Instants Chavirés, Montreuil (France).
