Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. “Consistent Fluctuations”

Iso Brown – Consistent Fluctuations
I am celebrating the Iso Brown 25th anniversary by releasing a new “Consistent Fluctuations” album. This 2024 release features twelve tunes showcasing an eclectic collection of tracks that traverse a rich landscape of musical styles. Listeners can expect pulsating breakbeats that invigorate the senses, deep and resonant garage dub techno that transports them to the underground, melancholic leftfield electronica that stirs emotions, and the nostalgic vibes of analog indie dance that beckon movement on the dance floor. Additionally, three tracks include contributions from the enigmatic Jo Défunt, who adds poetic and surreal vocals to the mix.

Neko – Windfall (Mahorka Edition)

Refreshed from a year’s meditation and fuelled by a lethal combination of extra strong coffee and those lotus biscuits with the cream in the middle, Neko, the premier act to emerge from Bristol’s thriving Japanese language post rock/electronica micro scene (population 1) are back with “Windfall”, their second EP, following on from their highly acclaimed 2023 debut “King Louie”.

Like most second releases, it’s a more mature collection of songs than its predecessor (fewer songs about 5 a side football, more songs about complicated IT jobs and desperate attempts to avoid middle aged spread) that sees the band, now with vocalist Yuka Suzuki as a full time member, polish and develop their distinctive sound.

Teaming up again with producer Dom Mitchison, the EP’s four tracks are a vibrant melting pot of styles and ideas. Yuka Suzuki’s ethereal vocals are the one constant, through the dreamy “Stack Overflow” and “Kleshas” to the moody guitar lines and Donna Summer style synths of “Almost Forgotten”. The slow-building title track “Windfall” brings the EP to a pounding, cathartic conclusion.

The band will be undertaking a short tour towards the end of November to promote the release, with dates in Cardiff, London and hometown Bristol currently pencilled in. The “Windfall” EP is available for listening on Spotify and other music streaming services, while officially released on Shoredive Records (on CD) and Mahorka (cassette).

The Mahorka Edition cassette includes a whole exclusive B side of spectacular remixes of the original EP tracks by Asshole Galaxy, Tawdry Otter, Brainquake, popon and Suzuki.

“Hyakunenme EP”

Gnyonpix – Hyakunenme EP

Hyakunenme EP is the latest release from Gnyonpix, who dives into the world of chiptune in an innovative and engaging way. Combining the retro aesthetic of 8-bit music with a contemporary production style.

The four tracks are a true journey through time, capturing the energy of classic ’80s and ’90s video games, but with an added layer of sophistication.

While chiptune is often associated with instrumental themes, Gnyonpix incorporates vocals in a subtle yet effective way, as seen in the title track “Hyakunenme,” which also gives its name to the EP.

Hyakunenme EP is an album that captures the essence of chiptune and 8-bit music, offering a true tribute to the digital aesthetic, but with a forward-thinking approach to the future of electronic music.

Recorded by Murray Collier on April 10th 2024 at La Chunky Studio Glasgow
Mixed and Mastered by Robert Burke

I remember from childhood; my favorite section of a river walk we’d do most Sunday afternoons. The path became stonier, it started twisting, the trees and undergrowth became taller and denser, enveloping the space. I loved the feeling that I was leaving the familiar. I would always imagine that the path itself could decide to change and then I could move to a different river, a new town.

Rob is coming from Australia to stay with me, and we make preparations to record together. Emails and phone calls ensue as I try to confirm where and when to record, and who is available. The dates, times, location and personnel evolve and change, and even on the day itself I am not quite sure exactly who will be there and what instruments will be played. As the day unfolds people come and go as their schedule permits. Surprise appearances are made, and the music ebbs and flows in response to the arrivals and departures and, of course, the banter.

My train was canceled so I find myself in Glasgow for an extra day. I need some clean clothes and more importantly some piano preparations… Off I go to the local friendly hardware man who is baffled by my explanation of looking for things for inside the piano. I find a lovely orange three piece suit in the charity shop. I spill coffee all down the front of said new suit and I dig about in the piano with clothes pegs and steel rods… grateful there are string players with some rosin to share.

Going out to work with my bass is moving down three flights of stairs, making tiny changes in angles, carefully carrying, left hand tracing the wall on the way down. We move together.

My experience of this collaboration feels like an extension of friendship. It began with Raymond through our ongoing musical and research collaborations, then extended to Maria, and more recently to Jessica and Una. I met David on the day of the project! The lead-up was centered around the idea of coming together to create something – improvisation is how we function, and that’s exactly how it unfolded. We improvised every step of the way, from planning to recording. The music we created was entirely improvised, with each of us bringing our shared belief that improvisation lies at the heart of our creative expression. We thrive on the chaos of getting the studio organized and then arriving. Excitement about what is possible. Creating new extensions and understandings of our relationship with one other. Total trust in the music, the process and each other. Is there any other way?

Out of the door, one of hundreds of ritual journeys walking towards the space, not knowing, never knowing exactly how it will be. The walk is time traveling, the space connects to all of the other improvisations, and creative connectivity. The people, the stream of music.

Searching over a bridge crossing the river, a tunnel over the trains, bike over the road, following a feeling and a burrito.

I returned to lachunky, or as I call it “my living room” for what must have been the 100th time. I am used to rehearsing and recording fixed repeatable protest songs for activism… but I was so excited as the room filled with string instruments, synthesisers, saxophones, hardware store contraptions, childrens toys, world instruments and multiple saxophones to play whatever arises – playing the theremin led me to weave my arm over, round and under other players, our limbs tangling like branches, the cables like vines…

From start to finish two constants keep our confidence and spirits high. The friendships that we all share, and our trust in the process of improvisation. The music is improvised, and any situation that arises becomes an emergent feature of our recording and gently folded into the music. We trust this process completely and implicitly. Our friendships not only mean we trust each other with our artistic vulnerabilities and give each other permission to be what we want and need to be in the moment, but our friendships also facilitate the music to flow from the joyful community we are part of. We look forward to and revel in the joy of being together in the music. Improvisation and community are what makes this encounter joyous and rewarding.

Crossing the road, through the tunnel, the cobbles are uneven. On the wall someone has graffitied ‘shaking voices raised together are loud and beautiful’

As I dash off to my new train I realize I have forgotten my purse… another missed train.

Pavel Richter o albu:
A raději beze slov.
Pouze bych dodal, že se nejedná o ambientní hudbu, ale o hudbu k spíše zadumanému poslechu.

„Seasons of Chords – One“ is a mesmerizing dubtechno compilation that explores the genre’s diverse dimensions through 23 tracks crafted by artists from around the globe. This sonic journey delves into the rich tapestry of dubtechno, offering a kaleidoscope of atmospheric textures, hypnotic rhythms, and immersive soundscapes. Each track is a unique expression of this electronic subgenre, showcasing the artists’ mastery in creating ethereal and dub-infused compositions. Dive in and let the waves of dub wash over you.

Many thanks to all artists who make this compilation something very special with their track.

In the symphony of a distant world, seasons were played in chords.
Spring arrived as a light, gentle hum, its notes shimmering through
the air like a distant echo. Summer roared with vibrant,
esonant chords, filling the sky with heat and harmony.
Autumn fell in rich, slow minor scales, leaves swirling
in its fading echoes. Winter, a quiet, hollow hum,
pulsed through frozen air, each note sharp and distant.
The planet turned, its seasons woven in endless cycles
of sound—chords stretching through time, echoes bouncing
softly across the horizon, never fading completely.

bevietystė (placelessness) tells a bittersweet docu-fictional story through field recordings, ambient, dub, electronic, and other musical experiments. Conceived in 2019, each track is dedicated to a different person, exploring the human condition via themes of mortality, the search for meaning, loneliness, loss, and more.
The result is a deeply atmospheric piece that plays with the tension between memory, imagination, and the passage of time.

Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s films and Marcel Proust’s exploration of time, the series aims to musically articulate themes like spirituality, nostalgia, dreams, and nature.

Nine months later Takuro Takeda returns with another beautiful EP with just 4 tracks.

These are deliciously down-tempo arrangements, which, when allowed to stretch to five minutes lock the listener into a deep and fantastical daydream.

A collection of four tracks that’s more like a kind of therapy, if that doesn’t sound too New Age – Takeda’s music is much more epic and expansive and emotionally reflective than New Age.

In other words, if you listen BoC you’ll like Takeda’s music.

“This, our second album, is a collection of synthesized short pieces.

Whether you deem them abstractions due to their strange harmonic contents, or figurative of strange places, is up to you. The key word here is “atmosphere”. They convey no message, they were not created with any intent.

In saying what they’re not, we’re saying they are pure imagination at play. They deal with mental images and perceptions, before language creates order – and falsehoods – out of the plasma of free association.

During their making we never discussed them, bar a few technical points ; never defined them, never worded anything. We never ever mentioned we were actually “doing” them, and really discovered them afterwards.

Of course, we will never succeed in saying nothing. We’re subjects. And the very fact we have to write something about it is the heart of the paradox. But at least we can try. We all deserve a good vacation from meaning. There are other forces at play, like sound.”

Sýček – IV

released September 17, 2024

Sýček jako fénix vstává z popela v minulém roce, kdy frontman a zpěvák skupiny Libor Staněk II. společně s kytaristou Richardem Steinem (Pokora) do nové formace přizvali Jakuba Zháňala (ex Acute dose), Ambroze Šuleje (Krstní Otcovia) a Adama Křizovenského s Nataly Středovou (GRÜNT).

Wahn – Drifted Vol. 2

[mhrk409]

Wahn

“Drifted Vol. 2”

Wahn – Drifted Vol. 2

Following the spectral echoes of “Drifted Vol. 1” (on AFTER AFFECTS REC, France), Wahn returns, debuting on Mahorka, with “Drifted Vol. 2”, a deeper plunge into the abyss where despair looms heavier, yet faint glimmers of hope still emerge like distant stars in an endless night. The soundscape is darker, more cinematic, with grainy textures crackling like fractured memories. Lush, slow-motion atmospheres stretch into the void, embracing the listener in a weighty melancholy, where piano keys occasionally pierce the darkness like fragile rays of light, offering fleeting moments of solace.

In this second chapter, Wahn pushes deeper into the balance between hopelessness and the persistence of light. Cinematic undertones weave through the tracks, amplifying the immersive sense of narrative. The sub-bass resonates like a rumble from the earth’s core, making the body itself an instrument in this journey, grounding the ethereal melodies with a tactile, visceral presence. The ambient realms are thicker, more haunting, yet at times they break open to reveal a brief but tender embrace of warmth. Each track unfolds like a slow, mournful exhale, drawing the listener deeper into an intimate dance of sorrow and fragile hope.

Join Wahn as he continues this odyssey, where textures grow darker, the light more elusive, and the journey more introspective. Drifted Vol. 2 is a cinematic exploration into the profound depths of despair, with sub-bass vibrations and fleeting moments of light that make the experience as physical as it is emotional.
