“Self-Doubt Mountain”

Introspective drone / ambient / noise / shoegaze album. This album is about yearning for the deeper meaning of things, asking yourself if you really want to climb those steep slopes that drive you further and deeper into the mountain range. Why do we crave what is out of reach? Why do we want the unsustainable? What drives some to blindly follow their dream while others settle for the safe obscurity? Photo by Sandra Vallaure.

Hana Sent – Lampoooni

[51bts052]

Hana Sent

“Lampoooni”

“Lampooni” is the debut EP by Hana Sent, our novel ghost electronic music composer. The release drives you through six sweet sketches of faint colors; crayon paints describing a candid and sunny world, not without some nostalgic and spellbound aftertastes. Some melodies recall the works by Conrad Schnitzler for the playful approach to electronic composition. “Lampoooni” alludes to an imaginary retro-gaming, dreamy sounds and candy worlds, mixed with casual acid trippy-house sometimes recalling the late eighties. A very fresh release by 51beats to celebrate the incoming spring season.

C-Doc – SIX ONNA 7 (Episode 2)

[BS450036]

C-Doc

“SIX ONNA 7 (Episode 2)”

A little over five years ago in March 2012, we released the debut digital fortyFive release. Shortly thereafter Tha Silent Partner reinvented the format with the release of his first SIX ONNA 7 release. He used the format to pack in 6 brief, tasty instrumental gems. Since then he’s continued to release more installments in the series, all of which can be found via this handy collection. He also gave his blessing to other artists releasing their own, which has allowed both Nodus1 and C-Doc to drop their own installments!

Today we’ve got the latest installment in the series! This time around C-Doc gives us Episode 2! It contains the six dopest, baddest beats you’ll hear today. Snag your copy right now.

Many thanks to C-Doc for continuing to deliver music that grown ass peeps can respect and nod our heads to! Thanks again to Tha Silent Partner for your SIX ONNA 7 innovation and allowing the rest of the blocSonic fam to run with it!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!

Channel Surfing – Paradox In The Bathroom

[LBN039]

Channel Surfing

“Paradox In The Bathroom”

Channel Surfing is a quasi-vaporwave project. Meaning that it predates vaporwave, and was initially influenced by the glitch and idm scenes of the 90′s and early 2000′s. With Channel Surfing, the focus is on microhouse and shoegaze. On ‘Paradox In The Bathroom’. . . I took a detour, and focused on lyrics. This time, it was the political solitude of an uncertain future. The in-between moments, of both turmoil and tranquility in America. Sonically, ‘Paradox’ uses Sound Design as a songwriting tool. Drum machines were treated like synthesizers, field recordings were processed like guitars. It is a very environmental spin on the “rock formula”. Channel Surfing is the band from the Mojave Desert. The locus of Channel Surfing is “Ethereal Synthesis” in all it’s various forms. From album to album, the locus changes, falling together or falling apart, but the same ethereal techniques apply in different ways. Sometimes, outspoken and political, other times, quiet and interspective. Enjoy. . .

No Finger Nails – Quipu Remixes

[DPH030]

No Finger Nails

“Quipu Remixes”

A “quipu”, was a method used by the Incas and other ancient Andean cultures to keep records and communicate information. In the ancient Quechua language of the Andes, “quipu” means “knot”. A Quipu is in fact a set of knotted loops, tied by a thicker rope supporting them.

Quipu is also a project created by Atome Primitf, a collective of musicians and “dreamers” from Europe, a project inspired by that same method of knots, stringing artistic ties and new collaborations, through cross-genre musical interpretations and audio-visual concepts.

In fact Quipu was born as an audio-visual concept. The four tracks of the EP started as original compositions of Atome Primitif, with the elements of voice, violin and acoustic guitar modeling an unplugged sound. Quipu traveled all around Europe, involving artists from different countries, each one adding their own personal knot, inspired by the compositions of Clelia Patrono.

Andrea Presicce aka No Finger Nails adds his own musical knot through his musical experience, ranging from Electronica to Dub. The EP consists of four remixed tracks, offering a very dub-ambient and mystical alternative, using the original organic sounds. The project expands also audio-visually, with videos and visuals being produced, on that same quipu idea. Dubophonic is very proud and honored to be part of this, tying its own knot in this continuously evolving project!

Szymkowiak Joseph with Eric Duriez – Portails

[ET111]

Szymkowiak Joseph with Eric Duriez

“Portails”

Szymkowiak Joseph and Eric Duriez are two sonic explorers who work alone or in collaboration to cumulate the energy from both of them – each one has his own personal way and point of view, but has a symbiotic conception of sound. They use electronics, pedal effects, guitar, bass, metal plate, spring instrument.

Gomon – Kenoma

[ET112]

Gomon

“Kenoma”

Gomon is the product of cold city sounds, which is mixed with guitar riffs and chthonic myths. The music of this project is a search for the atmosphere in the world of dreams for a breath of fresh air. The first album Kenoma comes from the faceless emptiness of human nature. We praise the biological body, its voice, its movements, which is decorated by plastic and metal. We bathe in post-rock among the stars, listen to the folk-echoes of our ancestors and descend into the depths of the subconscious with the help of ambient and drone elements.

Number Eleven – Autism

[EEM020]

Number Eleven

“Autism”

Autism enters a cold, self-satisfactory state of no response to any attempt to contact, trying to believe there is no possibility for communication. The idea is progressing with a wrong assumption that mute doesn’t mean nonexistent, relying on Autistic thinking, assuming as if it is immune to an emotion. Realizing that it’s wrong leads to a colossal reaction, causing a worsening of the state of existing disorders to a complete malfunction of the whole thinking structure.

Structurally difficult and non-paced attacking rhythms, getting more complex and running from rules dictated by background structures, while those rules fading away, anxious melodies which are trying to compensate the constant urge to lose the control of composition.

eww – Maddest Sanity

[EEM019]

eww

“Maddest Sanity”

What happens when a human being spends his whole life in a cave without contact to the outer world and after going out the first thing he does is music? Something like this album happens. It’s mad because beats and melodies are mad – one moment they are drifting far away like a foggy dream, the next moment they are coming back and walk towards you on their massive wolfram pillars. But they’re sane because everything is well structured. Even the seemingly insane rhythmic structures of Innner Peece are quite simple at heart.

Isn’t it too simple? Made with a 10 year old software from basic 10 year old samples? Consider it like a fossil from times when the Matrix was still something new and sensational, and everyone was still listening to trance, not psytrance – the original trance. Like a can with a sample of air conserved with those moments.

Every track is a separate composition, every track has its own unique sound and mood, consider this album a compilation of 10 different stories. And even more – each of them has its own hand-drawn artwork which also is an anachronism in this computer graphic ruled world. Artworks are like impressions that pop into an abstract mind after listening to the sounds.
