about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Point

“Fan EP”

Fan EP, by Point (GER), is the harmonious soundtrack to your boundless life. Through tender sincerity, he shapes another prodigious concoction of warm, invigorating textures. This carefully plucked sound pallet contains understated retro synths, consuming crescendos and diverse drums, wrapped around three genre-defiant tracks. Lay back and be swept away with nostalgic bewilderment. The EP is an appetizer for his album Human Music II coming by the end of 2020.

Brainquake – The Ongoing Sequence Of Events

Brainquake – The Ongoing Sequence Of Events
[mhrk257]

Brainquake

“The Ongoing Sequence Of Events”

“Tick tock tick. Time trickles away softly and time flows off hard, steadfast as ever. Time travel might make you dream off but you cannot stop time or turn back, even if that is your dearest wish. The hourglass is running, at that steady pass, water is flowing, an ongoing stream, and everything we do or did is in the past. Time is ticking and will not stop, not for anyone, not ever …”

Unlike on his debut EP on Mahorka – a trip through abstract territories, blending dissonants and rough waves of emotion rumbling, here on this 9 track album Brainquake explores common songstructures and sounds. Overtones, dissonants and layers still provide that emotional layer but with a softness uncommon for his works. There is even some optimism in the sound palette and melodies? In sound it kind of reminds of those great 90’s electronica/ambient/idm albums we all grew up with but adding that minimal touch and rhythms and some more contemporary production. As a whole this album evolves presenting a changing approach to a constant, common sequence. Variations on a theme but quite diverse. All tracks are at 110 beats per minute and as the ongoing sequence flows on, it showcases the different interplay of underlays and thrifty build up.

As most albums this one is best listened to in full but that doesn’t minimalize the vigour of the compositions by themselves. Take your time and use the strength of repetition. Sleep, snooze, listen, dance to it, it’s ambient, idm, experimental, leftfield, pop and endzeit emotronica as much as it is not.

Ghobi

“Stele / Wollstonecraft”

Ghobi are : Lele: guitars , effects, French horn
Giro: bass, effects
Palla: drums, percussions
Mastered by: Simone Giorgi

The “Wollstonecraft / Stele” project is a split within Ghobi itself, originating from works on improvisational and transversal material, where horn color most of the tracks creating atmospheres which can be dark and then turn into airier stanzas. The project is the result of transversal listenings that inevitably had a significant impact on the sounds and structures of the tracks. The recording is rather lo-fi by choice, bringing out the specific and living atmospheres of the parts which recorded live, and this would have otherwise meant losing its true nature. The project is divided ideologically into two parts: Wollstonecraft (more airy) and Stele (darker). We can’t forget to mention the vocal contribution on some occasions (on the tracks Julian date, Volgo, Eleven Days…) by Anna with whom we have active a collaborative project/ensemble named Wollstonecraft Air

“On A Winter Day”

On a Winter Day, first released for streaming and download in digital stores, is gifted by Gaetano Fontanazza to the beloved Sucumusic so that also the Creative Commons community could enjoy this album of ambient music.

On a Winter Day is a state of mind, where everything may seem frozen to the eyes but not to the soul.
It is that right time to slow down and let the nature and the heart speak.
It is a deep journey where every emotion is dilated.

Jose Miguel Candela

“Dos mil veinte”

This album responds to an inescapable need to interact, from my creative work, with the serious events that have occurred in Chile since the social outbreak of October 2019 to date. These are urgent compositions, made in the late night of the impact, thus responding to the inhumane act of political-economic power. Once again, this power has exercised the most brutal violence against the Chilean people, through someone else’s hand. So never again!

about
Music which captures the underlying relation between human beings and natural forests: Lifecutter presents his vision in the soundtrack for the short film and research-art installation Sub Persona.

Managing forests is not a subject of everyday conversations, seldom even theoretical thinkings. But for the art tandem PLATEAURESIDUE these topics are the core of their artistic and also research work in which they connect landscape ecology and new media like film and photography and later exhibit them in various gallery spaces.

For the project Sub Persona they invited Domen Učakar to accompany their visual work with the audio setting. Domen Učakar has been performing and publishing music under the moniker Lifecutter for more than six years now and Sub Persona is his fourth album and a second one (after Safe Place – 2016 with Iztok Klančar) which has been made with a tight connection to a strong visual work.

The music captures the relation between humans and forests, which are the condition for life existence on Earth and at the same time an important economic resource. The ambient sonic structures may at first seem to communicate a feeling at peace with the current situation, but as the unnamed compositions progress they unveil the sheer brutality, the suspense of the dead silence and the… more

released February 20, 2020

Like Furry & Bukka’s “Party! At Home,” this record is more documentary than album. A collection of moments, caught in the wild and imprinted onto magnetic tape, during the first two nights of the new year.

Track 4, “Dec. 31, 2019,” contains an impromptu recitation of C. M. Slenko’s last poem of the decade. Tracks 6 and 14 capture Henry Hyde’s newest composition in the act of becoming.

Over 20 tracks, “slush” finds SSH re-visiting old memories from Slenko & Hyde’s back catalog, and crawling out of the past into new improvisations, inspirations, and interpretations.

All filtered through substance and sleep-deprivation — and a heavy dose of tape hiss — “slush” is unedited and uncertain, but honest and unwavering in its’ direction — forward, with one last sweeping backward glance, to survey the past for relics we will carry with us into the future.

Carlo Giustini

“Colla (Double Album)”

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night, looking outside the window and noticing that something has actually changed. The world is still there, it sleeps but it is present, mocking you constantly and slowly showing itself .

Anyway now something seems to cover reality with a thin layer of bright glue, an ambiguous material that hides the features of things and that unfolds the world under a different, bright light.

You walk, this concrete is soft, the walls of the houses are covered with morbid, viscous, beautiful materia.

This world speaks to you, it tells you a different story. You could stay here forever and forget an imposed, harsh past. In this new vision, however, the past coexists, it lives and it embraces you, forever wrapped in a flaming rodeo loop. A giant puppet show put up by family and friends.

“Colla” is a metaphor, a hope for a different dimension, where thought generates tangible content without too much effort.

The streets of Sant’Angelo are now populated by… more

Nicolas Tourney

“Gloucester”

Nicolas Tourney is a french experimental musician and sound designer, also owner of the label Snow in Water Records. His new album Gloucester consists in 23 experimental compostions based on a precise methodology, gear and sound material.

As the artist says himself “For Gloucester, the device used brings together a 1/8 violin, a viola, a pure data processor and a ring modulator.
It is a work of sound evocations around Charles Olson’s Maximus Poems. I use a projectivist method, freely inspired by the theoretical work of the American poet. In the field of possibilities thus opened, this research allows spatialization in a neutral listening space.
This work was developed during a stay at the Performing Arts Forum, a kind of European Black Mountain College.”

“Fuera de Sitio”

They have imposed a state of siege of the Homelands, they have burned down the harvest, they have abused and lied, here we talk in new languages, likewise, the justice is made up, territories are defined, the overvalued fall, the stillness rises and the movement doesn’t decrease, communication and action goes on, dictators, rapist, and killers against the wall, here we stay and move, here we fly, never is outside, a new rhythm is heard, colors, vehicles, and movement, never is outside.
